This country! 35 years with no compensation! "How you going to pull yourself up by the bootstraps when you are denied boots?"

Love this story. So thankful for their sacrifice which in part enabled my family of AA servicemen and women to advance in the military.

The family deserves all the recognition and monetary value for their commitment to our country. Shame on us.

Compensation denied to General Benjamin O'Davis, Jr. should be rightfully extended to his family. Moreover, reparations, inspired by the numerous indignities he endured, should also be extended. General Davis, who graduated in June 1936, stood as the 35th ranking cadet in a class of 276. He made history as the fourth black graduate of the academy, following in the footsteps of pioneers like Henry Ossian Flipper (1877), John Hanks Alexander (1887), and Charles Young (1889).

Disappointing to hear about such disrespect and cruelty. Those serving today should recognize their sacrifice with gratitude and respect. The country hasn't exactly loved them back. There is much work to be done.

It's also pretty incredible how patriotic black Americans are. Especially years ago.

I am an African American and I have to confess, I always tear up whenever I see or hear these stories and ask myself, how did we survive because there are many stories such as these. Then I reflect and tell myself that we are a very special people and because of it, I feel extremely proud and know that our day will come. Thank God for the internet because without it these stories would not be so readily available. I urge Patience....Patience....Patience...Nothing before it's time!!!

I will not forget your name and will read the book. Say his name: "Benjamin O. Davis." They should have paid you because it could "NEVER" measure your worth! ❤

No matter how far you come, they will still find a way to keep you down. I'm going to make a George Washington movie and name him Jorge Jefferson

That is why Black Americans need reparation because of this kind of treatment of denying what we are entitled to. And just think America is still behaving the same way today. Haven't comprehended anything from the chronology! 😔🫣☹️
