They have all sorts of IGD and need a mono cart to play em to sound good. Need the damn Y cable to sum the channels to clean up the IGD. I have many mono disks that play great with a stereo cart. These cuts sound terrible. This was kinda a joke if you ask me. The FOMO was manufactured by Mike himself. My orders were “heavily allocated”. (Said weeks ago). Well, This was all predicted. They should just do an all analog stereo box. That would really do fomo.

Not as good as the UK's obviously, but probably still worth picking up if you're a hardcore Beatles fan/collector. No mono cart needed either. I tried one, but actually prefer my stereo micro line cart, with mono button pushed in on my amp, so I switched back over to my usual setup, as there's not much difference. What universal did to Mike is fucked though and I hope everyone that wants the boxset get one at steep discount.. Nice as it is, it's still not worth $300. 🤷

Sure they sound ok but they are at best AM radio recordings. I have the CDs from a few years ago and much prefer those (with these same mono mixes). The Inner groove distortion is terrible on these. I have heard many people complain and I have the same issue. The only way to avoid that is with a mono cart or Y cable (or switch in your case). I use a Hana ML on Rega P6. I think they were cut too hot. Not a good set. Waste of money. I can think of $300 to spend elsewhere. Go get a BC13 boxset and you are set basically forever with the Beatles. They should have done a stereo box all analog. This was absolute silliness to do these crapola mono cuts. I have the OG US capitol stereo cuts and they are much more interesting to me

In the 80's when I worked in record stores (The Record Factory and Spirit Records & Video) when a "snafu" such as the Beatles mono box set occurred, you could call the area label representative or the record distributor but those days of customer service/accountability are long, LONG gone. I personally would ship ALL of those boxes back to Capitol and tell them to kiss my patootie! I can only imagine the headache and financial bite that this has taken out of your hide.
Yet another way Amazon screws small businesses (I realize the distributor is more directly responsible, but Amazon absorbing so much inventory is what leads to indie stores getting treated so badly)
The Sonny Rollins is not a soundtrack. The music from the soundtrack was never released on vinyl so he went in and re-recorded the music he wrote for the movie Oliver Nelson arrange it and that’s what’s on the album. The music for the actual movie was made using British musicians with Sonny.

I'm surprised you don't get the CC charges you paid refunded when the product is either returned or you can't fulfill the orders due to lack of stock. That makes no sense the CC company gets away with it. The Mofi Nightfly sounds excellent and the RTI vinyl is quiet enough for me. I wonder how much supervinyl would improve on it. Caravanserai is an awesome album and as good or better in some ways to Abraxas in my opinion.
LOL, there is no way mofi’s standard vinyl sounds better than VR900. They wanna use cheap vinyl but still charge VR900 prices. Also their pressing plant is not better than RTI. Had lots of issues with their pressings.
The Beatles box part really is tragicomic. Good you see the humour in it. But this is not good for a small independent record store, the big players should have waited! Not you and your loyal customers. 4:49
I fear that you'll have a hard time shifting those Beatles mono boxes at that price. As you say, the die hard fans already have their boxes, and those of us that are marginally interested can pick up most of the 8 disks as singles. If I were you I'd give the distributor hell if they refuse to take them back. Time matters in this business, and it feels like the window of opportunity for those box sets has closed. That is, unless you are able to deeply discount them, which I'm sure you cannot. I'm sorry they did this to you.
From about 1998 bands began to record digitally (ProTools) and there is no analog master. By 2010 analog recording fell almost completely out of use. Now, recording on a laptop is common. So don't get too hung up on "analog recording".
The Beatles box was simply terribly overpriced. I thought I would try a couple of the standalone issues from it as I got them on sale for $20 each. Played the first two and they just don't sound that great at all. I wound up with 4 of them. I'll play the other two and sell them all at the record show. My og's are more than adequate. These simply aren't worth it.
