It's possible that it was just a natural blunder, as people in this rating (like me) tend not to think much about mating ideas as they almost never appear before the midgame if you are playing openings that you are used to. And, also, it tends to take too much time off from other calculations and very rarely pays off (I even stopped playing blitz because I couldn't improve anymore because of that, lost a three move mating sequence yesterday because of time trouble and it got me really pissed)
It would be a revenge fantasy for me if that god-like Sicilian player didn't absolutely decimate Gotham. Sadly, my chronic nightmares of 0% Sicilian winrate will always haunt me. F.
Milan Kotevski He wasn’t though, otherwise he would’ve played queen b6 a while ago. He just played a natural looking move without realising he would get mated
My level jumped dramatically when I started looking for pins, traps and sacs. Even at the low level, players look out for forks and skewers, but they almost always miss pin opportunities and sacs for winning positions.
Right? I'm not even 1000 on Chess.com but I have a very nice win with a queen sac, where I either get my queen back and continue or instantly take all his pieces for a queen. I was very proud when I found the move.
Levy, I enjoy your videos and I appreciate the commentary laced with good humor. I have learned a lot and I would like to see similar series based on other openings, alternating from black and white.
I like to check your opponents rating 3 years after these videos and all of them have a few hundreds points more but not FrostYM(1400). This man probably wanted to prove himself and went all in after your disappointment with his opening and now his Blitz rating is 2500 and its been like that for almost 2 years now. Love to see it
Just wanted to let you know that your e4 ladder climb has been some of the best chess content on youtube during the past few years. Eagerly looking forward to seeing the d4 climb! Hopefully you do something similar with black pieces too. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Hi levy, i ve been watching your chess tutorial recently it helped me a lot, but i must say i love watching you troll even good players hahaha merci beaucoup
After watching this a million times I just realized that in fact it was a stream snipe because how would he tell Levi that it wasn’t a stream snip if he doesn’t mention it
9:25, If there ever was a moment to insert the meme ''You get what you fcking deserve'', it's right here. Btw, love how he just casually continues, not even being salty or angry that he got streamsniped...
Blimey there was me thinking "damn no John Bartholomew anymore" and then this channel comes along ! I've learnt loads already just from a couple of vids. Thanks !
I am sure people have said this before, but I was playing a game and I just accidentally came up with a great analogy. An opponent making a weird play, sacrificing a piece to damage your pawn structure early on. It's kind of like a paper cut. It will sting and bug you all game to look at it, but ultimately you're up a piece and it doesn't really do much.
Thanks for all the great content brother! I went from 600 and hanging all my peices, to 900 and hanging all my peices plus mate in 2 :D lovely!. Keep up the great work man lol
Amazing channel, so much help. I play a lot of the Sicilian kan variation, can you show me how it’s played at your level, I tend too blunder some of the more complicated lines. Cheers either way and keep putting out phenomenal content!
If you want serious improvement you have to play classical. (At least) 15 minute game once or twice a day and analyze without an engine to see what you missed. Turn on the engine at the last moment. Do tactics daily and positional understanding is extremely important in chess. There are alot on chesstempo but there are many fascinating videos by a chess coach youtuber called ChessCoach Andras and he has a series called ”Amateurs Mind” where he explains many things people mistakenly do and what to do instead.
Just found the channel and slowly making my way through the videos. All great content with nice humour. In this video you mention that you should only play the Petroff is you hate life, I've started playing it after a video you did previously which after Nxe5 has Nc6 for the Strafford opening which you suggested was venomous. Am I missing something?
at 36:29 black could had played Bd7 followed by Rd7 Kd7 Kh3 xh4 xh4 g5 with at least some chances to hold the endgame tho white is probably still better because of the past connected pawn on e5

as a 1300, this is like a revenge fantasy for me watching Levy just emasculate the same players that make me tilt on a daily basis
same because you know they make bad moves but not how you punish it properly :/
It would be a revenge fantasy for me if that god-like Sicilian player didn't absolutely decimate Gotham.

That mate on g6 was so funny. Trap not set on the board, but rather on the stream and he fell for it. Genius!
I mean its impossible to be certain bc one day i played a dumb move And lost a game kinda like that so it could be an honest mistake
