I've always adored this song. Growing up in the American midwest, the first version I knew was the Tracy Ulman one. I remember this song would come on the school bus radio and straining my ears to hear it through all the school bus noise. Great song for my repertoire!
Great song Ivor, thanks! Still remember that Tracy Ullman video with her singing this in the supermarket. Also I really appreciate you doing the instrumental for this and also for Girls Talk
Buenismo. A great and much overlooked song. It may not have the complexity of God Only Knows or Wouldn't It Be Nice but it has close to the same emotional impact and for that to be written when she was about 16 (?).... i don't think there's a finer debut song. It's tragic this was not properly promoted and managed because of record label stuff ups.
Glad to hear that you enjoyed my lesson. Don't fret I will be slowing down to allow everyone to catch up as soon as I've done the next 10 lessons. Lol Ivor
Good tune, well performed. Full marks for posting lessons on songs for female guitarists. I don't go for all this woke inclusivity stuff but good to see songs made famous by female singers because many are great tunes. Not many cater for women guitarists on here. I think I'll learn this and get my wife to do the singing!
Thank you for your kind comment. I agree with you there are some great tunes out there by female singers. I like your your idea of getting the wife to sing this one. Ivor
Kirsty MacColl was phenomenal. So sad.
