(If that’s even remotely true, eventually exponential data growth will destroy their network as the current storage rate of solid state drives is not matching the growth rate of data files) I remember it originally being pitched as just fast data transfer that was born from the audio based music search engine, meaning it’s stored on a “server” (ie the original host computer “always on”, and then if you want it on your mobile or other device, you open the pied Piper app and it instantly transfers the file from the original host of the pied Piper servers to your device via a lightning fast compression algorithm that all your files go through when they’re “added” to the pied Piper network. So if their servers were destroyed and the original host data is “gone” (quoted from them indicating the host machine doesn’t have it anymore either) then all those files are constantly and FOREVER floating around from device to device even when no one is using them? That sounds like a HORRIBLE idea and would absolutely kill the battery and data limits of those devices at even a 5 times compression rate. I refuse to believe this is just a tv show theme and not mimicking real tech as everything else they’ve done has. I STILL feel like I’m missing something. In Mike Judge I trust, so I’m assuming I’m just not getting it.
