A Jake Mulraney double and Joe Redmond goal gave the SuperSaints a great win in front of a packed out Richmond Park.

I followed it from afar. I said the other day I expected Kenny to engineer a win. But I did not expect this! Delighted for Pat's, looks like ye didn't know your own strength. Convincing scores from Pat's, theirs looked a scramble. No question you will brush them aside in the return game, and that will be three out of four Irish sides getting past the first round.

Pats have had a few good runs in Europe over the years, I'm a Bohs fan but went to see Pats play and beat Russian club Krylia Sovetov many years ago in Richmond Park, Steau Bucharest knocked them out in the next round.
Mason was my man of the match. He gave that centre half a torrid time. It is important to bear in mind that they are a second tier team and about our standard. But still!!

The Saints are my favourite Dublin club. It is them I'd be supporting if I lived in Dublin. Great win, but that goal they conceded could make life tough in Liechtenstein.
Very happy for pats and Kenny. No doubt, given time, Kenny can make pats a serious force again. All that said, it's only half-time and Pats still need to seal the deal next week in vaduz.

@@josephfinnegan151 I think that is understood. The league is a low level but it is our league and we should make the most of it. It is not much of a prediction. Most other smaller countries put substantial resources into game. Here their has been next to nothing.

The constant shipping of the best talent out of the League of Ireland to overseas clubs is killing any hope of LOI clubs making a significant impact in European Competition plus the frightened rabbit approach of the managers when they play moderate opposition.
Example Shamrock losing at home to Prague in the 2nd Round of the Euro Cup Qualifiers.
Prague are no Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona, Paris SG, Bayern Munich or anywhere near top tier European Club, However they comfortably held Shamrock scoreless while scoring twice.
Irish clubs are shambolic in European Competition including Derry City humiliated and getting dumped out of Europe by a club from Gibraltar which has a population smaller than County Leitrim !!
Time for League of Ireland clubs to take European Club Competition seriously and keep hold of their best players otherwise it is pointless entering these competitions with low level players.

The bit when you're in with the fans? That's your target. Spread the word with irish pride. My local loi club have a bunch of lads who don't care if they win or lose .
