Great review. That crustacean theme is definitely unique and cool. I like katana, but I generally like the look of tachi even more. Unfortunately, there are far fewer tachi on the market... I was wondering if you have any recommendations for companies that make good tachi in the mid to high quality/price range. Any tips would be appreciated!
I purchased a tachi from Ryan Sword last year and I was quite impressed by it. It’s in tachi koahirae but not only that the blade has a more distinctive curve that’s seen more on koto (tachi), and the blade has a longer nagasa at 32”.
@@FortuneFavoursTheBold Thanks for the tip! I'm planning to pick up Balaur's new Gallowglass Greatsword quite soon; but, based on your suggestion, my next purchase after that could well be something from Ryan Sword.
@JT_Soul oh the new BA Irish two-handed sword is quite an amazing offering. I just got it last week, definitely an under-represented blade cross section popular in the middle ages used by different cultures. I strongly recommend that sword, and I will have a review of that sword coming soon.
Haha, I totally dig that. However, like I explained in the video, lobsters and shrimps are mythical creatures that have cultural significance in Japan. And being red is one of the reasons.
Looks like a solid piece. The polish is interesting, its flashy but not the overly glossy super mirror i typically see on lower end blades, i appreciate that these forges are trying to add some nuance to their aesthetics.
I'm currently waiting on a custom order from RoM, water themed itself with a blue pattern steel blade. It'd be the third order I've made from them. They've really got good stuff for the price and it's great they've taken to heart what reviewers have said on making improvements over time.
Indeed. I’m very impressed by their ability to improve the quality in a relatively short time frame and listen to the feedback of customers and reviewers.
It's very tricky. Most tomahawks on the market are vastly overweight, does not have the correct geometries at all. You only have some luck trying out some custom makers, but even then it's more like a wild goose chase. I recommend not buying any "tomahawk" at all as things stand now you are basically just throwing money away and getting some trash to take up your home space.
I recommend watching this short video to understand the so-called "tomahawks" on the market. They are 2-3 times overweight comparing to historical originals. ruclips.net/video/CXCm6ktHcIU/видео.html
A cool sword! Are you going to review the Dragon King modern katana?
Yeah sure I would be very interested in their new modern trio. Very interesting hira zukuri geometry and modern grip.

I was confused by the lobster for the first 30 seconds. 10/10 for sticking to the theme. 😄
Yeah, I think it would be rather fitting to introduce this sword while enjoying some lobster🦞. Missed the cocktail shrimps though.
Maybe they shouldn't name it after a seafood restaurant... :P
Awesome sword and great review as always...

@@FortuneFavoursTheBold I know, it looks really awesome imo... 😊
Thank you very much!

Indeed. The number of features of this sword really surprised me, given the price point.
The hamon on this one is so flashy. Like a splash in the pan. Good choice of koshirae too.
@@bladeoftheemperor3133 yeah, it really stands out from the generic bamboo or dragon-themed katana made in Longquan.

this video is bad for me because it makes me want to get another katana/tachi 😂
I understand the urge!
Bro, review katana super quality atau sakabato himura kenshin🙏🏻😁
Thank you for watching!
Any good traditional tomahawks on the market?
