I had literally no recollection of this game's existence for most of my life until today i was reading The Isle's dev blog and they said "sparring mechanic" which brought the faintest memory. Wasnt even sure if it was a real memory, but this is it!
This fits with the main canon quite a bit. Not only does it give us some info on what’s going on in site B post JP3 but it also lines up with Dominions whole brain command thing. I didn’t include those last 2 CC seasons because they turned it from some commands to being fully controlled by a PlayStation remote.
I used to go to the library and play this in the kids section for hours, it was so much fun for me just playing with the DNA pieces like Tetris and watching the dinosaur animations when I did something good. So many good memories!!

Yeah, Scan command has two versions under different names. Dinosaur Battles removes the need for the Scanner and has all the DNA you could possibly ever need given to you at the start of the game. Interestingly, Dinosaur Battles seems to be easier to find than Scan Command possibly making Scan Command worth more. I own both versions btw.

I have a crazy story about this game. I was expecting this game to be a typical one-on-one fighting game featuring dinosaurs and I was so confused by its gameplay which was so cryptic to me. I managed to figure it out somehow and beat it. Several years later I discovered a PS1 game called Warpath: Jurassic Park which was way more in line with what I thought THIS game would be and what I wanted lol 🤣it kind of pissed me off
I remember beating the Anklyosaurus with the Triceratops. It wasn't as fun to use, but it could attack under the belly with its horns, so that was great.

There is a catch to them though: They have to have a damage value stronger than the ankylosaurus' you'll also take some damage from the armor still even when you cut through it.
this game was a pretty awsome game for it's time. At times it was difficult. I think the hardest part was beating spino. I always just used the really powerful bite for the t-rex. You had to use a fast attack because the spino was stinking stun you over and over, so you had to get him first. Whoever got the first hit in won. like in 5 seconds. Loved the graphics, and the replayabilty was ok.
I got it for cristmas several years ago. I also have Scan Command which is basically the same game just you need to use a barcode scanner to customize your dinosaur's skills. This version has everything you need to start playing. The story is the same in both games.

As a kid i figured out you can just grab any random book with alot of words. Scan across the pages real fast and it would give you more dna. U didnt even need bar codes. If anyone still has the scanner and game try it. Itll work.

@mslewp I think it's leftover from the Scan Command version of Dinosaur Battles. You see, Dinosaur Battles is kind of a version of the Jurassic Park Scan Command that uses the barcode scanner.When you uploaded DNA from the scanner onto the game, it would appear in the New DNA section.

Ah that is exactly how I solved it. I made the conclusion that piercing was the keyword I was looking for. Something that I would like to note is there are a few Piercing attacks that don't pierce at all. (ie Piercing toss is one.) Also how to defeat spiked armor is mentioned in the help file opened by pressing F1 or the resume game screen..
@drybowserman9091 Yes they are.try fighting the Spinosaurus that appear in the Steel Maze. There are two types: Leaper and Rampager. They should give you the skills you seek and more. Gallimimus and Dilophosaurus were planned. There are textures for playable versions within the game's files that went unused.
@LolZakJoost11 You start out with a large amount of it at the beginning of the game. You even start out with two pieces of special DNA which can vary between doubling, tripling or adding extra strength to certain types of DNA.
*sights* I loved this game so much...I think I was 5 year old when I started to play this and after 9 years... The graphics are so bad I didn't know how badly was that back in the time I didn't know english lul I just played it and I remember playing it 82647125461 times and always gets to the spino :D

@bluehorse1214 There's a way to fix that. Simply go and edit the body skill in the Skills edit screen. You can't miss the option because it looks like an attack command but isn't on the attack commands menu during a fight. Also, the body skill is already activated. All you need to do is add DNA to it. Depending upon the DNA, your Armor, Health, and/or stamina will increase.
This game is a lot of fun. Too, bad you can't use Dilophosaurus or Gallimimus. P.S Is it possible to get the Stun headbutt for Spinosaurus, like the final boss can?(no spoilers!) Or the biting move where It bite's forward instead of downward.
