Outstanding album! I literally listen to it every night... several times a night. I wake up when it goes off and I restart it again. No lie, no exaggeration. A masterpiece! So elegant and every note is so thoughtful and experienced. This should be required listening at colleges.
Thanks for posting this. I've been a Joni fan for over 45 years but I was not aware of this record...this project until I stumbled upon it the other day..I wasn't sure if it was any good...if it was resonating with listeners.
Two things - 1. I wish there was some footage of Tina Turner singing Edith and the Kingpin. 2. I'd love some confirmation that Prince played the guitar part on that same track. Incredible track and album.
@@jeffreysmith5975 I don’t remember where I have it from, I guess some interview. Mrs Turner said she felt uncomfortable with those jazz giants standing around while she sang the song, let alone cameras. Therefore they let her sing with just the engineer at the knobs.

I love how these musicians connect with these songs, as if they are interpreting from a sacred book. Joni Mitchell's book, which is treated so reverently. The interlude with "Both Sides Now" completely slays. (6:32)
Oh man, Joni’s poetry… it saturates everything: her lyrics, her voice, her music, her paintings… This is a wonderful project, absolutely adore everything about it! Thank You 🙏
What an absolute TREAT to find this documentary. Wayne's statement that "1 IS the groove..." knocked me over! These soulful musicians did a masterful job of painting the emotional hues all up in the lyrics. Thank you SO MUCH! Thank you for your dedication bringing value to the people.
PLEASE help me find the video, or audio clip of Herbie, where he is talking about what Court and Spark actually is about. (the song itself, not the album necessarily). I had only heard it in audio form, and cannot find it. (it wasn't on youtube that i heard it, it was some other website). -- We can assume what it's about, from reading the lyrics to Court and Spark, but Herbie simplified it with facts (probably from Joni's own mouth).
Why have I never heard of this recording. I have to buy it! Tina is so perfect for Edith And The King Pin. I dare say that I prefer it even over Joni's version.
Why ranking the versions? I love all four of them very much: that one on Archives Vol. 3, the original one on Hissing the summer lawns, the great live recording on Shadows & Light and finally this rendition. It is such a great song.
I miss Joni! This is great! Thank you for the video

It blew my mind when I first heard it: like you, I had it on repeat for months.

what an amazing project. Music for all seasons, every song a masterclass. Herbie's piano style always takes me to different spheres.
The most incredible and exciting project... THANK YOU HERBIE and THANK YOU JONI!
One of my All Time Favourite Albums!

Thank you for bringing more beauty into the world! Much needed!
Not gonna lie: Tina's is my favorite.
It's been my ringtone for many years. I love that version even more than Joni's original
This album is up there with the very best ,did it get the recognition it deserved?
Fairly cool documentary except wares all the singers, or at least some them would have been cool to see Tina doing her thing!
Yeah I thought that. No women allowed here apparenty
Joni

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Brings tears to my eyes.
Wayne doing his bit about Elvin Jones is classic!
Did this album win a grammy?
Yes it did, even beating out Amy Winehouse back to black. Guess the voters prefer it to back to black.
Did it win a Grammy?? It won the Big Enchilada! ALBUM OF THE YEAR!
@@oneofmanybychance2742and Amy Winehouse came second.
Yeah Mon!!! I love the line up of vocalist The band was beyond reproach .
Thank you.
A fantastic album, with every player wholeheartedly invested in the project. And these players ain't nothin to sneeze at.
