  • This is a 9 inch depth test on a gold coin ( half sovereign ) with the e trac and playing with the settings until I get the best result 😀👍

    I run a completely blank screen. Let the numbers and your ears do the ID. If in doubt, DIG IT OUT. **UPDATE**: I've heard that messing around with the NOISE CANCEL channel helps. lower numbers for higher frequencies more suited to gold. The other issue, is the coil itself. I use an Excelerator 13" and it simply STORMS on deep gold.

    Hey Gazza I loved the video, really helped me with my etrac.
    Do you remember what your expert settings were?
    There is recovery fast and recovery deep in really interested in, just wondered what you had on and off.
    Thanks
    Paul

      PJW hello Paul thanks for commenting. I don't have the etrac anymore and I can't remember the setting I had on it, I did try most things.
      The e TRAC is a good detector, very light and good discrimination, but there is this problem with gold below 6 inches ( I have done the same test on my ctx3030 and its exactly the same below 6 inches, it shows as iron in the bottom right corner )
      All the minelabs with multi tone the newer ones acted exactly the same, so the etrac is no worse below 6 inch really and I use the ctx on 4 tone conduct not multi tone.
      I would buy another etrac for mostly beach work and pasture because I find the ctx is no better below 6 inches on gold and I will do a vid on it when I get time.

    Good test on the Minelab, as I've proved on my video's you will struggle to find gold, unless you take your time to tune the machine in. I see it will only find the coin in all metal, where other machines can do this in motion even with a bit of discrimination on. Many of the tests I have conducted using switch on and go machines, will find it straight away. I believe Minelab have added too many filters to the 24-28 range to remove coke and iron, but as gold falls into his zone, it is being rejected!

      DETECTINGFORGOLD yes you are dead on, when this e trac is in multi tone it won't hardly pick the coin up at 6 inches ( that's in the next vid ) and you have to forget the screen and use all metal because a gold signal comes in as iron unless the sensitivity is flat out. I think many people have walked over smaller gold objects without realising it at all, including me before I watched your vid. As you say you have to spend a hell of a lot of time setting it up correctly and if you just switch on and use normal settings, it ignores it!

      True Steve but then theres a lot of machines that won't hit a gold coin at six inches in bad ground, or mistake it as iron,

    What's the point of buying a £1300 machine then running it in all metal?. You would be as well buying a used Vallon military mine detector for £100 if you are going to be digging everything.

    • @onlygazza
      @onlygazza  5 лет назад +1

      If that’s what you want to do carry on, but the gold sovereign will be found by another person not you. I personally run in reverse discrimination ( all metal then check in discrimination ) if you don’t dig everything on the beach you don’t find anything !

    looked a good test my friend but what were the other settings you were using volume gain,, deep on,, deep off, ground,,, variability,,, etc i found a gold half sovereign at 8 to 9 inches with the etrac and it was a crystal clear positive signal look forward to your test on the at pro as i use one of them as well might be an idea to get away from that digger LOL HH and best wishes,,,pat

      magicwands1 I've done another vid in the same place at 6 inch depth but not uploaded it yet and multi tone performed terrible again. I genuinely like this detector but I found the gold coin in ground I've been over with this many times and that's what made me try the at pro against the e trac in one of my other vids, it genuinely shocked me how well the at pro performed in stock settings and how bad the e trac did in stock settings. I have deep on and can't remember the others off hand, but I will try them all if it helps it work better. The vid was going on a bit to long for uploading so I had to make it a two parter. Have a look at the at pro v e trac gold coin test I did first if all, the at destroyed the e trac in stock settings. Thanks for commenting and the digger was back far enough , it was a good wind break 😃

      yes i agree the stock settings are ridiculous in my opinion and i never use them ,,i also think the at pro is one of the fastest response and separation machines i have ever used thank you for your reply GL with your tests best wishes,,,pat

    To be honest gazza in a "real" dig in bad ground how many machines are gonna hit a 9"gold coin anyway apart from say a gpx , I don't see many popping up on RUclips, and the reason is when a lot of people detect pasture they crank up the sensitivity and used way to much discrimination, mines set to almost "0" and I dig Al iffy signals,
    I'd happily run a ctx on Al metal to get the deep good stuff, regardless of how much iron I dig, its called hard work, theres no perfect machine imo, and I'm glad cus that would take the fun out of the hobby, rant over lol thanks HH ;-)

      Parker these tests were just done to show what people miss, it’s up to you if you act on it. I did and found a gold coin the very next day with my at pro with a 6 inch coil on and with the the 13 inch coil on the at pro will easily detect a gold sov at 9 inches plus in the hobby setting.
      Go to an old hunted out spot and use an at pro, you might have a surprise !

      clixsense walked over hundreds probably, minelabs call gold sovereigns out as iron over 6 inches deep and that’s a fact, even the Ctx 3030 I use now most of the time beach detecting is the same. No problem fella just ignore the advice and keep walking over them, in-fact the cheap Viking detector with a flat battery performs better than the etrac on gold as I show in a later vid

    • @clixsense2192

      I will put a video on show you how it picks gold up with correct settings at 9 inch

      @onlygazza  4 года назад

      clixsense do what you want cos I ain’t interested, did test after test on 4 minelabs, 1 Garret, 1 viking, 1 cscope pi, and the only detector I sold cos it was so poor on gold was the etrak. I literally would not trust that detector at all and would rather run my viking detector.
      Thanks for commenting but if my misses hadn’t bought me that at pro for a birthday present I would never of discovered how crap the etrac was on gold and how good the at pro was on gold.

  • @TrekTracks74
    @TrekTracks74 Год назад +1

    No possible way to claim the AT Pro is a better detector…I own them both Etrac is in a whole different league than Garrett’s dig it and find out detector 🙄

    • @onlygazza
      @onlygazza  Год назад

      I disagree and still have my at pro, Ive now found two gold coins using my methods so it’s up to you if you listen or not. Out if all the detectors I tested back then the atpro bet them all and to this day on digs I go to the garrets still bring up good stuff because they do dig mostly everything and not rely on discrimination.
      I found a hammered coin just the other day with my Tesoro so don’t county these detectors out cos they ain’t new, the etrac had the worst performance on a gold sov out of all my detectors so I sold it the next week !
