Your assistant's whistling is becoming an identifying staple of your videos Joaquim! The guy is always in great spirits, bless his ❤️! Kudos to great progress!
@@mannyPereira29 They are not off grid...they were maybe 60 years ago, but Minho nowadays is a modern place, except for the culture and customs which are ancient...like whistling is... I am sure😃
We take a lot for granted. Our family house was built in 1945. We had town water and two electric plugs. My mum cooked on a coal range which also heated our house and our water. She laundered our clothes in a fire heated copper tub and wrung the clothes with a manual mangle. I was 7 when she progressed to an electric stove and washer. Thanks for the memories.
I love what you are doing with the property. Its great that you can cook fabulous meals for yourself with the fruits of your labour, and the stories of your childhood memories are very entertaining. It puts into perspective the house and the land and the effort it took for your grand-parents to live their life in this place that you obviously love so much. Such great progress in seemingly so short a time.
Joachim I don't know what's more interesting watching the build progress or listening to your wonderful memories. I was watching you all dig the foundation for the connecting wall and I saw 3 men who took pride in their hard work all their life and compared that to young people of today and I had fear for all our heritages being lost through neglect and inability
I so look forward to seeing all the progress and learning of the past. It was wonderful to save the cactus! Food looks awesome too. Have a wonderful week!
How wonderful to be able to shop for dinner in your own backyard. I love Garlic buds with zucchini, tomato and onion on pasta. Have a good week with your tour. The Lean-to is coming along nicely, It looks a good size too.
That lean-to structure looks beautiful, and the meal looks delicious! Its very nice watching someone taking the time and care to enjoy cooking and building.
Wow, Joachim, so exciting to be this far along with the house rebuild. I've been trying imagine its outline but couldn't cipher how what space relates to another, aside from your really solid lean-to structure. Amazing how your plantings are developing and yielding in time to begin feeding you. It's so cool as a city gal to learn how to do what during which season as you are doing. Wow, you're using brass fittings instead of plastic. Makes sense... the plumbing should last a long while with your stone buildings. Did you learn your building skills from your granpa? I also appreciated how lovingly you rehomed the cactus. It looks even more striking where you positioned it. We'll know it's happy when it bears plenty fruit. Also a fan of how your childhood experiences and dear memories guide your work.
Good evening Joaquim. You've mentioned that you want to put cobblestone on the ground. The YT channel TheNewbys is also in Northern Portugal and they bought thousands of granite cobblestone and Mario delivers it on their farm. Maybe it is near you. John and Tara Newbys is beautiful people as wel as Mario . Enjoy your evening . Granny South Africa❤
Good morning Joaquim. I've spoke to John and Tara (TheNewbys) about the cobblestone. They said you are most welcome to contact them and they will definitely put you in contact with Mario. Enjoy your day. Granny South Africa❤
It is so sweet the way you talk about your Grandfather. It is very obvious your Grandparents had a large important impact on you and the nice man you turned into. When did your Grandparents pass away ?
I was pretty fortunate. I lost my grandpa a long time ago, he was 75 and was in my 20s. I had been in Canada for a while and far from him. I was much luckier with my grandma as she moved to Canada to live with us, she help me to raise my daughter, she passed at 98.
The fado in the background was a great touch. 😅

They are used to doing that since they are off grid and radios need electricity they do the off grid thing of whistling 😚 🎶🎶😂

I love hearing you describe your grandparents home with such loving descriptions. I can see it in my mind’s eye the way you describe it.
It can get pretty overwhelming for me, I have to pinch myself on occasion.
Perhaps that’s why I rambled so much on this one.
Thank you

Beautiful Sunday for you and your wife. Granny South Africa❤

Obrigado
Man, the fish, salad, and zucchini looked good! My mouth was watering as I watched that!

Obrigado
Are you a chef by profession
It’s one of my hats
I could tell by your knife skills and the way you cook that you had talent
Just wondering what kind of fish it was ?? otherwise keep up the good work
It’s a Twait shad.
Challenging but delicious

Do you still have relatives living in Portugal or close by?
Is the dark-haired man driving the New Holland tractor, Your brother. You guys have to be related.
No, just from the same village, which could easily mean some relationship generations back
Nice reducer..❤
