What is the difference between "Stock BUYING Power" and "Available Funds for TRADING"?
For example, let's say that a person has $20,000 in "Stock Buying Power" and $10,000 "Available Funds For Trading". Could they buy, say, $20,000 of a stock or only &10,000 of that stock? (And, yes, I understand that one would involve margin.)
It's the "buying" vs "trading" language being used there that seems puzzling.
Aren't buying and trading the same thing in actual use?
Why the difference in the language? What exactly is the distinction?
