I’ve had three soft tops going back to the 80s, early 90s ; after that, one hard top and now my 18 soft top. The two soft tops I had living in the Midwest were both cut open once. The third , living in AZ, no problem, but a security box on rails there and was removable. I’ll be looking for something like that again. What’s interesting is how much people complain about things now a days. I don’t think anyone much cared all that much on my fist Jeep in high school, it was noisy, cold, rough ride, horrible on gas and no air. You’d just blast the heat, wear a coat and gloves and that was the Jeep experience until summer came around and everyone loved you again. And as for snow and ice, I just remember smacking the plastic with the handle and having it fall right off. I don’t recall anything ever sticking and nothing tearing. What made me go after the 2018 soft top was real world convenience. The freedom hard top wasn’t really like having a top off, and then it would take up the whole back area on the two door. Real soft tops of old were bulky and complicated to reattach in comparison to this. Hard top removal is a pain to put the whole thing on and off. Maybe somewhere where never rains much, fine. This thing is great and made me come back to Jeep again. Real world topless in minutes and the ability to conveniently stow it away with you is realistic. The heat blast on new modern Jeeps are so strong in comparison to older Jeeps, it’s almost a non issue for those who what to explore a soft top again but are hesitant.
I cant believe im back to your channel 3 years later. I first saw your videos about the RT challenger when i was thinking of buying one of those! Now ive purchased a jeep wrangler!
Thank you for this very informative video. Never really paid attention to the security and safety details . Also the winter details. Defroster and windshield wipers. 😳😳😳
Looking to get a Jeep around next March. It will be for my youngest daughter and fulfill a dream she’s had for 7 years. She and I discussed tops and she pretty much said it’s not a Jeep unless you can take the top off easily. I asked how easy it was with a hardtop to a buddy that had one, he said it was a bitch and terribly easy to scratch up. I noticed he is driving a new JL now with a soft top!
Tinting the widows. I build r c airplanes and use a film called monocote to cover them it comes in 100 s of colors and transparent colors also it is heat applied once it is on it is there for life you tube how to use monocote for rc planes just a thought and a roll is like 15 bucks prolly take two rolls to do all three windows p s sweet looking jeep
