Absolutely marvellous. It hasn't changed has it? My son has done the trooping twice. What a wonderful tradition. I wonder how many of these soldiers died in WW2.

My wife’s grandfather paraded with the whole 2nd Canadian Division for King George V in 1915 before they left the UK for France. He was with the 31st Bn CEF (Alberta).

The drill movements are different to today, they do not raise their legas parallel with the ground, all the guards are of a simular height. There are a lot more guards on parade.

      ??
Considering that they did away with height restrictions some years ago, that is puzzling to read. Their heights are divergent now. They were far more equally tall then.

strange to see how much the foot drill has changed since this was filmed, the arms are swung only waist high and the knee is only half bent unlike todays guards drill. the arm is swung shoulder high and the knee is always bent with the thigh being parallel to the ground before the foot is driven down to the ground in a smart and solider like manor. up the micks

Both the UK and Germany have great military traditions, uniforms and marches. I honestly prefer more traditonal uniforms (such as the British Household Division's uniforms) for ceremonial purposes.

Nowadays, german marches are not much, however the prussian march tradition is best continued by Chile.
