Haniyeh was not a moderate. He was one of the planners of Oct 7. And he was standing in the way of a ceasefire which the remnants of hamas in Gaza desperately need and which Iran and Qatar also need to stop israel from launching a full war against hezbollah in Lebanon.
You should ask yourself how Israel was able to get precise information on Haniyeh's residence and movements and who betrayed Hezbollah's Number 2 in Lebanon just a few hours earlier.
Fuad Shukr was responsible for the death of the 12 druze children in the Golan heights, and Israel was about to go on full war mode on Hezbollah thereby killing any hope for a ceasefire which both Qatar and Iran want.
