Such a clever idea! I finally understand the reason for encouraging staccato touch. Felt like I was watching slow mo sports analysis!

Here's something I found that really helped me is a nice wrist rest often used for PC keyboards also getting comfortable with one typewriter.

I found this very helpful I like that it shows me what I need to work on. I’m going to focus on just one typewriter until I can get it right.

Great video 👍 It was great to see how each machine is different. I never thought about the speed of releasing a key. Think I will be practicing at my technic 👍

I find the almost double striking, the reluctance of the type bars to move away from the paper to be my biggest concern. Extra type bars being activated isn't actually much of a problem just as long as they don't get anywhere near the paper. It's when the type slug is right up at the paper where the most trouble cab occur. IMHO, of course.

That was an interesting experiment. I'll have to try it myself. I'm a bit curious about full-sized typewriters versus smaller ones. I'm also curious how it will work with a touch-typer like myself versus someone who uses fewer fingers. I definitely prefer certain typewriters in my collection to others. Right now I'm on my Smith-Corona Silent-Super. It takes a very different touch from my Hermes 3000 or the elderly full-sized Underwood SX across the room. Thank you for a great idea!

    Hi Joe,
I find I have to adjust how I type, slight changes between machines, The Hermes 3000 is different than to that of my Olympia SM3, and others, and although I love how the H3K types, feels and sounds, I am more comfortable on my SM3, and because of that the machine just vanishes and the pages just fly.
Sent you a picture of my morning working today at the table with my H3K.

Great! Would be nice to see also "ideal" strike - staccato in action. I observed when I don't concentrate on hitting QAZ properly (staccato) with my left little finger (the weakest) I have ghost strike - I didn't retreat it fast enough, interfering with natural momentum of the typebar and bouncing off platen as designed.
