But when the movie came out in Kerala India it was somewhat of a refreshing concept especially exploring the social constructs and ideas of gender, relationships etc pushing the boundaries, normalizing certain aspects of above things. You have to have an insider perspective of the culture to understand the nuances.

There are certain references that maybe lost for example the music that plays when kuttan meets Meenakshi is from their previous film. The movie really did capture the capture the cousin relation well for many of us. Anyway it's alright I'd suggest om Shanti oshana. It's a simple innocent story of a girl falling in love. But the beauty of the movie is the comedy and how well nazriya (divya from this movie) plays the role. It is a comfort movie that i go back to a lot.

There is a famous dialoge in the movie, it is said here as well. Even the BG music that plays every time they see each other is from that movie. I think you will probably like that movie more. Personally it is one of my favs. In this movie itself there are a lot of dialogues and context that we as mallus are used to, understand and enjoy. And he is the father of Dulquer Salman (one who played the character of Arjun in this movie). I'd recommend movie named "Rorschach" to start with(one of his latest movies).
