You have to give Phil X credit for not only being a top-notch guitarist but having such a musical résumé. He plays styles and artists from all decades, but hearing Zeppelin, Joe Walsh, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, and Steppenwolf! C'mon, how cool is this guy? Rock on Phil!
I love how he gets inspired by the tone and then rips something that matches it. Its great hearing famous songs done on with amazing tone. Phil cracks me up!!!
Thats what i love about this guy, pure skill and a good laugh. But most importantly plays vintage guitars like they are meant to be played. None of this "oh no its a 63 strat, better baby it" Rock 'n' roll at its finest...and he plays all the classics! Its a win win Cheers, Mikey
Top stuff, I'm glad he aint working in my music shop, man I'd buy everything on that wall. He has a great way of putting things over. What does it for me is that he plays this guitar and don't sit cuddling and polishing it, and I bet that's the first thrashing it's ever had in it's life. Keep on keeping on brother.
That is one beautiful Fiesta red, that's definitely my favourite custom colour, the old Fiesta red. The new fiesta red fender puts out looks like an orange tomato soup and not red. Still, beautiful guitar and great playing as usual by Phil X!
couldn't agree more; watching an accomplished guitarist play their interpretations of songs along with using your ears can quickly improve your playing along with giving you something that money can't possibly buy; the desire to actually learn (although a lefty Fender Jaguar wouldn't go amiss for me right now!) tabs can be convenient but they often give no real sense of timing and can leave you blinkered into playing a song in a disjointed style.
What??? No "Smoke On The Water"??? LOL! Man, I came to see the Strat in action---an' I got a SHOW to-boot! About the forth-time watching---I FINALLY got a good-look at the "hardware"! Hell, I think a fella could give you a broom-stick an' a roll of floss---an' he'd STILL get a show outta it!!! You ROCK, dude.....!!! (Nope, I never played the "ax"---but, my sister sure could, in her "glory-days"....!!!☺)
Phil's version of I Wish is incredible! I'm trying to learn his version as I type this. Speaking of wishes, I wish all music shop were more like this and less miserly when it comes to shop instruments! i understand their concerns about potential damage but guitars are meant to be played (and appreciated) like Phil does when tried out!
you are an extremely gifted guitarist, and I enjoy hearing you play these guitars each respectively in the right way. i am getting the simon neil fiesta red strat because it is as close as i can come to this one you are playing for my money. thanks and keep on rockin' on
guessing those sunbursts got repainted fiesta red due to Hank Marvin back in the 60s?... just guessing for fun, just love these demos - Phil is so fun to watch!!
Will do on the next batch of guits but really... Only use tab as a last resort. Listening to learn is amazing ear training and gives u a better musical sense. Having great ears has made me the player I am today.
love the colour of that guitar with the cream pick guard! Sounds sweet too. I'm repainting my Fender Bullet a deep yellow. Not sure if I'll keep the pick guard white or strip it down to bare metal...
if I had to pick between les paul or strat, I always say strat. More open, for anything. I have one 79. Of course I would like to have any Les Paul, cause thats 2 guitars. No third
Hey guys, I just came across a pedal called the Rockbox Boling Point. It's pretty expensive, but plugged into my Deluxe, it definitely gives that ToneMaster sound when adjusted right. Given your numbers, I should think they'd let you demo one for the vids.
correct me if im wrong but, the two tone knobs on the strat are for when you use the 2nd and the 4th positions. these strats only have 3 positions, why two tone knobs? btw this guitar is hot
@MrFenderbender97 Its simple, one is for the middle, other is for the neck pickup. Its good when you want to have 2 different tone settings on 2 different pickups with flip of a switch. You can rewire them anyway you like ofc... :)
thumbs up if your wondering why the two top comments are about pee and not about how awesome the guitar was or how awesome it was being played by the incredible Phillip Augustus Leonidas Xenidis?
It really depends. If u wanted to sound like a great strat u can get Texas Specials that were designed after the SRV sound. SD make great pickups too. I put a L'il '59 in a strat & it sounded awesome but it didn't sound like a strat. I also hear Loller makes amazing stuff too but I've never tried them.
@PBANDSNOW in the 60's the pickguards were made with a material that shrank over time, so all original strats from the 60'shave that crack near the screw

Man, Phil RULES! The playing is great and I love the joy he puts into everything. Reminds me why we all started playing guitar in the first place.
Phil is a super busy session guitarist, we just happened to be lucky enough to have him come in and do his thing once in a while!!
Phil is truly an inspiration, not only is he a great guitar player HANDS DOWN, but he has an awesome personality. He's the man!
I love how he gets inspired by the tone and then rips something that matches it. Its great hearing famous songs done on with amazing tone.
Phil cracks me up!!!

man i can watch phil play all day hes just make me wanna play a guitar :)
I think I have watched every one of your strat videos and this one is BY FAR the best sounding one.
Phil X and FrettedAmericana rule!

I'm about to buy a black strat with a pearl pickgaurd from a friend it looks so sweet!!
Inspiring! Love the energy!
That little lick after the solo for Steppenwolf was hilarious! I couldn't breathe after you played that! Keep it up!

Phil acts like a comedian but he is obviously a very accomplished guitarist. Seriously.
This guy and Gearmandude are the best reviewers ever!

Heard this amp on few videos now. It is magic.
Amazing sounding strat! Phil rocks!!!!
I watch this video 3 times a day it seems like just to listen to u play music. Its better then all the recordings!!! More fender 63 videos???
Phil is amazing, and always laughing / smiling !
He loves his job. So do we :p
the Strat + AC10 combination is just amazing. it's like what every ts-808 type overdrive pedal aims for but never quite pulls off.
The thing you're on, I want the same haha
Genius, Fretted Americana. Phil X is one of only a handful of guys that could actually sell these unbelievable guitars in a RUclips video.
Amazing sounding guitar!!
Awesome playing! Loved it
Yes you've done it before. Do it again Phil! I wish those days could come back once more!
His voice always sounds ace you mad head!
you are an extremely gifted guitarist, and I enjoy hearing you play these guitars each respectively in the right way. i am getting the simon neil fiesta red strat because it is as close as i can come to this one you are playing for my money. thanks and keep on rockin' on

Nice demo...♪...♫
Great Rock'n roll attitude !!
That ac30 - 20 is awesome. Great demo
3:20 FTW... what a sound, what a playing... great stuff. And guitar is great too ;) .
This man has a crazy ass blues flow... fucking awesome to see a musician actually feel the music instead of just playing it
best video from you so far :) Thank you for such a great show!
for a sec I thought Phil was gonna smash that strat to conclude the solo, wicked
awesome as usual, Phil!
this is the best strat i've ever heard
guessing those sunbursts got repainted fiesta red due to Hank Marvin back in the 60s?... just guessing for fun, just love these demos - Phil is so fun to watch!!

Guitar skills + upbeat personality = win win.
Beautiful Feel Brother
Man, I want to work in a guitar shop. Try new guitar everyday and get paid. This dude has the most awesome job. Beside, he is pretty good too.
Will do on the next batch of guits but really... Only
use tab as a last resort. Listening to learn is amazing ear training and gives u a better musical sense. Having great ears has made me the player I am today.
Best Stevie Wonder cover, need to learn it

this man is an ecstasy!!
awesome coked up playing
5:94 OMG I LOVED THAT SONG LOL.
life has been good:) also phil x was born to be wild
Well maybe with the pick 'cause u can't really avoid that
but the way I hold a guitar is on an angle so the buckle
never touches the body.
this is why I love strats!!!!!!!!!
if I had to pick between les paul or strat, I always say strat. More open, for anything. I have one 79. Of course I would like to have any Les Paul, cause thats 2 guitars. No third
I am officially one of your screaming fans
I was like =o
the cover of I Wish rocks my world
best job ever.
My favourite guitar!
I LOVE this color :O
you need to do more SRV!! you are awesome

whoa...Phil looks alot like Tory Belleci from Mythbusters in this one! never noticed the similarity before
That's a one fine guitar.
in the backround i see a fender tele plus.. is it sold? when i go to the website its not available.....
wow 0.0 love that Strat!
what's that song in 3:28? really love that energy
Does anyone know what is the name of the background song in first 15s of this video? Phil X kicks ass!!!! :)
@RT101894
that's the inversion at the end when the song fades.
i wish i could play "i wish" just like you.
hey Is there any rosewood fretboard telecaster clip ???
correct me if im wrong but, the two tone knobs on the strat are for when you use the 2nd and the 4th positions. these strats only have 3 positions, why two tone knobs?
btw this guitar is hot
i'm restoring that guitar for my first project yay

He's the best.
I`m a 7ender fan, but i wanna see some les pauls here Phill!!
