Good idea. I have found critical things other than the governor to sometimes err a camera’s run-down, for example the non-descript spring washer between spring barrel and mounting square. With one camera that washer had burrs that had dug themselves into the soft barrel steel which in turn resulted in a slowly miaowing run. Had it only been inserted the other way round, no such harm would have occurred. The spring barrel with its gear as the slowest moving part must roll nicely, else it transmits deviations to the whole gear train. A claw tip well ground flat a little also helps keeping irritations away. Remember, Jura, we discussed once on cinematography? Cheers!

Nice to see your reply, yes there are many things that can effect the camera's performance. In the 30 years I kept our stable of 70+ cameras running I had not seen that one. Now that I'm retired I do miss nit-picking Bolexes. When I took the job I had never seen the inside of a Bolex, Having assembled some Arri 16S ,BL's and 35C's I have really developed a love affair with the spring driven Bolex.
      Appreciate your post

I enjoy all your videos. I've have worked on all of the Bolex 8mm pocket cameras but am a little weary on working on the H16's because of the special tools needed to align the registration etc.. I have the original service manual would like to give it a try. Thanks for the informative videos!!

      Thank You
I felt the most relevant tool was the one that pushed the pin out of the 1 to 1 shaft and 8 to 1 shafts.
Everything else can be worked around, except for fitting a new governor assembly. Bolex has a fixture for that which I found a work around.
      Good Luck

Is there any way to get inside a bolex without sawing the front off??

Of course, this is just a fixture I made out of an old Bolex so I could assemble a complete gear train and have access to the governor without having to take it out of the body again.

@@richjura8957 ok yeah I saw your other video
I have a older model that jammed and I took the governor screws out by mistake trying to get inside :/
I'll try to fix it this weekend
      Thanks!
