      @Andrew Stewarts 1300 rated players blunder mate in one all the time

    • @gustavogoesgomes1863
      @gustavogoesgomes1863 4 года назад +2

      It's possible that it was just a natural blunder, as people in this rating (like me) tend not to think much about mating ideas as they almost never appear before the midgame if you are playing openings that you are used to. And, also, it tends to take too much time off from other calculations and very rarely pays off (I even stopped playing blitz because I couldn't improve anymore because of that, lost a three move mating sequence yesterday because of time trouble and it got me really pissed)

  • @thedoophus

    I am sure people have said this before, but I was playing a game and I just accidentally came up with a great analogy. An opponent making a weird play, sacrificing a piece to damage your pawn structure early on. It's kind of like a paper cut. It will sting and bug you all game to look at it, but ultimately you're up a piece and it doesn't really do much.

      If you want serious improvement you have to play classical. (At least) 15 minute game once or twice a day and analyze without an engine to see what you missed. Turn on the engine at the last moment. Do tactics daily and positional understanding is extremely important in chess. There are alot on chesstempo but there are many fascinating videos by a chess coach youtuber called ChessCoach Andras and he has a series called ”Amateurs Mind” where he explains many things people mistakenly do and what to do instead.
