Beautiful rendition originally created by Kelubabu for his prized student, Sanjukta Panigrahi. Diksha Rath does complete justice to it with her aesthetics and expression. Superb indeed.🙏🙏🏽🧿

I know literally nothing about classical dance. If I had ever enjoyed dance, it was entirely the dances performed by actors in movies and pop singers.
I never raised above that level, and even thought of classical dances as a funny thing. But, lately, I have started enjoying classical dance, especially this “pallavi” format [i.e. the performance of the collection of movements and postures which is not acting out the lyrics of the song sung. I don’t even know if Pallavi really means that at all]. I’m so ignorant of dance.
I find the graceful and symmetrical movements delicately constructed by the Indian classical dance form are exquisite and a treat to the eye. I doubt any classical dance format from any part of the world can rival the intricacies of Indian classical dance. I see behind every movement and posture centuries of unrelenting fine-tuning and cultivation. When I watch movie dances nowadays, I can’t help feeling that they are to classical dance are what a cartoon to a live face. They seemed to me to be very rudimentary, uncultured, and coarse.
Am I looking at the classical dance the way a person is supposed to do, the way a person of fine taste would do?! I am clueless.. Can someone enlighten me please?!?

Yes you're absolutely correct and this originates from Odisha a state in India and the oldest classical dance form called as Odissi dance .. it's history is beyond 2000 years and there are literal proofs of existence of this dance and this form is totally based upon the exquisite temple dancer sculptures of Kalinga.. gald you had pleasure watching Odissi.. infact all other 7 classical dance forms are beautiful but mostly I love odissi because I'm from Odisha and It's just so divine.. no one can rival it's beauty.. explore more of odissi you'll be amazed

And a pallavi in odissi is a form of Nritta or pure dance based on meaning less lyrics on a particular Raga just like this pallavi is based upon Raga Bageshri and a particular tala like Ekatali or there are endless ragas and talas in Odissi classical music a form of Indian classical music.. and the odissi repertoire is huge.. It starts with a beautiful invocation called Mangalacharan dedicated to a particular hindu god.. mostly Lord jagannath the lord of Odisha and world and ishta deva or main god prayer like praying Ganesha or Shiva or Durga or whomever you like then .. comes pure dance explaining the music instruments and basics of Odissi called Sthai or Battu depending upon the schools you're learning in .. them comes pure dance pallavi (may extend upto 25 minutes sometimes) then comes abhinaya or acting.. on a Geeta Govinda a devotional poem scripture of Odisha or lord Jagannath's prayers or Shri Krishna's Leela rasa any contemporary topics as well mostly devotional.. at last Moksha or the Liberation having a fast dance piece and a prayer for harmony... That's pretty much all didn't go much into details or else you'll be boomed 😂😂 lol.. keep loving odissi ❤

@@sabitapanigrahi1197 I’m already boomed 🙈😂. For I am such an ignorant person. .
In fact, I always think the attire of an Odissi dancer more beautiful than that of a Bharatha Naattiyam dancer, even though I am from Tamil Nadu. 😝 As far as the dance as such is concerned, I am at loss to make a judgment. For I am a simpleton, as you can see .
I tend to think that Bharatha Naattiyam excels in forceful movements, whereas Odissi in elegant ones. But I maybe completely wrong here and it maybe very presumptuous of me to even dare to make an opinion on this matter. .
Anyways, thanks a lot for having cared and taking time to respond to me. God be with you. .

@@Satheesh-Catholic you're correct.. In classical dance Bharatnatyam is designated with The soul of fire and Odissi with Water... Kathak with wind.. odissi has a balance of forceful or energetic movements along with soft and graceful movements.. I mean even if I'm doing a tandava or raudra rasa act in odissi I have to do it gracefully.. and Bharatnatyam has more straight and pointy geometric movements like straight lines triangles rectangles but odissi has more circular and curvy movements obviously.. talking about the costumes part .. it's definitely beautiful.. both's costume are beautiful.. Odissi's costume needs another talk in itself.. both dances are the oldest and it's the beauty of India.. preservation!!
