Hi Shalini , steaming the kolukattai for a long time will make the kolukattai soft and not hard . I think the rice flour you have used is not roasted one , it may be the reason for the kolukattai to become hard . hi I did this today.. the consistency came out very well... But the sweetness in the milk did not get soaked in the modak's.... The modak's taste is separate and the milk taste is separate... can we include sautéed cashew and kismis in this....
It us just a suggestion :when the modak is half cooked u can add it in the milk but do not stir. Let it cook. Because the modak is already cooked fully it us not absorbing the milk.
After adding jaggery donot boil the milk. The jaggery I have used is Organic one. If you boil the milk , after adding jaggery the milk will curdle..... Thank you.
