Spitting straight facts for 16 minutes! Very excellent breakdown of this bow. I hung onto my rolls and now I know exactly what to keep for what scenarios. Great knowledge on everything that is going on with this bow. Wonderful video! Thanks for this
Whistler also gets rapid-hit archer's tempo and you can absolutely lone wolf successfully with lightweight bows. They excel from aggressive off-angling and dueling pressure with the usage of half and other not-fully drawn shots.
Heck yeah! That in-air accuracy! It feels SO good! I'm sorry about the rough weekend man. 😔 Hope things only get better dude! Great review on the bow! Nailed it.
I did not know that...going to try my whispering slab with rangefinder/opening shot with these gauntlets and see if that improves my outlook on the lightweight bows
Man, there may be other Destiny content guys that may have a better "entertainment" factor. You know funny voice a silly catch phrase, but none can come close to the full package that you are sir!! Thank you for your in depth and concise view on all things destiny!!!! You and Vanguard are my go-to guys when it's time for serious Destiny talk. Love ya brother please keep up the great work!
Completely agree. These two have been my goto since D1. No nonsense, considered and straight to the point. Not to mention great guys. Also, I'm kinda biased as I started back in the OG Halo days as well...! Seriously, though, sorry to hear you're struggling CG. Hang in there - you have a lot of loyal fans rooting for you.
The comment about the reticle/sights getting lost in the environment is exactly what drives me crazy with a lot of Bungie's lighting design and lighting fx decisions. Thank you for shouting this out, physical looks of stuff is an important factor It's precisely why I have had god rolls of the Omolon snipers but I just can't do jack with em because that feint white reticle has it get way too easily lost in the background.
Yeah, idk what they were thinking using this weapon model. Whispering Slab was quite possibly the worst bow in my opinion, simply due to the awful sight and they went and brought it back.
I got a few that I've tried. I'm a little surprised you didn't give any mention to rapid hit/successful warm-up. The firing rate is insane with this combo
such a good breakdown, i love how in-depth these are as opposed to things like "the BEST perk on whistler's whim ISN'T kill clip" with kill clip crossed out and gutshot in the thumbnail
I rarely see people talk about bows in pvp, so good on you for that. I did once see a video though (on fb) where a guy was playing warlock (back before Beyond Light iirc) on Arc, and his Arc Soul was cleaning up his kills for him
I didn't go flawless, but I did have an Engram drop a regular Polymer String, Straight Fletching, Tunnel Vision, Kill Clip roll. I'm pretty pumped!! Thank you for all your in depth videos!!!
This is a video about perks, and a great one. But the raw knowledge about bow playstyle is second to none! Well said on every point sir. Bow main here. Thank you! Subbing!
I love this bow, "Me and this bow just clicked" my best roll i have gotten so far is Polymer String, Straight Fletching, Cornered and Adrenaline Junkie with a Reload Masterwork.... For PVE this roll on this bow makes this my favourite bow in the game by far i feel like Legolas from lord of the rings when i put this bow in my hands with a solar warlock grenade build because im constantly getting a damage buff and constantly getting an increase to my Draw Time due to the perk cornered (Sunbracer's Gauntlets work great with adrenaline junkie "hint, hint, nudge, nudge")..... its the perfect bow for pve with the right roll and honestly i think cornered is the way to go for a bow being used in PVE because its not hard to have 2 enemies around you most off the time to increase your draw time almost indefinitely.
Very informative video. Just got an adept one with thresh plus kill clip and gutshot straight in the fourth column, reload masterwork... Thanks for clearing this up.
@CoolGuy Great video, but quick question. Are the Whistler's Whim and Pure Poetry Videos supposed to have Beyond Light in the Video Picture? As far as I could tell, Whistler's Whim was introduced in Season of Plunder (August 23rd), which would make them Witch Queen weapons. Am I mistaken?
I've also had a shit week, my cousin passed away unexpectedly. And this job that i was gunning for took someone else. Your videos legitimately take my mind off stuff, and keep me entertained. Thank you for that. Hope stuff gets better for you.
My first roll was a polymer string, helical fletching, rapid hit, kill clip/archer’s tempo with an accuracy masterwork. I honestly don’t use bows outside of pve content, they’re more of my friend Cole’s thing, but now he’s mad jelly that I got that role while his was not so good. Feel like I have to use it now not to let my senpai down lol. Thanks for the vid, I’m sure it’s gonna help me a lot, and hope your week gets better man. 😁👍
I got a killing wind/ gut shot but haven’t used it yet and now I wanna. Have kill clip on my first roll that’s fun to use. Hope everything get better for you bud! Keep well! ✌️
Great stuff as usual. Started getting back into the game and remembered your old sensitivty guide video. I noticed the settings have changed since that video and curious what sensitivity and ADS settings you're running right now. Thanks.
I think Rangefinder is kinda slept on here. It negates some losses from Gutshot, while also addressing one of your complaints about lightweight bows in general - the projectile speed. Combine with an icarus mod and Oathkeepers and now you're at 71+ AE (only bow that can) with faster projectiles and added zoom...
@@Eparker753 They're only hitscan up to a point. Granted you're not likely to reach the distance where they stop being hitscan in Crucible outside of the longest sight lines but it's something to keep in mind.
Hope you have a better time this week. I'm not a fan of Lightweight Bows, especially these "slab" models. I haven't gotten any of these but I'm in no hurry for it, especially given it's locked behind the Trials wall. I spent enough time to complete a card last weekend, got some engrams and a few rolls of the Fusion.
I really hope they swap out the model for this bow, it's not even a Veist... it's an Omolon. Worst decision they've ever made, besides sunsetting of course.
My moving target gutshot is a monster. I can duck in and out of cover at lightning speed and if I get in a pickle I pull out my elemental capacitor shurayas on my arc subclass. It’s such a fun way to play. Can’t say the same for my opponents.
My thing with this bow and other lightweights is you need specifics to make them passable while the combat frames are just solid out the gate. It's like 180 hand cannons vs 140s, yeah you can make 180s work but you're probably better off with a halfway decent 140
Exactly. Base accuracy is low, you can’t 2-body reliably, and the chunk damage loss on headshots is frustrating. Combat bows have always been better, even with the better minimum draw. Some of these get better with perks, but you’re looking at trade-offs and bad base stats that can’t be overcome.
@@bennygerow I tried saying precisions within my clan and then it was taken that I meant lightweights are worse than precisions in general, not just bows. So avoiding that by saying combat frames, I'm pretty sure that's what they were called at one point
@@Rob2512053 The weird thing about Precision bows is that the *frame* is Precision, but the weapon is classed as Combat on the screen. It actually has both descriptions on it, where Combat is listed below the name of the bow, but the box below the Masterwork calls them Precision.
@@incendiarypoprocks8700 You can reliably body shot at long range with this thing despite the bad accuracy IF you are actually aiming at the body, but that's the thing.. you actually have to aim this thing, the aim assist won't save your shot. you can reliably body shot with this thing at long distance while in the air as well if you build into AE (Oathkeeper's, maybe Ophidian's too?). Just don't ever try going for headshots with this thing if you have Gutshot Straight.
Great as always! Hope next week’s better. I managed to snag 10 (non-adept… I’m not that amazing) of these this weekend. Killing Wind+Kill Clip feels like a dream in both PvE and PvE. I’d put it as tied for best PvP lightweight and tied 3rd overall for legendary PvP bows with Lunaluta. It’s just hard to justify put away a Biting Winds or Wolftone for a lightweight… even after the changes. Idk, still a fun gun though.
100% hate the sights on this and whispering slab, and im glad to see im not the only person who thought there were actual ghost arrows with it my main roll is rapid hit + successful warm up because archers tempo is in the second column and fel taradiddle's sights are even worse cant wait to get a good kinetic bow added to the game... eventually...
As someone who has been maining bows since season of the lost with Wolftone, and by maining mean that they literally became my primary weapons in PvP, almost everyone is being baited by kill clip and gutshot. The reason to use lightweights is their speed and dueling capabilities. And you can definitely run solo and out duel players, especially if you learn to draw cancel (which is extremely easy to do) and have some modicum of FPS game sense. That being said this is imho the actual god roll for this bow: Polymer String / Fiberglass arrow shaft / Draw time MW / Moving target + Archer's tempo. With these you're maxing your stats (at least until adept draw time and accuracy are released), outclassing every other lightweight. With an adept targeting mod and a bow targeting helmet mod, if you have moving target you get to 100 aim assist while scoped in, which you want to do just when you're engaging. Hitting a crit prova archer's tempo, getting the draw time to around 370ms, and the crits with this setup are literally free. This is literally one of the strongest bows in the game. If you're not running it like this and prefer to body just use a precision frame with elastic string + draw time MW to bring the draw time to 576ms. Gutshot is bait. It teaches you the bad habit of going for bodies and doesn't unlock the full potential of the bow. Source: a lot of math from a group of people who main bows like me. We have a private discord with some of the best bow players in the game and we did (and are still doing) a bunch of tests on bows. Whistler's can be scary to go up against if you find someone who knows how to use it even halfway decently :)
I'd love to see you review Accrued redemption. I'm a bow main in PvP (5k on monarch alone since it got a tracker, 15k in PvE) but accrued is probably my favorite. I have a rapid hit Archers one. I usually pair it with tarrabah. I'd love to see your opinion though
With bows, unless I'm using my "bow blinting" build that's rocking two weapons with Harmony + Radiant, I prefer to bring up the floor rather than trying to raise the ceiling. Making the bow two-shot no matter where you land your hits at a rate faster than a Precision is way more important than stealing a kill from an ally so you can... still be stuck trying to two-shot someone on a short timer without an outside damage buff. Especially if you're running with allies, the higher base body damage for every shot is going to be noticed more than sometimes dropping someone to 20HP on a crit. This will also boost your damage in scenarios where you're not afforded a full draw, or can get away with a reduced draw to finish someone off as those almost never land as a crit and suffer reduced damage to boot. Gut Shot just makes the weapon perform above its class and I see Kill Clip as a novelty. Perhaps if one were to main Empowering Rift or if the bow had been Solar rather than Kinetic, I would change my tune.
Nope. Gutshot is absolutely the way to go so don't change your tune lol. Because of gutshot this is the only lightweight that can bodyshot-melee for an instant kill up close.
I got two of these, one with MT/Swash and one with Rapid Hit and Gutshot/SWU. I'm honestly a little sad that I got rapid hit with gutshot, but I'm still gonna try it out. 101 bodies on a lightweight is kinda silly. The MT/Swash one is going to be my budget Biting Winds for my Shadebinder until I can get Variks to cooperate with me.
I likewise did Freelance last weekend, and I grabbed 2 of these: one from the flawless chest, the other from turning in the passage. I kept the second one: Polymer String, Fiberglass (or Straight Fletching), Tunnel Vision, and either Opening Shot or Gutshot Straight, accuracy masterwork. And yes, I’m already having fun with it, even in PvE scenarios where I’m just messing around. On the debate between Kill Clip and Gutshot, I saw Legoleflash’s review of it, and he made the case for Gutshot over Kill Clip due to its guaranteed ease of use, AKA the 2 body kill. He simply doesn’t like the necessity of another damage source for the 1 shot. Not taking a side on this, as your argument has plenty of merit as well; I’m just pointing out someone else’s opinion. I’d still like a Kill Clip one for PvE, though. Aside from that, I’ll say this about Gutshot in PvE: it’s surprisingly good for enemies without crit spots (shanks and brigs at full health) or enemies with annoying crit spots (wyverns and Scorn lurkers) or even if you just miss the crit. It’s 20% extra damage for free at that point.
Great video cool. I wanted to love this bow. Got 5 adept rolls this weekend. 4 had Cornered.. lucky me.. i don't use bows much but gutshot felt awful for me. Maybe im lone wolfing to much.
As a bow main in pvp on console, I do not like gutshot. Even when aiming for the body I miss more than I hit, it's a fast kill but... not for me. The one I ended up keeping was rangefinder killclip in the end, but... my dream roll is rapid hit archers tempo from the old Vow bow. That was a dueling roll that back in the day I didn't need cover, I challenged people cause I could get my arrow out faster. This week I'll be focusing my engrams for that roll.
I'm a huge fan of lightweight bows, I use them for practically everything and they are just so satisfying to use. My first love was with Arsenic Bite, followed by the precision Accrued Redemption, and going back to my crafted draw time powerhouse, the Fel Taradiddle. I've dabbled with precision bow frames, but they just feel so clunky to me, and I don't enjoy them as much as my beloved lightweight archetype. So, despite not being a hard-core pvp player, I went flawless for the second time in my career and got 2 adept rolls. One in particular I LOVE despite being an extremely niche roll. I rolled one with elastic/natural string, fiberglass arrow, and rangefinder opening shot. This has practically replaced my taradiddle, sure it's slower but everything about it feels right with an extreme boost to accuracy. Maxing about 500 draw time with elastic, and about 61 accuracy with natural string, it's no joke. I can afford to sacrifice a bit of accuracy for that sweet 500 draw time since I still sit relatively pretty with 46. it also comes with adrenaline junkie, and as a void warlock with contraverse, this makes me VERY happy. It may not be the god roll of kill clip or gutshot, but honestly I wouldn't prefer any other roll, from my background of using bows in just about everything, this one feels like a big culmination of my history with bows. (P.S, this bow looks amazing with Butterbark shader.)
Here after the announcement of gutshot buff and lightweight bow buff. I got an adept moving target gutshot/kill clip that I'll be trying out once these changes go live
Aaannnnd subbed. Great video! Been waiting for a good “Whistler’s” review. Best I’ve seen. I’m rocking tunnel vision, kill clip, and elastic and absolutely love it. Totally winning fight head to head and going off. 😂 Been a long time since a bow was any good other than that void exotic pos. 🤔 le… something. 🤷🏻♂️
Sorry to hear you had a bad week. Hope it improves. I was really hoping you’d say opening shot, adrenaline junky, archers tempo or steady hand was the best on it because that’s all I got, you don’t seem to be a fan of any haha
I know things have been rough for you but I do want to make a slight correction in your video since I don’t think you mentioned it. You said this Bow performs great in the air. It looks like you are using Oath Keepers in all of your gameplay which is a +40 Airborne Effectiveness. I just don’t want people to have the wrong idea. Keep up the great work Coolguy
The video about flinch resistance you showed a spreadsheet of the weapons stability to flinch resistance. EX 100 stability on a pulse rifle would grant 20% extra flinch resistance. What would the range comparison be?
This video is the first I've heard of Killing Wind giving a strafe scalar. I always refer to Pip1n's compendium spreadsheet, and it isn't listed as a benefit. Do you have a source for it?
I dont agree with needing accuracy.. forgive me if im wrong but from what I can tell the only thing actually does is keep the bow accurate for longer after the draw.. the higher the stat the slower the accuracy cone grows.. but from what I can tell bows seem to have a base accuracy on the perfect draw that is even across the board.. since perfect draws are kinda what a bow user should be going for then I don't think the accuracy stat is necessary..
Mine dropped with KW and KC. Sitting at 500 draw speed, just wish the arrow was a little better. Looking forward to using it now that I've seen this vid.
I got polymer string, straight fletching, moving target, gutshot, accuracy MW with adept targeting Haven’t tried it yet, reckon it’s good? Gunna use it with shayuras on dawnblade. M+kb

Keep up the great content man, hope your week gets better.
I think wishender mighta got mixed up with monarch toward the end. Awesome work as always.
Sorry to hear about how poorly the week has gone. Best wishes on that either turning around or at least getting some closure.
I agree with lego. I've made a couple videos about gutshot on this so I'm probably also biased....but it's a really fun perk
Hope you’re doing well. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself first. Great video, BTW!
Great video cool. I wanted to love this bow. Got 5 adept rolls this weekend. 4 had Cornered.. lucky me.. i don't use bows much but gutshot felt awful for me. Maybe im lone wolfing to much.
Sorry to hear you're struggling, mate. Hang in there. Been a huge fan of your content since D1 and this is yet another great vid. Keep it up!
Sorry to hear about your week :(
Loved the review as always
Glad to hear you’re ok :)
Just a heads up, thumbnail still says Beyond Light in the bottom right 👍 just incase you weren't aware
Glad you're doing ok. Great vid as usual.
Hope you're doing alright bro. Great review as always!
Sorry to hear you had a bad week. Hope it improves. I was really hoping you’d say opening shot, adrenaline junky, archers tempo or steady hand was the best on it because that’s all I got, you don’t seem to be a fan of any haha
Been waiting for my bro to post!
With Gutshot - you have to hold your ads until the arrow hits. If you let off the ads too soon the damage won't go up.
The video about flinch resistance you showed a spreadsheet of the weapons stability to flinch resistance. EX 100 stability on a pulse rifle would grant 20% extra flinch resistance. What would the range comparison be?
always great content man!keep goin
Now I couldn’t be any sadder that I fell at the gates of the lighthouse last weekend :(
Thank you once again Bodyshot Bandit, very cool!
So... Our little cryo friend is enough? Do we need the chonky cryo friend ?
Excellent video dude
If you’re going to use a lightweight bow in pve just use fel tarrididdle, it feels super good
This video is the first I've heard of Killing Wind giving a strafe scalar. I always refer to Pip1n's compendium spreadsheet, and it isn't listed as a benefit. Do you have a source for it?
Great vid as always. Had to click right away as a bow main. Just a small correction LeMonarque has intrinsic Overload stun built in and not barrier.
Yup
I dont agree with needing accuracy.. forgive me if im wrong but from what I can tell the only thing actually does is keep the bow accurate for longer after the draw.. the higher the stat the slower the accuracy cone grows.. but from what I can tell bows seem to have a base accuracy on the perfect draw that is even across the board.. since perfect draws are kinda what a bow user should be going for then I don't think the accuracy stat is necessary..
As an mnk player having good hipfire is personally a must have for every bow I use. It just feels so good, even when you're not using hush.
Congrats on 200k, hope everything is okay 💚
FINALLY, SOMEONE THAT LOOKS AT EVERYTHING GOD!.
My Guy, Our Guy. hope everything is good. and always look ahead 🤙🏽
Mine dropped with KW and KC. Sitting at 500 draw speed, just wish the arrow was a little better. Looking forward to using it now that I've seen this vid.
I got polymer string, straight fletching, moving target, gutshot, accuracy MW with adept targeting
Haven’t tried it yet, reckon it’s good?
Gunna use it with shayuras on dawnblade. M+kb
Swash is interesting on a throwing knife hunter. Pair with Chrio to freeze or just a heavy knife kill and you can go to town with radiant hunter.
Hope things get better man.
I run max stability basically on all bows because the anti-flinch comes so handy
Cool to play against you even though you slapped me with that nade👍🏻
shorter coolguy: speed's what we NEED, we need GREASY, FAST SPEED
Taxis, Kell of the IRS is such a funny name 🤣 saw it in one of the killfeeds
Since Bows don't have a Range stat, what does the bonus Range from KW / Opening Shot actually even do???
