Blinding mix on vinyl. The true and only way to do it...From a man who grew up in the 70s, born and raised in Jamaican vinyl culture. Sound system was one wooden belt driven turntable, preamps for wall robe sized boxes containing 12” speaker bins and horn tweeters that would shatter a glass back in the 70s. Dub plates and versions like what you played was the order of the day. Toasting and deejaying came from that time. Today’s copycat style can’t pop no style on I as Hugh Mundell said. You brought some memories back for me here. 🎼🇯🇲👏🏽🎼👏🏼🎼🇯🇲

"A serious thing about dis ya one." - Sylford Walker Paying tribute to DJ Algoriddim. This right here, is one of the tuffest rootical selections ever. It is jam-packed with heavyweight roots music dished out by powerhouse rootsmen and rootswomen. It starts with the ultra mean Dirty Harry riddim where DJ Algo lined up Tommy McCook (horns) / Sly Dunbar (drums), instrumental intro, Sylford Walker, I-Roy, and Prince Jazzbo (all vocals), in that order. Much later we jam the Slaving riddim where Algo lined up Lloyd Parks, Sylford Walker, and I-Roy in that order.. Further down, there is Linval Thompson on his big, Big Girl riddim followed by I-Roy's super tuff 'War and Friction' missile riding on the same riddim. Then there are several other tuff riddims, each one with an I-Roy contribution present in the compilation. Check out I-Roy's 'Look a Boom,' Errol Dunkley's 'Black Cinderella' riddim, I-Roy's response on the same riddim. Augustus Pablo's melodica flourish on the very same Cinderella riddim. Also featured is Augustus Pablo's Java's riddim and I-Roy's response: "Down in the valley with a caucus bag of collie, and there will be no folly". There is even a whiff of a Burning Spear riddim. There is Cornel Campbell's Stars riddim upon which I-Roy and Prince Jazzbo once fought-out a "bitter", stage-managed feud. There is an innocuous I-Roy contribution on the riddim and King Tubby's dub of the Stars riddim followed by Prince Jazzbo's heat-seeking missile to I-Roy's head on the very same riddim. This incredible selection comes to a fitting climsctic end with the Mighty Diamonds' Right Time riddim and I-Roy's response on the same riddim. This is one helluva of a selection. One for posterity, not only for its tuffness but also for the impeccable sequencing. Thank you DJ Algoriddim for your phenomenal selection. Just like the great Sylford Walker said, "a serious thing about dis ya one." This is a super tuff compilation, never one for the faint-hearted. Jah Live!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I hear the Cinderella tune but 58:31 I think you cut to a different base line? Is that on the 12" version? It's only a short time you hear that
@@StricklyRockas hmm, I think you're referring to the version from the Dub I LP that I played. I thought they were alternative takes/mixes of the same recording
Inna these times we have up's and downs, still the DJ and Riddims calms the pain, makes the sun shine a little brighter. JAH!!!!!!!
