Even though it's Japanese, this has quickly become one of my favourite Twice songs. I really hope they release more with this kind of style for their next Korean comeback.
Honestly all their their Japanese comebacks are fantastic, high quality songs. Great choreo, fun music videos, just great in general. Topping the charts like NBD
@@AlCool209 Generally speaking I don't enjoy Japanese comebacks as much for most groups, I think it's more just the way the language's cadence sounds to me, and stylistically they tend to be less interesting (there are exceptions, of course, like Red Velvet's Sappy and Cookie Jar, and some of SNSD's Japanese releases). But I loved Breakthrough a lot and it's fast become one of my favourites. I was totally ambivalent towards Happy Happy, by comparison.
I have to agree, this is one of my favorites of their songs. I like most of them in their own sort of way, but this is the one I replay.
Their korean comeback will be on October maybe

I just want to say kpop idol groups have some of the best & creative wardrobes for their mv videos. I as a fellow aspiring fashion designer gets so much inspiration from their videos & clothing whenever I sketch out my collections.

Yes yes. I love this J-pop song of theirs. Its so 2nd gen kpop/jpop. I was wondering why I liked it so much but it kept giving me Girls Generations vibes and early 2008. T.T

@@oliverhughes610 Years slightly diff but from the get go I got Run Devil Run + Mr. Taxi vibes. The tone and the style just kept feeling so familiar to me as someone who has listened to kpop since 2007!
@@Just_JennyH Run Devil Run is one of my favourite SNSD songs and I can't really see the comparison outside of the patch used for the percussion (in other words, the way the drums sound). I've been listening to Kpop since 2011 and to me the production quality of Breakthrough is so crisp and contemporary that I can't really see such a strong 2nd gen link in the way you seem to... I suppose our ears are just attuned differently.
This sounds more like KARA’s Japanese releases, “Speed Up” and “Electric Boy”

This was a 2 song/MV Japanese comeback for Twice! "Breakthrough" was night, and "Happy Happy" was day (And obviously a much cuter happier song). Both M/V's use the same sets with a different aesthetics/vibe. This was probably filmed around the same time as Fancy too, so Twice is working hard to top both Korean and Japanese charts so consistantly!

I consider this the greatest Twice song, and I am not a fan of japanese singles for the most part. Further proof that I'd be more of a Twice fan if they "broke through" that cutesy bubblegum pop image and sound. Not to say there's anything wrong with that, they're killing it, but this is my Twice jam.

My sister and I fought with this song in the background (I had an alarm and I didn't wake up) 😂
They released another song too alongside 'breakthrough' called 'happy happy', and video had the same concept mainly centering around two contrasting colors, the two music videos look like each other's parallel almost. But I definitely preferred this one overall. Also if you guys have the time, check out Taemin's 'want' music video.
