- In this video I’ll be rebuilding a retro 1992 Claud Butler Spectre mountain bike. Even with a 531 frame this beast weighs 16.34 KG! Sturdy you might say.. Quite good condition for its age but had problems including: Broken brake / gear levers (also incorrect period) headset seal hanging out, change of rear cassette and just in need of good service. Wheel bearings were good and sealed bottom bracket good but a full strip down, clean and rebuild to get his bike riding like the day it came off the shelf back in 92

A very well built frame in 531 loved it
Thanks again. This was actually quite a nice bike to ride. Probably a little low on the front end for me these days but on the road it cruised lovely.
great catch!
And no overrestoring! 😜😅
@@bikerebuilder damn straight!
It would be interesting to know what your back ground training was my friend. It's always nice to see someone who is using quality tools and moreso with good technique. The bike overhaul and transformation would definitley give another 10 years of servicable life with the odd bit of fettling here and there to say the least. Thanks for sharing the rebuild buddy 👍
Love claud butler s . I had a few love the jarma and shonbi
Awesome job! 🎉
Thanks! Cleaned up quite nice didn’t it.
Чудесное перевоплощение велосипеда Браво за труды .
Great looking bike! Good job 👍
Thanks! Was going going to keep this one but someone really took a shine to it and off it went to a new home.
@@bikerebuilder Not surprised, I brought a pink one recently for the 500LX group set and sold the frame on to be built up into something else. Was a shame to split it with Wolber AT20 rims too. Got a few projects on the go myself. Where are you based? Would be good to hear your thoughts.
@@jamespatterson8013 I’m in Lincolnshire mate. Sometimes you just need a bike for the stuff that’s on it. The way I look at is if the frame moves on then somebody else has plans for it anyway 🙂
You on instagram too?
@@jamespatterson8013It goes straight over my ahead that instagram stuff 🤣 I’ll have a look at it one day.
I like that bike
Thank you. I thought it was quite an aggressive looking bike in the end. Really pleased with how it looked.
Added another 50 years
Yes! This bike will still be rolling over the soil when I’m long gone under it 🤣
