Here’s some advice :):try petting only on the neck or head because when mating the male jumps on the back and if you pet them there then they will feel confused.
Feed them veggies and fruit aswell to avoid food fattening.
That’s all I have just look at other tubers for more info I would prefer Ella and the birds because she has that type of bird
1 more thing when you get a new bird you should let him settle in and don’t stress him out :)

Not meaning to be rude but I have some recommendations: Bigger cage, natural perches, more toys and foraging items and try and switch her diet to veggies/fruits. Let your bird settle in before taking it out of her/his cage. He/she is stressed and people crowding and raising their voices definitely won't help calm him/her down same with grabbing him. Nipping is him/her telling you to “stop” what your doing.
Be nice to your doggo, please.
    - I recommend doing a lot of research of how to gain your birds trust and figure out what your bird needs to be happy!

Hi, Quaker Parrots are a wonderful thing. But they are a ton of work. Make sure you do your research. One common mistake people make is keeping there bird on an all seed diet. This is so unhealthy and seeds are the number one cause of death among pet birds in the US. This is because they are so high in fat that the bird can not burn all of it. Therefore they get diseases like fatty liver disease and they can also get lipomas. The seeds also cut there life span in half and that mixed with the bad genetics from the pet store are awful. Please convert your birds to pellets and chop if you have not already. Do your research and give your birds the best life possible. It is very important to look at and study the negative effects, then work on the fun stuff. The cage is another big mistake that people make just do some research and use reliable sources. Also being gentile and not so loud and excited with him/her is important. Parrots can feel energy emitted by humans. When a human has to much energy the bird can become scared and this can lead to unwanted behaviors like biting. PLEASE PLEASE DO MORE RESEARCH

Adorable quaker, but you guys aren't treating him right. The cage is ok, but it's still kinda small and not enough toys. He's not being sassy, he just wants some time alone and you should respect that. Also you shouldn't have a cat around him no matter what. And when I heard that you said that he's easy to take care of......birds are not easy to take care of unless you don't take care of em right. he bit you to tell you to leave him alone.

I know this was probably an impulse buy, but PLEASE do your research!!
    1. You should never touch a bird's back as it can make the bird sexually confused and aggressive.
    2. That cage is too small. A cage for a quaker should be a least 24x24x24.
    3. Having a quaker parrot around little children can be very dangerous for your bird as they are very delicate.
    4. Having a dog around a bird is dangerous!! Please, keep the dog away.
    5. I couldn't see to well, but if the bird is on an all seed diet, then you need to change that immediately. They can get so many illnesses from the amount of fat that is in seeds.
    6. The poor parrot is stressed because there are tons of kids trying to grab him. Please, give him space.
Please, study more on quakers and give your bird the long, happy life it deserves!

I wouldn’t get any medium -large birds until my kids are grown as I have 5 young kids right now my oldest is 11, my youngest 4. I have ONE small cute as EVER tiny budgie girl “Luna” she is UNCAGED AND UNCLIPPED . She came to me wild and free and was never forced into a cage and left there. With respect and patience I earned her trust and could touch and ask her to stand on my finger with millet and give her the space if not.
she has a BEAUTIFUL BIG cage open all the time for her but choose to spend most time outside her cage in my room where I spend majority of my time and my kids spend time and older ones train her too she loves them and isn’t scared by much, she gets at least 2 hours a day spend on straight attention and training and care for her and the rest of the time she’s always in the same room with me , she’s adorable and perfect and the loveliest little buddy budgie you ever would see!

I am getting a bird soon, instead of impulse buying I did research before I got it. I have not got my bird yet. I cleaned my room, my bathroom, I changed so much in my home for this bird. Then we for these parents getting their kids bird and treating them AWFULLY. Petting the back?? Not listening to his obvious signs of annoyance, automatically playing with him instead of letting him bond and get used to the bird, being loud around him, saying youre gonna CLIP HIS WINGS?? Blowing in his face?? AGITATING HIM to the point he bites, letting the kids grab him (you need a birds trust to grab them), only getting smooth cylinder perch (which can cause birds to have arthritis and multiple problems), also the way she yells at the dog?? the way she is annoyed of the poop and squacking?? the way you dont clean the cage DAILY, only have a seed diet, yelling at the bird?? yall are cruel. the way you GRABBED HIS BEAK?? youre also punishing him by putting him in the cage after he poops, if you cant handle all of this DONT GET A BIRD. YOU ALSO CAN TELL THE GENDER. It is not hard thats how we know you didn’t do proper research. If you like to complain about what I am saying dont bother getting pets if you refuse to do research and properly care for your pet. i doubt theyll keep the bird long, and if they do ill feel bad

I know. I’m a recent bird owner but I’ve being researching for about seven months about the proper care, diet and supplies. This seems like an impulse buy and I couldn’t help noticing several dowel perches and a small amount of toys. While the cage is small it could be okay so long as the bird is out most of the day. I’d love to take Odie off their hands since I have two large flight cages, 1 for my cockatiel named Sushi and 1 for a new bird I haven’t decided on yet. I’m set on Ringnecks at the moment but I’d gladly adopt this adorable Quaker.

oh god, first off...that cage is WAY too small for a quaker, even a parakeet. You need to let them fly around sometimes around the cage jumping from perch to perch and teach them what they can perch up on and what not too, like my cockatoo usually perches on top of her cage or one of the stands i have for her. You should also not pet the back of a bird because it triggers sexual and hormonal confusions and he will think you are trying to mate with him. You should usually pet the head, and for food feed him natural pellets, and cut up veggies and fruit. do not buy anything coated with yogurt or honey since birds are lactose intolerant and for the honey, if you give the bird that much sugar a lot it triggers the bird to be overprotective of its space and not want to hand with you.

And also I know you posted this a long time ago but you can not be loud when you get them he was probably really scared and you aren’t supposed to hold them for 2 days after getting them.

It’s actually hard to own a bird
Also you should not pet the back and put paper towels or something under the cage so you don’t have to vaccum
Also if he or she bits just act like you don’t care because they will stop

Maybe birds would not be the best idea. They are very hard to take care of, and plenty of research. You also do not have a big enough cage, and not enough toys. I am not trying to ruin your fun or anything.
