    Absolutely the best video of all videos. Beautiful diagnostics and finally a lot of humor.

    10:59 Here you was very close to kill the chip (by making internal short). Look at this "popcorn" effect on the surface. Usually it means dead-short, but here you are lucky.
    ...
    Popcorn bubbles/effect shows-up often when the temperature is too high and it increases too quickly. Consider changing your method. Take down the temperature by half or 1/3, and heat whole chip, everything with the silver die in the middle as well and do it by making circles around everything. Keep doing that until all solderballs will melt down. Then you can push one side/corner of the chip, very very gently to see a small movement. it will be a proof that all balls are melted. but your method (with 500degrees) is very risky and it will not gives you a long-repair result.

    Different laptops from the same manufacturer with the same type charging port can have much different power needs. I have 2 Acers, one needs a 65W charger and the other needs a 90W but the ports are identical. The 90W one will still run off of the 65W charger but the charger runs hotter trying to keep up. Not so with my Toshiba. It won't start unless the charger provides the right current. The problem with Toshiba is they won't provide any decent info on the net for free.

    That's why you should use the power supply with laprtop specific connector instead of his own charger. In this case you can easily see what is going on from the power consumtion.
    Plus you could test the charger with an electronic load to see if it is good or not.
    Brilliant video, I like the master to admit if he makes a mistake.

Something like the top dog T9900 inside my Dell Latitude E6400 also from this era smokes the hell out of this P8800, and that thing is still very well alive today.

    • @kztech1319
      @kztech1319 3 года назад +1

      @@Infiniti25 Well I guess I took the business class laptops for granted. The average of what I find in the likes of ThinkPads and Latitudes of this Penryn 2 1066Mhz platform is like a T9600, which is rather common place these days and is a world faster than that T4400 that you've mentioned.
      Also, I believe all 1066Mhz Penryn 2 platforms should support T9900 (If it has a Socket P, not a BGA). It is essentially a better binned T9600 with a higher multiplier, and no extra official TDP rating (though the T9900 will run a little hotter just because Intel overestimates the TDP for their lower end chips)

    The silver and the cream white were £500. extending their life with a SSD, these particular Sony's were fashionable. They had a trading policy so you now see lots of these second-hand Sony's in Vietnam. I tend to take objects from my past as living objects even though they are just circuitry so it is nice to bring them back to life. Likewise with the Samsung Techwin SRD-480D HD-SDI DVR CCTV system they have such high quality imagery much much better than the little tiny tin DVR boxes, which they now sell for shops and home use. It is equivalent to the Betamax and VHS. The little tin boxes usually only have a year lifespan. The SRD-480D HD-SDI last forever. New technology is not always the best technology. the Betamax comparison will probably not be understood by a lot of people.

    why do you put those resistors on? And where do you put them? Are you putting a load on the power to see if it holds up? Thank you
