- Turn on C.C. for help: There are a lot of fake dog math videos where a dog taps it's foot or barks until the owner tells him/her to stop with a body language cue. You'll notice the difference between Veeshee and the fakes is that he looks at the item he's counting (my fingers) and has a tone change (downward inflection) with the number 5 to indicate it will be the last word, this shows confidence this is the last word and he won't be counting higher. Unlike the fake math dogs, Veeshee can only count to small numbers 1-5 pretty easily, sometimes as high as 10. Adding and subtraction may be within his realm of understanding, but I could never teach him to multiply or divide.
As the dog trainer, it's very obvious when a dog is doing math vs following body cues. I find it hard to believe the owner is ever "not aware" as I hear often repeated by non dog trainers. Teaching a dog to stop barking on cue is very easy compared to teaching a dog real math, even basic counting. I don't have to know the answer. He can count things I haven't seen. Veesheeballa is also a real vocal talking dog, so he counts the numbers rather than barking. If you have trouble understanding "Dog Dialect English" you can simply use the number of sounds he makes. Check out his math test in an earlier video, where he got a C. I think he's been improving since then. Missing questions is actually a sign he's doing the math and not reading body language, since the former is harder for dogs, like kids they make math mistakes when they start learning.
