I was definitely a slow reader, falling asleep, having many books on the go, but only read the first chapter and lost interest. It was because I was going too slow and also used sub vocalization which also slowed me down. . I have implemented following my finger on the page, setting a timer and I have read 80 pages in my book in the last two days with full comprehension and actually, I am feeling the excitement of what I’m reading. This is a life changer.!! Thanks Mr Kwik!!

a self gist note for my future navigating mind
    1. get habituated. reverse competence confidence loop
    2. speed = focus = understanding = retention. race car (metaphor). brain supercomputer, feed it at the right pace to keep it occupied. speed-read yields more retention than normal-read apparently. 95% are not actually needed to comprehend (stop sign/red light)
    3. when we were younger, forced to read aloud to comprehend. created sub vocals to comprehend smthn. but talking speed way slower than thinking speed
    4. a child uses finger to focus while attempting to learn smthn for the 1st tym. then forced to stop using their finger
    5. visual tracer 25-50% efficiency (use finger). we use finger when we count the lines yay. motion = focus. hardwired brain (bush movement, getting preyed more priority than getting prey). prevent regression (back read several times)
    6. reasons to remember (objective). RRR = reasons reap results
    7. other senses closely linked. a child needs to touch moving shuffling keys. blind ppl uses braille. theres no taste of peach, only smell and illusion of taste. when we r cold, we cant taste due to no smell. fruit directly from trees more tasty

I watch a lot of YT videos at 1.5x - I can still follow along unless it is a very complex topic - usually it isn't. I get through them faster and save time.

I don't think I read fast, but I have noticed that when people read announcements or talks from the board I pace through it and get extremely frustrated with how loooooong they drag it out. Then I'm already through it all and thinking about something else. I'm going to test my reading speed...

I'm a slow reader. I keep doing the reading exercises but it never increases my speed. I've read the book, tested my speed, and followed the instructions - many times. No matter what, my speed never increases. Every time I test it, it's exactly the same.

Is it bad for our brains to multi task? I would have thought it would be good since it’s making your brain focus on multiple things?? Is that not good?😅

Thank you for advice, very helpful! It also depends on the content of the material, if it’s super complex topics, it’s hard to read fast and understand the material such as IRC tax codes.😅 what’s your suggestion for reading complicated technical materials

Thank you Jim Kwik. I do subvocalization to help me learn english words and how to pronounce it. I thought I could remember the english words if reading it with sound and repeat them multiple times.😅 Your thoughts?
