As a lifelong native of the Philly suburbs (and whose grandparents all grew up in Philadelphia), I've heard Mayor Rizzo's name mentioned quite a few times as well as reading articles about the city police. From what I've read, the police force of Philadelphia has a very difficult job, as there have been stories of people being robbed right outside the police station and the (most recent) police commissioner (last name Outlaw) resigning after two years in office. As an added note, the statue of him outside the Municipal Services Building Plaza was removed about four years ago.
