  • We took a look inside the renovated National Library of Seychelles 🇸🇨, located in the heart of Victoria.
It is beautiful 🤩 and worth the visit!
The National library unveils a completely remodelled interior after undergoing extensive major works in 2022-2023. The ground plus two-storey building is equipped with modern library facilities for children and adults, open air spaces for study, a computer room, a cafeteria, offices for the institute, an art gallery and many more facilities for use and rental.
The Library offers more than just books in the Children’s Section but it also allows children to pick out toys they want to try keeping them from boredom and more importantly promoting early child-development and play-based learning.
The National Library, a contribution from the people of Seychelles, was officially opened by former President France Albert Rene, on June 18, 1994, after three years of construction which started in 1991. It was formally known as the Carnegie Public Library from way back in 1910 until it was declared the National Library of Seychelles in 1978.
The National Library is FREE for public use and does not require a library card to enter. However, be sure to carry along a valid ID, as it is needed for registration should you wish to borrow books 📚 from the library. The collection comprises fiction and non-fiction books covering the various fields of knowledge.
