another point with the mix of english and other languages is that a lot of people in other countries can speak some kind of english nowadays. the US are just very monolingual, though lots of foreign countries are multilingual (i just wrote an essay on this trust 💀) if they didn’t speak some kind of english, they probably do not play rec room solely for the fact that it is a game created in english if you catch my drift
I am bilingual I was born in a hispanic family and had to learn spanish but at school I had to also learn english because it is the main language talked in the U.S.
I'm being nerdy but 6:50 funny thing about this Japanese translation, almost the whole sentence is words borrowed from English: スコアボードのスタートボタンを押してプレイします is basically: ScoreboardのStartButtonを押してPlayします スコアボード - sukoaboodo - scoreboard スタートボタン - sutaato'botan - Start Button プレイ - purei - play And tbh that's most translations for video games. The settings menu for Japanese on RR is also mostly borrowed words
I'm learning Japanese+Spanish and sometimes I'll do this to help me learn. It helps me memorize different things and even though not much is translated it still helps quite a lot! (Trying to learn 2 languages at the same time sucks btw XD)
I do think they should change the text on everything to the language your using, but I dont think they would change the text on posters & stuff since they are in game models.

2:10 On language support in rooms: It is extremely difficult to support certain languages in rooms, specifically ones that use different writing systems, such as Korean, Japanese, Arabic, and Chinese. Even though you can for some reason send messages in those languages (except Arabic) on the watch (as long as you're in screen mode), last I checked circuits do not support those writing systems, so you can't make UI prompts or text or anything in rooms be in one of those languages. In order to give some sort of support to players using those languages, you would have to use the maker pen to physically draw out each character which takes up ink and time, and would need a separate UI system from whatever circuits you have, so many creators don't. Likewise, you cannot use special characters in room names, so all names have to at least be in the letters of the alphabet though I'm not sure that can ever change. And ofc you can't write in other writing systems using the Rec Room in-game keyboard either in VR. However, the descriptions of some rooms will be automatically translated to whatever language you have set, so that's kinda cool.
@@Luna_moona457 I haven't really been in those rooms myself but I usually get invited to quite a few Arab rooms and tbh it's impressive they put the work in. I'm not sure how difficult it is to write Arabic out with the maker pen, but I know writing anything out with the maker pen, especially nicely, can be time-consuming

as someone who’s first language is German, playing rec room isn’t that hard. Sure its weird seeing random English words, but it’s helped me learn English and make it my second language! Thanks to rec room and duolingo, you would think English was my first language !❤
You're right. So many things have been occupying my time that I just have enough time to edit the videos. I plan to stream when I get a normal week again
The language setting is NOT yet completed thats why i use English and no Spanish as my nomal language Spanish (i dont use translate i learn English from school and Duolingo)
I’m German and working on my English, but ngl some translation are a bit funky, even for me. For example recroom originals were once called “real recroom” but idk if they changed that. There are some things except the watch that are translated. I have seen people get their graduation gown box in German or other things, but that could be class related. Orientation at the end when it says welcome it should be translated too, but like I said a lot could have changed and I haven’t been there In a while so idk. 🤷 But it’s still cool nonetheless, it just gets a bit awkward if you have to explain to your friend how to turn off a certain setting while having it on a different language 😅
I hope they add some kind of google translate for all the cv2 chips that is easy to set up but is also easy to change if you actually know what it would be in that other language.
I saw your video right now where you were playing rec room with your parents and feanor222 is your brother or something right? I saw him currently top 36 I was like I recognized his name and he's top 36 in the rro showdown, I only know this because when I was climbing back up to top 10 I saw him
I only speak two languages the second one is not really big since you can barely find it in any game expect changing subtitles on RUclips and it is Irish I mostly don't use that language but I use it in random games so people leave me alone I have a huge anxiety with alot of people I works sometimes but not as much I only know some of my language
I've never had the luxury of being bilingual, and even if I am, I'd barely understand the language. Always been english and will keep that as my main, I might learn Japanese so I can talk to Japanese people in Japan... if I win the lottery somehow!
What a coincidence you switched to the language that I'm 2nd best at speaking By the way that language was Japanese also the reason some were English is because nowadays some languages just don't have a word for something so they use the English word example in Japanese: Xbox pronounced:E~kkusubo~kkusu the (~)/tilda means to make that sound for an increased amount of time. (I study 11 laguages)
