Absolutely the best video of all videos. Beautiful diagnostics and finally a lot of humor. What I like most is that you admit mistakes and the end of the video is probably the best. Such a Human.
Hello from Bulgaria. Another good lessons. First: check and use original tools and equipment, Second: have to know what is the task. Thank you. Have a nice weekend.
Make me laugh few times 🙂 not because of what are you doing but because of your reactions on that 🙂 you are a king, and a king can do anything 😉 wish you best weekend! Waiting a new video...
SO you have had one of those week's,and Friday has been a bit of a bummer .So I hope you get home and relax, and enjoy your Holiday, you deserve it, thanks again for the lesson.
10:59 Here you was very close to kill the chip (by making internal short). Look at this "popcorn" effect on the surface. Usually it means dead-short, but here you are lucky. ... Popcorn bubbles/effect shows-up often when the temperature is too high and it increases too quickly. Consider changing your method. Take down the temperature by half or 1/3, and heat whole chip, everything with the silver die in the middle as well and do it by making circles around everything. Keep doing that until all solderballs will melt down. Then you can push one side/corner of the chip, very very gently to see a small movement. it will be a proof that all balls are melted. but your method (with 500degrees) is very risky and it will not gives you a long-repair result.
This video is probably your best one yet. You are human and we all have those days. But you still worked it out and didnt try hide anything. This type of honesty is why people watch your channel and why your customers return to you.
I am not an electronician, not a mobo repairer and I don't even think I can be because I have no basic information about electronics. I can only repair small things like changing usb ports, audio ports, power ports etc. But I am a fan of you, your troubleshooting style, your skills. I love watching the whole repair process whether you succeeded or not. I enjoy it a lot. I wish I could do this kind of repairing as well. It is a fantastic job! Thanks.
They should have given a clear instruction about the fault and why the second laptop was given,That would have made your work simple, But any why we had a great learning .Thanks Sorin, As always -happy week end.
That's why you should use the power supply with laprtop specific connector instead of his own charger. In this case you can easily see what is going on from the power consumtion. Plus you could test the charger with an electronic load to see if it is good or not. Brilliant video, I like the master to admit if he makes a mistake.
You are a true legend man...the inspiration behind my regained passion for electronics...what a sense of humor and I must say a honest hard working professional. You deserve a 21gun salute SIR...#hats off👍#"lots of love from INDIA"
Yes you are right some times some of the days are seems are not ours and I also feel like that. Thanks for your effort because we are always learning on what you show us.
Different laptops from the same manufacturer with the same type charging port can have much different power needs. I have 2 Acers, one needs a 65W charger and the other needs a 90W but the ports are identical. The 90W one will still run off of the 65W charger but the charger runs hotter trying to keep up. Not so with my Toshiba. It won't start unless the charger provides the right current. The problem with Toshiba is they won't provide any decent info on the net for free.
We're only human and everyone has a weaker day sometimes. 👍👍👍You are the best teacher on yu tube I watch, I have learned a lot and are still waiting for new episodes, thank you for your time and dedication to share your knowledge with everyone watching this channel, I wish you good health.🙏🙏🙏Sorry for my bad English👋👋👋
Ha ha ha ha. Sorin you make me laugh. I feel like I know you for a long time. Anyway thank you for teaching me and us. I am 52 years old fart that rediscovered micro soldering. Mistakes like this are part of the game. I just watch your video about MacBook and you ware talking about to moving to Kanada and about the snow. Just want to say that i know what you talking about and I feel for you. I am from Czechslovakia living in USA Florida for 23 years and just like you i miss the snow dearly. Older i get more the Florida weather hurts me !! Hopefully some day i will move out of these hell :). I used to go to Englant a lot. I like it there. Thank you for your videos. Enjoy your weekend.
It just so happens that I do like that old dodgy man.. you fixed a board that couldn't be fix by any one else.. sheesh.. that sounds good to me.. and we out here learned something about the old sony's.. So don't feel bad it was a good video.. you old dodgy fellow.. Carry on!
@Arvid Kracht I still do not know what your on about?... Sorin is an excellent repair man.. are you trying to say he is a slouch? a cheat? he is no good at what he does? If that is the case.. don't pedal your goods here my friend you have no one that will listen.
first of all, thank you this is a proper good lesson on how to diagnose a motherboard issue. I didn't saw how you make an elementary mistake. The important was good reverse engineering. Admiration.
I think you've said this before on another video. I have applied your technic on hp aio with same power on and power of issues. I hopefully am gonna test it tonight.
As a sanity check, it is usually important to have two of the most used tool, in this case a multi-meter and a power supply, because them being faulty can ruin the diagnosis. Similarly, a Caliper for you machinists, compression gauge for an engine, etc, all traps I've fell into
At 42:55 - you are most definitely not stupid. You diagnosed and fixed a board another shop could not. The fact there was another board to swap with it was hidden by the dodgy charger. We only learn by making mistakes. Whoever makes no mistakes in life is doing nothing. Love your videos, thanks for uploading.
Va urmaresc din Romania si desi sunt doar un designer (artist), am reusit sa repar doua iPhone 6 urmarind episoadele dumneavoastra. Ma bucur ca v-am gasit canalul si sper sa explodeze in subscriberi si like-uri!
43:48 "Like and subscribe if you like this old dodgy man". Like given, my only regret is that I can't subscribe more then once 😂. Thanks for another awesome video. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Sorin I had a mechanic shop and two identical cars for repair. One needed an engine and the other one was just maintenance. My worker accidentally took the engine out of the wrong car lmfao. Now that’s a real bad day lol.
I have that Sony laptop and it still working as when it was new, bought in 2005 used every day and I never had to repair. Last week my Dell XPS 9550 bought in December 2015 for 2199 euro died, no post, most likely the GPU. It's a real pity that Sony doesn't produce laptops anymore.
You are the best...i watch your stuff now and then, I do repairs for living because of you boss , I salute from South Africa, I need chips, maybe someone can me cause aliExpress took forever because of my country
Hi, from the the start I saw your video here I got of interest on repairing electronics, specially laptops. giving me an idea how to diagnose dead laptop.
May friend you can disable gpu changing few resistors and disabling VIN on ic’s or removing coils on gpus feed voltage, so you can override burnt gpus and use integrated CPU’s graphics or umas..
Hi Sorin I was expected that the second fault is from the charger because the laptop was running when you supply the power from your power supply station. Good job.
@@seanlewisakashaaamus2647 Sorin is a master and I learned a lot from his professional vedios. I am not a technician and my field is far from this one. But as I learned from Mr. Sorin I shared my thought.
If there were a note that says what should be done, would make it easier for you but either way I learned something regardless. These stuff happens to me a lot as well, I typically have to open up laptops more than once, because of miscommunications.
Sorin, don't feel bad, was a very instructional video as usual. Have a good weekend BOSS. 🎉🎉🎉 Also don't feel bad about who's dislikes the video (they probably works for SONY) 🤣🤣🤣
Hi, love your helpful vids. Dont know if you repair monitors? i have the small model Acer 1715 and it wont turn OFF by the button, just stays in standby (orange) . Runs great and with signal , you get perfect picture and green light but whether signal or not, i cant turn it off?? tried the power button for 1 second ,3,10 and nothing. i pulled it apart and checked continuity from buttons to the cable at the logic board, so it must be fault there. Is the start circuit permanently "on" or something screwed up? No bulging caps ect and nothing obvious. Thanks
I bought two high power ( a 95w and 135w if I remember correctly) Sony chargers from the flea market for a project thinking they would be very good quality and both turned out to be faulty, the high voltage electrolytic caps on the input were dead and very difficult to replace ( 120uF/570volts ), so maybe Sony charges are not very reliable , especially older ones.
Good Day sir Zorin. i have a wowstick like yours the problem is it is not working anymore . its not revolving anymore when i press the buttons only the lights is working.
It was a bad charger that was the problem, not the graphics card, IMO. The charger you used at first was not providing enough amps to run the laptop. Once you grabbed the new power adapter aka charger, the laptop worked. Anyone else agree with me?
Absolutely the best video of all videos. Beautiful diagnostics and finally a lot of humor.
What I like most is that you admit mistakes and the end of the video is probably the best.

I agree, this is exactly what i was going to say. We learn a lot from our mistakes or his. He is awesome for sharing this!
Thank you for showing this! I appreciate your honesty, providing us with a true understanding of the life of a repairman.
Not just a genius with electronics but also very entertaining. This is a unique combination, thanks Sorin, I laugh while i learn.

Very nice Sorin, I will forever support this channel as a technician.
i have a repair business bucause of this channel
@sibonelelohlatshwayo7753 are you still in the business, I'm also planning on opning my own shop, I was learning for the past 2 years

I had one of these Sony laptops with the 18.4 inch screen, it was an absolute beast and never had an issue with it, I miss it.
Thank you for your time and the video class, teacher, we all have days of exhaustion; greetings from South America
Very nice video!
So you can see here the importance of giving the right power source to the laptop in order to start appropiately.
Greetings!

Thank you man that was the fault in my Laptop is spent 2 Years to figure it out an dniw finally its working Thank you so much!!!
You are creative ... no problem when going through some problems
I feel you bro, worked on industrial failures, can be a pain in the ass sometimes.
my main problem with most of my laptops has been the LCD screen inverter converter board - and often the screen backlight.
i always like the old man. thank you sorin. i learn so much from your videos thank a lot 🙂
I can't believe 😂 it remember me how I forgot to take out the Sim Card holder and I broke 2 pins of the Sim tray for 2 times. I fix it with glue 😂

Just been Binge watching Sorin..more the Better...

why do you put those resistors on? And where do you put them? Are you putting a load on the power to see if it holds up? Thank you

Thank you . you are good teacher .

Many thanks for your videos I'm super exciting about learning how to fix electronics!
Ive fixed a few of those in my time great but always charger port with sony vios
33:37. Are you using your flux under the chip? Your homemade flux I meant?
That moment when he says " I don't wanna be stupid"

thanks for always being honest. like i said before i learn alot from you and im very greatful.
Thanks for the new video, Master!!!
Mr Sorin, what about a repairing for PCB for a mechanical keyboard? Best wishes from Romania.
Hi Sorin

Both laptops showing same 'fault' at beginning - power light flash on>off - is the clue. Common part is power adapter (faulty) !
Good job Sorin.you are the best.
