During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

I swear, the end of 2013 to the beginning of 2014 was possibly the best time for anything car-related, but mostly Mercedes-Benz. High end cars really shined at the time. Today kind of feels a bit boring (that's how I put it) compared to back then.
Anything AMG touches turns to gold.

I LOVE THE GL63 AMG! It's probably my favourite 7 passenger SUV. It's so aggressive yet very luxurious. Plus, that V8 BiTurbo sounds menacing.

I've seen this SUV in person many times. it goes like a sports car. looks like a Truck. the inside feels like a First class seat on a plane

No, that title is strictly reserved for Land Rover. One of my grandfather's vehicles was a 2007 Range Rover, purchased brand new, and it was a real piece -- The "flash" quickly loses its appeal following the 10th shop visit within a years period.
Nick Rodriguez You might be right about that one, but this can't be much better. I know of one owner that just dumped $11,000 in drivertrain repairs for their 2 year old GL550.
JAKE20fivefive the Q7 is more reliable and it’s arguable which looks better both in and out.. and please don’t compare engine power as it’s useless for the road.
I just took deliver of my '15 E63 S model wagon and I cannot say enough good things about it. We needed a wagon or SUV and my husband (me too, admittedly) wanted a sports car. We got both in the E63 wagon and it's just as practical and almost as roomy. The GL cost more and the ride and uniqueness weren't even close to the E63. I have never owned a Merc, my husband has. I'm a Volvo girl (they have the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in). The gas mileage in the E63 kind of sucks but that is expected from a 577HP car. But is insanely fast, 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. We got a 2 year lease and will probably purchase at the end of the lease depending on its reliability during the lease. Sorry, I just realized I'm reviewing my own E63, not this model. The GL is probably more easily available, we had to wait 4 months to get the E63.

My mom just got an ml63 with the performance pack and it's so sweet.
This is the best family SUV ever built! The luxury and space is unimaginably great. But it's quite big for German roads. I wouldn't wanna drive it around here...

Fantastic review. Kyle is always great but I really enjoyed this one. Would of been interesting to see the trunk space with all the seats folded down as it looks dead flat!

fosterliberty Built in the states, yes. But it was developed in Germany and it follows a very european way of building luxury SUVs. It is very different from the Burb, Escalade, Expedition, Yukon ect.

I love this suv! Probably my favorite. But the middle console on dashboard is really outdated. Mercedes has had that same design for over a decade. They definitely need to create a new design where the CD player is at
Funny to think how Merc stopped doing AMG vehicles with model numbers meaning their engine size
Same with BMW, the F30 328i now only has a 2 litre twin turbo engine
yeah i think because they have the same power if not more and most importantly is they built the reputation with the 63 number so at least non car guys people will know that's the top of the line one! i mean if they put 55 a lot of 'em will think ''you know this is not the fastest there is 63''

You should hear the 1700 watt 29 speaker Meridian system in the Range Rover. They demonstrated it at the CAIAS and I think it'd make you go deaf after a while lol.

The lower right button by the COMAND knob changes. start at 24:23 and look at it again a few seconds later. Weird!! and it gets more gas at 26:28
I believe that he switched to a different GL because the GL63 could have gone on a test drive or something. You can notice the car is different because the auto button in the 63 is split up into 2 buttons and the auto button in the other GL is one

I like the interior, but maybe the sat nav screen is actually a little too small? Given the size of the vehicle and the class it's in.

Real nice vehicle but i don't understand performance suv's and crossovers. I'd rather have some kind of a performance oriented car such as a Mustang gt for a 2 door or Chrysler 300 srt8 for a 4 door. If i want an suv I'll go get a new Platinum expedition, they're way cheaper than ones like this, parts and service is more local and cheap, and they are very nicely loaded. Yeah there are lots of them around and they aren't at the top of any niche but they do the trick and are available with an ecoboost v6 now. If you can afford to buy one of these to begin with, you can afford a cheaper car and suv.

Definitely not a truck. The chassis is based from an S class. The Escalade is a truck.
***** wrong. They are CUVs. The chassis is based from the S-Class. Don't believe me look it up. Also, in case you didn't know, MB is going to change the name to GLS. BTW, I own one and i know the difference.
The Escalade is a truck based SUV with the same chassis as the pickups like the Silverado and larger axles.
you got a lot to learn kid. start doing better research and get some hands on experience about these cars before you spew crap.

It basically comes down to the weight of the vehicle. The govt uses something called Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) SUV trucks like the Tahoe, Escalade, Expeditions weight over 7000 lbs 5594 curb weight, which is categorized as trucks. GL is much lower than that. Its's really weird. Also the size as well. Comparing the dimensions between the Escalade and GL550, 2007-2012 GL is much smaller.
The newer models of Escalades changed to match the size of newer GL class as a competitor for the same category, but there is a difference in chassis between the two.
US Government has their own way of categorizing vehicles .
How are you liking your mom's 63?
***** It's all most the same, but varies in different state. I know in Montana you can drive when you are 14 with supervision. In FL and TX, 15 years you can get a permit with a licensed person. 16 years-21 years can drive on own but can't drive from 11pm-5am. 22 over you are free.
Since you got the GL63, it has the surround camera and sensors so they are very useful for parking.
My advise for you for parking a large vehicle, go light left 2-4 feet before the parking space then turn into the spot. Don't go straight in and park like a car because it will not only damage your car but others. Larger vehicle always need wide turns. Remember that.
I wish the previous body style GL had come in an AMG option. This redesign is still growing on me.

Love your reviews. Make I make a request? Can you please tell us the names of the colors of the cars you are reviewing? For example, this looks like palladium silver with platinum white designo interior. It would really help to see the colors in real world application, many of the designo interiors can't be selected/viewed on the MB build your own website. Thank you!

Very nice! Loved the exhaust note and turbo whistle in the beginning of the video. The interior is very nice as well. Price is a bit high, but then again it is an AMG model.

I looked on the Mercedes-Benz website and build and priced a GL63. The starting price was $118,160. If you want one, start saving now, because that is a lot of money!

For some reason I can't stand that the LED light strand on the headlights are the blinker yellow and not just clear. Would look soooo much sharper if they were clear colour.
