When dismantaling sheet metal, welds and spot welds, a great tool is a butter knife. Go in your kitchen drawer and find a general stainless steel butter knife, chop off bout half of the blade and grind an edge on it, makes the best chisel for seperating sheet metal
The question is though, do you tell the wife before or after? Maybe plead ignorant? Or my favorite blame the kids... Good suggestion I must say, regardless of the "risks" involved. 🤣
Matt, the 33-3 is the coolest traditional old Ford you'll find, she deserves your hard work and the best of everything, like the full-race Ardun flattie!
Excellent work, as always. It is funny that over in the US the norm seems to be dropping the body on the chassis, whereas over here in the UK they drop the chassis, putting the axles over the springs, some times with spacers, and sports cars here from the '30s tend to have a lower ground clearance in the first place.
For my money I would paint it the same green and go full interior. With that engine it deserves the show treatment. Not my money though, it's yours. You do you! As always, great video!
And an aged deep oxblood leather for the interior. Damn I need my own project vehicle 😁. Do it your own way Matt, fulfill your dreams on this one, it's going to be special 🤙🏽
YAY !!! Love this 33 , 3 window , Ardun Coupe ! I remember when you got it Matt . That was about the time I started watching your channel . I've seen a ton of improvements to the whole shop , & all of the cars & trucks . This one is by far my favorite project , so I will be watching every move you make on it . Don't get me wrong , I love it all . This is the way to do it right , not cobbled together . Step by step , until it is completely done . That Sedan Delivery has really come a long way in a short time , & it looks & runs fantastic . This one will get there too . There's a lot more horses to this one , & it requires a full going over , to make sure it's ready for what is powering it down the road . The rockers came out nice , & reinforce the structure . I'm glad it's on the menu for this winter ! Great post , have a great weekend , All !
Nice work but a question. Matt, you said that the frame rail (or inner structure) that had the holes in it that caused the outer rockers to rust, was a problem. Are you planning to weld a cover over it to eliminate that potential problem rearing its head at a later date?
I really do think that this car with the Ardun engine should be a really clean nicely painted car. Not necessarily a show rod but at least a really good driver
The un fun stuff is very rewarding though, I’ve just stripped, treated and painted my chassis. As boring as it was! looking at it reassembled on the floor was so satisfying.
What about the rear fenders on the pickup behind you. PA rust? You do a great job on remaking these panels and components. If I had another 20 years to live, I'd get an old Ford.
Matt I really like the progress on all your Rods especially that sedan delivery. I would have left it primed. So much easier to take care of. How'd you like that oil painting of your 33' sitting there with it's Ardun ?
Great job on the rocker! Question...did you fab the piece or is it premade, and if so how was the fit? This car is the stuff of dreams (can't stop admiring that Ardun)! A set of E&J's would fit the look! Go Iron Trap, keep moving forward!
@@IronTrapGarage Thank you for the reply! I asked because I had some issues with over the counter/internet "patch panels" for my'46 Business Coupe. Admire what you and the crew do! Go Iron Trap, keep moving forward!
Good Morning ITG! I forgot how much this car was channeled, 5-6 inches? You're lucky you're a short guy! Lol! I channeled my 31 coupe 4 inches, that was plenty...
If all of those holes are a problem, shouldn't they be closed up by a one long piece on the inside? This one is in second place after the sedan delivery. It goes without saying that it needs at least a mist coat of green throughout. It needs home made bomber seats.
Sure if it was going to be used as a daily driver In the winter and weather. But for the life it will live from here on out it won’t be an issue. Mainly was the dirt and mud and salt getting into the rockers when they were just “cars” and weren’t collectible
@@terry3665 Thank you very much for such an amazing reply. I asked a simple question and what do I get was your know it all answer. Although I am Subscribed, this has been the first video is a very long time that I actually watched to the end, because it was content that was interesting, informative and a bit entertaining , gave it a thumb up too. I encourage you guy to consider getting back to producing content like this again, it was what attracted me personally to the channel. Your adventures to swap meets and barn finds are boring AF and I cannot give any time to 'Shop Updates' vlogs and the construction projects etc, I do not find that content in the least bit relevant to vintage hot rodding from my jaded perspective. But, this was good content.Thanks.
@IronTrapGarage, well no, everyone has their own flavour and yeah, it is kinda funny but, if no one contributed through comments it would be even more funny right? I hope you are not thinking I'm trolling you because, I'm only trying to provide feedback - that's important isn't it? Don't know if you remember but I suggested crowd-funding your blower project - I thought was a great project and idea so, that all I was trying to project - how is that one coming along by-the-way? cheers.
Imagine pulling up to a show next summer driving your 3 window, Mike in the Cabriolet and Steve in the panel van. Pretty sick!
If ITG was to ever have an open house event, I'd have to make the trip. You do more to keep folks like me motivated than you know.

I like a 5 in 1 paint tool. It's great to separate spot welded panels and can be used a chisel to brake welds.
The question is though, do you tell the wife before or after? Maybe plead ignorant? Or my favorite blame the kids...
Good suggestion I must say, regardless of the "risks" involved. 🤣
I have a proper panel separator tool I use that you can hammer on and resharpen. But that certainly could work for a while. Good tip.
@IronTrapGarage I've used them both. They each work well for different situations.
Super nice. Amen to getting it on the road and cruising with the Iron Trap family.
Coming along , love the Ardun heads .

Looks pissah' !! ❤❤ GREAT WORK. This beast will indeed be something else when finally finished. Love it.
Thanks, it’s been a lot of work!
That car is killer!!!!! Job well done Matt!
Matt she is looking great love that car . Can't wait to see it finished with a nice paint job.
Man, it is something else seeing it in the daylight, looks absolutely killer with the blown Ardun and the stance.
Thank you! We agree!
Hey Matt - I gotta tell ya that you do great work!!! Enjoy your channel and kudos to Mike and Steve too.
Thanks for watching!

Yes! Match the green 💯%
A dark green has been a contender for the color but not sure yet.
Yes!!, please DON'T Bad Chad it. Complete it and license and DRIVE it.

Loving your 33 three window BUNCHES! Take your time and get it the way YOU want it!!! Amazing work as always Matt! Best regards!

The 33 Looks So Badass.
with that engine in it the 33 deserves to be a polished showpiece ... its a Unicorn

It won’t be driving in the winter or dirt roads with mud ever again so it’s likely not an issue.
Great video. More like this please.
That ‘33 is a stunning car! 👍
Just keep grinding it’s a treasure

It was a premade part we got in one of our buyouts. Not sure who made it. Fit was ok but also was for a fordor so required shortening.

This car as is screams American Badass. 🤟
Sweet!
Looks like the rocker on a 33 is just a strip as opposed to a 35 which is much larger. Anyway looks great
Hot rod measurements:
How much lead did they put on the front end of that rocker?
“A shit ton of lead” 😂
Haha! 😂
Good Morning ITG! I forgot how much this car was channeled, 5-6 inches? You're lucky you're a short guy! Lol! I channeled my 31 coupe 4 inches, that was plenty...
5/6 inches can’t recall. Was channeled 9-10” when I got it. Raised it up some believe it or not
Hi Matt. Great video you must be pleased with progress. Why is the ‘33 one you wish to keep indefinitely?
You are using a receiver dryer in the air lines ?
I know its already been chopped but I would go another 2 or 3 inches if it was mine. Its going to be a killer car!
Another 2-3 inches would make it look like a cartoon I think.
Would make it like Bad Chad's worthless, mail slit window junkers.

Lookin' fine!
Are ya,gonna do the outside of the cowl as well?
Yes. One step at a time.
Such a bitchin ride!
Does anyone know where the term "rocker" comes from? It seems like a very nondescript term to describe the area below the door.
Is this 34 going to be a keeper or are you going to sell ir

When you paint it that car needs one of them big flake metal flake paint jobs like back in the 60s. 👍👍🍺🍺🍺🥃 GREAT CAR!!!!
I’m not really building a 60’s style car so it will likely get a color more from the 30’s-50’s.
I think you need to kick this car in high gear and get it driving for gasket goons macungie show. 👍
