great story Vince.....we had the pleasure of driving Vince around the golf course up here in Jackson, Michigan....back, right after or was it before he had knee surgery....he was the kindest, nicest, very good golfer....he signed everything we bought to the course....not many would do that. Vince just to let you know....this is something WE will never forget!!! Thank you for the great memories that we have from this!!!
December 1998 I met Mr. Dickens at a Sam's club store near Murfreesboro, TN. I thanked him for entertaining my family for 50 years , he said "Thank you so much young man, it's my pleasure". Then he ask what we, my girlfriend and I, were buying. I told him why we were there and then he said he and his wife were buying party foods for a get together at his home. He was as down to earth as any family friend you would have known your whole life. 2 days later he received an award on the Opry stage for being a member for 50 years. I didn't know about the award for his 50 years of Opry service, it just seemed to come to me as I saw him and approached him. Before we went back to shopping he wished us a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I offered the same and said "Maybe we'll see you here again soon, Thanks again". He was a real gentlemen and made the world a "Little" sweeter by being in it.
Little Jimmy is my favorite ballad singer
Precious memories Vince, and Bill Cody is my personal favorite person affiliated with WSM,the Opry, and interviewer. He is so down to earth and genuine.
