I live about 5 mins away from this park. Been going here for 30+ years and never heard the names of these cliffs and falls. Very cool to hear them. Thanx for posting this. Come back when the leaves are on and the rocks are dry. There's a great view on the top on the north side of that park road up the mountain... huge flat slab of rock and plenty of room to play around.

Thanks for watching! I will plan on exploring more of the Naugatuck Valley as cooler weather arrives. Many ledges are visible on the satellite view of that area and on the east side of the river as well. Also there are similar ledges just west of Lake Compounce I have yet to explore. Ran into a bees nest already this year so will wait till crisp fall temps arrive to explore off trail!

Thank you for watching. The fog and recent rains created a unique sensory experience that afternoon. I will plan on returning to this forest to explore the rock gardens and cliffs on a clear day!

Brings back a lot of great memories of camping there back in the 1970's.

@@letsdigalittledeeper2277 The view from the top of Toby's rock is really great in the fall. In my day there was only a simple iron pipe fence to keep people from slipping off the edge. I wouldn't go up there then the rocks are wet. It's too easy to slip and slide off the edge.

@@letsdigalittledeeper2277 People do recover very small amounts of gold from Spruce brook. It's really just an enjoyable hobby for a day by the brook.

Thank you Brother for bringing back a lot of memories for me. I use to hike that area a lot something like 20+ yrs ago.
Speaking of an off trail thing to visit there. I'll give you directions to find it.
What you do is park at the bottom of the hill. Follow the train tracks toward Naugatuck. When you get to a bridge over the gully/culvert for the stream. Go up the hill to your left. And you'll find a few boulders make up with what looks like a cave. Enter and have fun. I use to make a campfire in there and just chill out over a few hours back in the day.
Im sure you may have noticed on the way along the tracks there are patches of mica, but when you go to the tops of the hill where the overlooks are. There is basically quartz patches. And at the tops you should look for blueberries when the season is. That's where you'll find them.

I now live in Western NY area and the State Forests/Parks I have to explore are plenty. A couple of years ago I went back to Naugatuck Forest and my video is on my channel. Spruce brook falls is what your looking for. I have made a few videos from my area too.

Thank you Todd for watching and sharing information on more places to explore in the Naugatuck State Forest. I could tell from my brief visit there last year that it held many hidden treasures for those willing to venture off trail. I will try to do some more recording there in the future. I did watch several of your videos including the one of Spruce Brook. I appreciate your effort to seek out and record lesser known falls, rock cities and forests! Best Wishes

You're on Hunters Mt.; which is, I'm pretty sure, shared by Naugy & Freakin' Balls (Beacon Falls). On top of Hunters Mt, there are houses.....and a road that comes down on the Naugatuck side, in to town. We have another Mt in Naugatuck......Andrew Mt.; which is a 'stones throw' from Hunters. There's roads/houses on Andrew Mt.; couldn't tell you what else is up there. I had a few friends that lived on Andrew, back in the day, so.....never made it 'past' their houses. lol
I haven't been to Hunters Mt in a lil over 20 years. Last time there, we did a 'Family Photo' shoot; a BUNCH of friends.....we'd do a 'Family Photo' every year, in various places. As a kid, we used to be able to go along the access road/by the railroad tracks and shoot guns (target practice) into the side of the mountain; can't do THAT anymore!! As a teen/adult, that wide-open bottom area by Spruce Brooke Rd, is where we used to party (and took the 'Family Photo'). There used to be a gun range/club towards the top of Hunters......dunno if it's still there/opened or not.
Anyway......I hope that you DO get to go back there. Would be nice to see all of the stuff that I never got around to seeing (too busy partying!!). LOL
    Thanks for the video!!

Wonderful to hear your memories of this area. My time to explore was limited that day and with the fog made it made sense to explore only the falls. Many lookouts were visible on the satelite photo of that area so I will try to get back there on a clear day and check them out!
