That moment when you realise you've put a typo in your RUclips video! :'( My penance: I will not misspell guardians! I will not misspell guardians! I will not misspe...
Mate, really appreciate the compliment here! This was by far the most challenging of the videos we've done. Still figuring out what exactly the channel might focus on, and feedback like this really helps!
Appreciate a review that uses the retail version rather than the difficult (impossible) to get Kickstarter version with its entirely different tokens and additional figures. Makes it easier to follow.

Really nice how to play, i really dig the calm and cool tone of the video, keep the good work.
Surprised to not see more watch it played videos yet in this one. Glad I found yours though, very great rules explanation! My one suggestion would be to rework the scene where you're showing the available spaces for units to be summoned with green and red chips. I didn't realize what the chips meant until the end of the scene, and then it immediately switched to the next section. Overall, fantastic work.
Thanks for the feedback and support. Yes, in hind sight we did this section poorly. Later in the video I used images to depict valid / invalid options, and that was probably a better option here. Or just talking about it for a few seconds more to make it clear! Chalking this one down to lessons learnt ;) Glad you enjoyed the video overall!
@@BoardDownUnder I’m only 2:47 into your video, so the jury is still out LOL. I’m writing a document and watching your video in short bursts between sections :)
Just subscribed to your channel, happy I found it. This game looks great, it’s expensive to go all in but I’m still considering it. I wish it had a solo rules that! Bummer about that
Thank you for the support! We've only just begun creating content, and still finding what we enjoy the most, so the content might be a little varied while we find our footing. All feedback is appreciated! We did not go all in here, just the base box w/ Kickstarter additions, and I admit I regret not having signed up for more! I think the additional content would be awesome. But I also think there is plenty of game without, so I'm content enough with what we have ( for now, at least! )
Haha, thank you so much! I did continually cheat in this game! For some reason it took me agggges to remember the rule about spending followers for powers!
Great video! I've played it a couple times since receiving it 2 days ago and still a couple things I couldn't concretely figure out - Do you play different cards for each region cycle or one card selection for the entire conflict event? Do you cycle the domination & monument majority for each region before each battle, or Do you cycle all the domination & monument majority for every region before moving on to all the battles? I did the latter and it felt more efficient and smooth, not sure that it made a difference gameplay wise....
Hey mate, glad you liked the video! Sorry we weren't clear on the above 1. For each region you repeat the steps (ignore if empty, check if dominated, otherwise perform a battle). For each battle (there are many battles in each conflict) you play a new card. 2. Monument majority is checked each time you resolve a new region. Only players with units within that region can score devotion for any majorities they have within it. During a region where a battle is taking place, monument majority is determined as the second last step. This is important because monument majority for the region may change if 2.a) A player uses a "Build monument" card and adds a monument type that means they have a higher majority, or prevents another player scoring from it. 2.b) If a player uses the Locusts card, after the bid has resolved, another player may be left with no units in that region. If that is the case, that player is NOT ABLE to score from monument majority (or win the conflict resolution, even if they played a +3 modifier) For clarity here see page 29 of the Rulebook, under Plague of Locusts. Another reason to determine each region in their specific conflict order rather than all at once, is because of the "Obelisk" ankh power found in the level 2 column. This allows a player to move their units from regions they already fought in earlier in the conflict order to "double dip" on their power, so it might cause units to be in or not be in a region for determining monument majority. :) Bit of a length reply, sorry! Hopefully it clears up your questions though!
Hi Melissa! That's right. The two players work together to decide which to play, as they both control a single set of units colour now. If there is ever a dispute the "High God" gets to make the final call on which is played. It can be tricky to communicate about this as a group though given its all hidden information!
@@BoardDownUnder but do they only use the battle cards available to the higher God at the moment until they get the remaining back by playing that special card?
Yep, so just for clarity the merging happens after all the battles in the 3rd round conflict have resolved, just before the game returns to the "actions phase". The "lower god" discards all their battle cards back to the box. The higher god does nothing additional to their battle cards - any that were in a revealed, played state remain so until they play the Cycle card during the 4th conflict. When resolving any battles in the 4th / 5th conflict, these merged god players sit beside one another and decide together which card to play that battle. Hope that answers the question! Let me know if I've misunderstood though. :)
Good and helpful breakdown of how to play. It got me and my spouse started! But what’s with that pronunciation of the game’s name? The guy says Ankh like it rhymes with the American nickname Hank. He says “Ra” with the right long “Ah” sound but leaves it out of the name of the game. 😮

I don’t know what you originally intended for your channel but you seriously need to do more how to play videos, you did a great job with this one

Great "Walk like an Egyptian" cameo, love it!
Been looking for a proper How To video! From one Victorian to another, thank you!
Haha, you're welcome mate! Glad it helped
Finally a vid on how to play this game. Weird how there really isn't more out there from other board game tubers.
Exactly! We noticed there was no how to play and saw a few people asking for one, so thought we would try provide one for the community.
Probably because it hasn't reached the US yet
Thanks for a clear explanation. I'm about to play this for the first time.
Your welcome! :) Let us know how it goes
I love it! love it! Can’t wait for my game to come next month!

@Board Game Coffee Haha! Well I hope at least we ease you through your document. In all fairness I would watch us in short bursts too! ;)
Mine Kickstarter just got here and yaaaaaay!!!!!!
Enjoy! Let us know how you find it
Thanks a bunch for a good walkthrough when we were to play.
You are most welcome, friend! Glad we were able to get you up and running with the game! :)
A true rulebook replacement. Thank you.
Thanks for the tutorial!
Thank you for your great video guys!
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment :)

Just about to play my 1st game, thanks for the video
You're welcome mate! Did you enjoy your first game(s)?

When merged do the merged Gods use the battle cards available only to the higher God?
