Awesome lesson and clearly explained.thanks for making the huge effort to assist other guitar players. Wish I has this available 40years ago Thanks again,
Devin, this is Sheeba from Bangalore, India. This lesson is just unbelievable. I’ve heard this maybe about 10 times and got the hang of it now. Can’t wait to try it out... heard your other lessons too!! It’s just fantastic. Just what I wanted... a little fill riff to break the monotonous rhythm. A great channel!! Great teaching...Thanks a million!!
Thank you! It's kinda funny how people come along in your life, right time, right place. Just gotta be prepared for those moments! Again. Thank you very much! Dingus
It seems I'm coming full circle. Just over five years ago in 2012 I finally got around to picking up the guitar, mainly because of my falling in love with country music while in college.Yet , at this point I'm not quite good at(as you would say) "understanding what I'm playing "scale wise . I still have to master playing scales as well as improve my ear training. So this video I expect will be a great help.
Thanks for watching! Yep, for sure...here's a more recent video with the same concepts but switching to the key of D scales ruclips.net/video/wpIAoNCEg5Q/видео.html
just what I was looking for - was just starting my scales. I mainly play acoustic so have mainly focused on chord patterns for my first year or so of learning but want that extra spice lead riffs give acoustic playing. Thanks.
Nice! Hope it impresses. I'm going to add more lessons to this series soon at CGO...going to change keys and travel up the neck a bit..pretty cool stuff on the way! Thanks for the note. - Devin
Nathan Keehn thanks! I like Elixer Nanoweb phosphor bronze mediums. Added some bone bridge pins to this guitar that give it some extra sustain also. Here’s a link www.guitarsaddles.com/products.asp
Thanks! You mean how do you know it's an open string looking at the diagram? All the open string notes run vertically on the far left above the thick line that's supposed to be the nut of the guitar. That answer your question?
I usually pick different strings over the C and D chords...Over the C chord, I'll usually do a pick on 5 then pick on 4..and over the D chord I'll do pick on 4 then pick on 5 -- just reverse order. Also over the C chord, sometimes I'll do pick on 5 then shift my left ring finger to the 6th string 3rd fret and pick there..hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks! - Devin
Sorry for all the questions but could you just use these little filler riffs with something like 'Knockin' on heavens door' ? or a similar acoustic track which I believe is in G.....also where's the pdf mate ? I cant find.....thanks :) amazing lesson!.
You can find the pdf here countryguitaronline.com/adding-fills-between-your-chords-with-the-g-major-scale/ ...the button's right below the video. Yeah, they'd work great with just about any song in the key of G...or use the capo if it's in another key and play these same fills. The farther we get in the series, I'll show some more examples of how to apply this to some different songs like "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and I'll add some jam along videos. Anyways, let me know if you have questions on this stuff and thanks for watching! - Devin
Here's one I got from a few weeks ago you might like...more intermediate to advanced riffs same style as those fast ones...ruclips.net/video/EAlSfr5dzMU/видео.html
No worries man, I get it. People like to post negative comments to make themselves feel better. Pretty used to used to it at this point. Have a good one - Devin
Thanks, you too. I wasn't intent on slighting you, think of it as constructive rather than negative. The get-up makes you come off as a bit contrived and inauthentic. I'd say the same if you were posting Ozzy licks with a mullet, knuckle tats and eyeliner. You want people to focus on your music (which is legit), not your outfit. Also I legitimately despise hipsters. God bless.
spicybrandon nah dude you were slighting lol...and the comment actually didn’t make too much sense...the only thing someone might see as hipster in my appearance is my beard, and beards have been around way longer than the new term “hipster” that people are throwing around. Either way, I feel like writing negative comments about someone’s appearance is pretty rude.
One of the best teachers for this minds music. Best best best explanations. Thank you, Dev.
Awesome lesson and clearly explained.thanks for making the huge effort to assist other guitar players. Wish I has this available 40years ago Thanks again,

Nice! Hope it impresses. I'm going to add more lessons to this series soon at CGO...going to change keys and travel up the neck a bit..pretty cool stuff on the way! Thanks for the note. - Devin
what kind and weight of strings do you have on that guitar? I love the sound of them and how long they resonate
Nathan Keehn thanks! I like Elixer Nanoweb phosphor bronze mediums. Added some bone bridge pins to this guitar that give it some extra sustain also. Here’s a link www.guitarsaddles.com/products.asp
@@countryguitaronline That guy is using elephant ivory. I wouldn't feel comfortable contributing to his business. There are many sustainable options.
Devin, another great video. I was just wondering how you know when a note is an open string? that's the only thing that confuses me.
Also when you do the boom chick, are the strings your pick for the boom chick are they the same for the C and D chord?
Thanks! You mean how do you know it's an open string looking at the diagram? All the open string notes run vertically on the far left above the thick line that's supposed to be the nut of the guitar. That answer your question?
No when you were hitting each note it looked like you didn't put your finger down on a couple of the strings and you just played that scale note open.
That does make sense. Thanks again for all the help. I'll get it all down one day.

Add fills in key of c please.
For sure, key of C fills are on the way...also going to do some cool fills in A, E, and F

Why the costume i dont get it. Hipsters ruin everything.
