But for now, I'm super glad that it doesn't have multiplayer because that just means that the game, missions and story are being developed the way that is intended by the developers. No need to have an entire cosmetic store that revolves around the entire game and useless boring filler missions made for grinding the game's currency. Or at least, that's the way I see it considering all of the awful multiplayer games we've been getting, including rdr2

  • @TuffMelon
    @TuffMelon 2 года назад +563

    Ironically I'm interested in Avatar because its a game that may actually benefit from Ubisofts open world methodology. In their other games it's problematic because its usually so slow to get from point to point, but unless they scale the world in Avatar to be ridiculously big, being able to fly around it would support the size of the world. Sure, itll probably still have the issue of having repetitive locations and so on, but I can deal with that.

    • @JohnDee633
      @JohnDee633 2 года назад +4

      I don’t feel that way at all. I think Avatar will be great. But I love the ghost recon games, I really like the division, assassins creed. I think it’s just cool to hate on big gaming comps for some odd reason.

    • @oasistu
      @oasistu 2 года назад +15

      @@JohnDee633 my opinion (or atleast pre-release excitement) of big gaming comps in general has gone down. It feels like so many games are coming out that just bring nothing new to the table, and this is especially true for Ubisoft. I'm not going to tell anyone else what they should think about certain games or their respective companies, but for me I just think Assassins creed and Far cry is a very tired out game template which Ubisoft have - similar to series like CoD or Fifa which bring very little new and original things to the table.
      Although a lot of my all time favourite games are perhaps quite niche, like Factorio, Kenshi and Mount & Blade so maybe its just that my tastes don't align with the mainstream.

      @@oasistu As someone that has played just about everything, personally I feel like there's a time and place to play that predictable AAA stuff too,. For me co-op gameplay is my number one thing I require more than it needing to be a novel masterpiece. My 8 year old just played Fifa 22 on PS5 for first time. He was floored by how exciting it was. Despite loving them, these days I don't have much time to play games, much less by my lonesome. I need to get some quality time in with my buddy or my son as well. That said, I freaking LOVED Assassin's Creed Black Flag. The seafaring and ship combat was just so much freaking fun. So I'm really looking forward to Skull and Bones... if it ever comes out and has co-op of course.

    I was a beta tester for State of Decay. Back before vehicles even had storage. Had to use the "rucks in trucks" mod and place each ruck into your truck and drive them back really slowly to your base. If you hit things out drove too fast they would fly out and you'd have to stop to put them back in but you'd also need to pull your truck up to something you could stand on to get into the back of the truck. Was fun but frustrating. Nice to see how far the game has come.

The only thing I personally dislike and find it hard to game is First person vs Third person view. I'm on of those older gamers that have played Morrowind when it came out, and i've been very loving of every game that came from Bethesda (Oblivion, Skyrim and the Fallout series) despite their flaws, so without a doubt i am most excited for Starfield, Bethesda have always been a very ambitious developer that tries to push the envelope when they release a new game, Skyrim came out in 2011 and it's still better in a lot of way than lots of AAA open world games released these days, so many follow the tired Ubisoft formula of open world design, rather than the systems driven design with complex NPC AI that Skyrim had, i am sure Starfield will have lots of issues but i will still probably enjoy it and appreciate the things they are trying to do, because i have no doubt there will be some ambitious features in there.

      Skyrim never looked interesting to me. Never ever ever. I was super shocked that people were spending as much money on it as they were when it first came out and the hype was as big as it was.
      All that reading/dialogue, crappy looking design/uninspired dated looking/muddy colored graphics, and first person pov grossness (I’ve made _VERY FEW_ exceptions for playing first person games - such exceptions were the Bioshock series, Half Life 2, and Titanfall 2. The design and gameplay of those games were just so fantastic that it over-rode my extreme hatred for first person pov).
      I just really can’t stand having my view limited, especially when enemies can sneak up on my back, and moving around awkwardly like I’m a robot.
      I went for a third person pov Souls game instead when Skyrim came out. Much cooler *everything,* in the same genre.
      P.S. I _DID_ try Oblivion and Fall Out 3. And even though I got them for a mere pittance used, I still felt like I wasted money on them. I really didn’t enjoy them, and thus I didn’t get very far in ‘em.

    Great list. Never heard of Dokev, but the art style looks amazing. Kind of looks like a little kid GTA game, but not based in reality. That and Crimson Desert I might have to keep an eye on. Kind of want to try all of these, but the reality is I might only be able to play a few. Dying Light 2 and Gotham Knights have my interest now, maybe Saints Row if the character creator is good. I will get to Breath of the Wild 2 eventually since the original is my favorite game of all time. A lot of people are down on Rockstar, but I think the GTA 5 Expanded Edition is going to shock people. I'm imaging the game is going to be like if the game came out this year instead of 2013. So one of many super cool things about sons of the forest, it's gonna have dynamic season changes. What I mean by that is it's gonna go through the 4 seasons like in real life. From summer to fall to winter to spring and back to summer. I can't wait to see how they pull that off in a video game

    Now that graphical fidelity is so much better across all gaming, where it's easier to produce realistic visuals, that means these projects should hopefully be focusing on gameplay so it stands out for new reasons beyond just how it looks.

      How do you know it’s one of the best games coming out? It’s not out yet. My point being, cool your expectations, that way you won’t be disappointed if it’s not what you expect. We need to stop hyping games up and exercise some caution. Modern gaming has taught us that they often release a broken mess. I’m a huge Dying Light fan but I’ll be waiting for reviews before buying. We all should stop pre ordering and only buy if it’s quality. 👍🏻👍🏻.

    Besides Elden Ring, the open world game I'm looking forward the most is Elex 2. While the gameplay of PB-games is always a little bit clunky, they are masters of creating interesting open worlds. The new Kirby-game is also going to be open world btw (or at least part open world).
