I realized this is a late comment, but I didn't see any other replies. Some people make roller skates out of soccer cleats and other sport shoes. You can probably find a thread on skatelog forums about it, as that's where I've seen it the most.
I hope you found your skates! To answer your question, it's possible but most shoes need some reinforcement to become roller skates because a roller skate has a fairly inflexible sole.

A very comfortable shoe, not cheap though, you pay for the good quality, I've had mine about 12 years, still going strong!
