  • This 8 minute video is from the CD produced in 2000 by Peter Thornhill of Garden Shed Multimedia for Ashburton Town Council. Filmed in 1999, it features John Germon (Town Clerk & Devon Dialect Author) & Peter Webb (local author & historian) talking about some of the town's features. John talks about the Town Hall, Cattle in North street, Cutty Dyer & the Town Council. Pete shows Ashburton Marble outside the (then new) Ashburton Information Centre, a wool drying loft, St Andrew's Church & Lt. Guidon and a little on St Lawrence Chapel. It ends with pictures of some of the town's buildings (and some of the businesses in them - some no longer with us). Go to www.ashburton.org for more info on the town. or for the new book on Ashburton's history go to www.halsgrove.com/proddetail.p...
