Ugh, what a week! I hope ya'll are doing well. What's your experience been with the ups and downs of channel performance? How do you stay focused and forward looking?
I dont really look at the studio much, I just try to improve from video to video, Im also changing niche's so this is a scary but exciting moment for me. I expect views to go down but i think in the long run it will be worth it

@@Ty_Myers I used to coach people on a videogame because i was really good, but I wanna help people more, so I'm switching to more of a self-improving and vlogging type channel. I dont wanna quit gaming, but I want my videos to be more helpful than to pure entertainment. I am making videos on how to balance gaming, and life. and other videos :)
@@yigamooo oh man that's awesome, and I think that's a really good niche too because I can imagine there's TONS of people out there who quietly struggle with video game addiction or who have relationship problems as a result of video games and if you can tap into ideas or strategies to help those folks, you'll get a lot of viewers. I've been there myself personally. I spent the better part of 10 years in my 20's playing WoW and then even more recently addicted to mindless mobile games. It's a real thing and I don't know if it's talked about enough. I've since replaced my gaming addiction with a YT addiction so I'm not sure how much better off I am :D

My advice is just to keep going mate - 'Perseverance is Omnipotent' and all that - Personally l'm both amazed and impressed at the sheer volume of quality videos you've put up in such a short space of time - Certainly puts my two paltry efforts to shame😊

Keep up the great work, and you'll reach monetization before the year is over. Your introductions are some of the best I've seen for a channel with under 10k subscribers. All of your introductions are fantastic, your content is spot on. Good job Ty., very good for 14 videos.
The video that I was most happy with the actual filming/editing process has been my worst performer so far. It's kind of funny and depressing at the same time, but the only thing that can change that is making the next video that could be what gives the channel the push it needs.
Haha funny how that works huh. My best performing video is one of my first and most cringy. And I wholeheartedly agree about pressing on. I'm sure if I keep going that another video or two might pick up 💪
Ty...I'm sorry, but checking your analytics all the time will kill you. You're doing fine. You're growing, but you'll have weeks where nothing happens. Don't worry. Your presenting style is great and you're improving video by video. As for the youtube editor, I didn't realise you can blur that. It's really good for taking background music out though. I had a video that they stopped monetization on because of copyright music in 10 seconds of the background. I went in, took the music out and now the video is monetized again. Keep on keeping on, your channel is going to grow.
Thanks James! I appreciate the encouragement :D And I agree that over-doing it with the analytics can make you crazy. Part of my strategy is weekly updates from the yt studio and part of what I hope to do long term from a business perspective (potentially) is to provide consulting for other newer youtubers who want a better handle on how to grow, and one thing I really want to explore are channel audits so I'm hoping to get good at that in the short term. Despite the slow or stalled progress, this is the fun part for me so I get a lot of joy in poking around and looking for insights and trends and things like that. (20 years of corporate America at play). But keep me honest and let me know if I'm missing the mark on providing any value to the viewer. 🙏

I've heard others say the same thing about Shorts. I think Shorts are tricky because "Shorts viewers" and "Long-form viewers" tend to be separate audiences with different preferences/expectations. Unless you can do a really good job of making your Shorts out of the best bits of your Longs, and then link back to Long in the Related section, it may be hard to convert Short viewers to Long-form viewers. But take this with a grain of salt as I've not experimented with Shorts at all.
Keep at it man! This is a really neat video, will be really cool to look back on in the future too I bet! I've personally been feeling stuck lately too. No matter how big you get, the views will always ebb and flow. As long as the "north-star" guiding vision is there, people will continue to follow along. :)
Don't get discouraged. I had a few of my videos pop off last November and when the impressions stopped on those it was tough but just keep pushing. It's like a pendulum it will swing back on newer videos.
You're in good company. I've definitely had some videos take off and do well for a bit and then just hit that brick wall. Who knows why, but it is a bit disappointing when that happens. I tell myself that I need to learn what I can from that video and then just need to keep making videos. One of the next ones could be the one that moves the channel forward again. And it's not always easy to tell which videos it will be. Nice tips and info at the end. Keep up the good work!

I feel your pain. I had 3 videos really driving my channel. 2 died over night and it killed my channel. It’s growing again now but I have no idea what caused it. Keep going buddy, your channel is certainly valued by me.
Happy accidents I suppose :D I'll take any impressions YT wants to give me. I have to remind myself that YT doesn't owe me anything and if I have a good video, I'll be rewarded for it. It just takes time. I appreciate you sharing your experience too 💪
I don't think it gets any easier. 12.5 months in and I'm up to 852 subs and only 670 public watch time. At this rate I'll get to 1,000 subs in 5 weeks but, it may be quicker. I noticed last year the holidays brought more people to my channel, I'm posting almost all shorts for the last few weeks and that has doubled my subs for the same time periods. I'm still posting long form but, not as much because I've really been busy with my bees. After I hit 1,000 subs I'll switch to all long form to get the public watch hours I need. I think that will increase quite rapidly. I have noticed my public watch time has continued to grow even without posting long form videos. That means folks are still watching my old long form videos. Another thing is my many of my older long form videos are only a few minutes long. When I post long form now I am trying to keep them at least 15 minutes long. I'm still thinking I may pull this off in a couple months.
Keep at it. You never know if/when something picks up and gets you over the hump. There are countless stories of people being stuck and far away from their 4000 watch time hours, and then BOOM, 1 video blows it up. What if you focused on 15 minute long form from now on rather than shorts? You'd get that head start towards watch time and I'm sure you'd get your 1k subs along the way.

It's just that I hit a slump with a lot of other things going on and decided to quit long form for a while until I got over some other things in my life. But, now I'm fixing to go on a vacation and am making videos in advance for that time. Also, during this time I wanted to keep the channel active with shorts. Shorts keep adding subs faster. I'll continue posting pre-filmed shorts while I'm on vacation to keep that going and longer longford for public watch time. Starting to fitm those today. While I was posting only shorts I did notice people were still watching my old long form videos. That was nice.
aww thank you! I'm using CapCut for my video editing. I use Screenflow to record my screen but honestly I think I could record my screen just as well with something free like QuickTime (Mac) But CapCut is where all the editing takes place. It's a little intimidating at first but after almost 2 months, I'm getting the hang of it.

My hope is to eventually turn this channel into a business providing coaching for newer creators and having a good handle on the studio I think can help give me an advantage in that space. I started 8 weeks ago too. I am having a different problem. I have lots of shorts views but it is not moving to long form watches.
