It’s heavily based on optimization, Kepler has no Nero driver support. Technically speaking, if Kepler had good support a 780ti would perform exactly like a 1060, and the Titan like a 1660. Instead, it performs like a 1050ti since driver support is so bad.
@@kennedymoreiras3054 yeah no. A Titan is the same GPU as the 780. The 780Ti is a fully unlocked GK110, same as the Titan Black. And even with continued driver support, Kepler wouldn't hold up as well as Pascal. It would still be 1060 > 780Ti > Titan.
Owned a GTX Titan at launch. Then, when the Titan Black launched, I bought 4. I bought 4 Maxwell Titan Xs when they launched. Then, two Titan X pascals. That's where I stopped. Those two quad machines had me high up on the 3dmark leaderboards for a bit.
I still game at 1440P on a R9 390 from this era. It isn't ideal, but it does better than one might think. A 780 / 790TI / Titan vs 290 / 390 / 290X / 390X review would be interesting to see today.

I have to say your garden is very nicely laid out, the lawn is especially in good condition, though I did twitch a bit at the hose across it. Nice card as well by the way!
For the ones that are gonna buy a new GPU and don't want to waste money. Most modern games ask for 4gb of GDDR6. Please check this on all GPU's on the site of your choice. Then, look at your budget, and quality. Make sure it's a good card that is your daily driver for 4-5 years. I hope you found this helpful!
I've one of these myself, a relative handed it down to me after he upgraded his rig, currenly paired with a 3770, it lets me play anything i enjoy (primarily MMO's) although im not exactly pushing it to extreme settings, runs a little hot but can't complain :) , great video.
I saw one of these the other day on EVGA B stock refurb for $300. Pricey for the performance, but considering I paid $1000 each for mine when they first came out, it could be interesting if you already had one for SLI. These cards are from when over clocking was still fun. BIOS mod, unlimited power limit, 1450 MHz with liquid cooling
PC gaming has become a very easy game for the developers of both software and hardware to play. Until the consumer starts turning to the console nothing will change.
I picked up an R9 390x for $85 a couple weeks ago.... userbenchmark claims that the r9 is 15% faster than the original titan, and swings even with a 6gb 1060. i love the used graphics card market.
I remember years ago when I was watching a streamer talking about his PC which had two Titans in SLI, one of the first times I realized how ridiculously careless a lot of streamers are with the money they make haha
I know someone who has 2 1080Ti in a PC he only uses for CPU rendering... then again, he plays Star Citizen and has virtual Spaceships for more than a new mid-range car.
Back then SLI wasnt really good... Now with NVLINK SLI its way better as theres not one GPU as master and the other as slave but rather both working as if they were one and they even share memory now
That’s about what my Titan Xp runs at 100% fan speed screaming like a jet at stock (within 3-4x thermal limits, if you don’t max out fans it loses about 15% frequency and hits thermal limits). The blowers just suck (...and blow)
I've always felt like ultra quality is such a waste of resources - very high or high provides 97% of the fidelity at a massively lower performance requirement.

Been a fan for a long time, don't usually comment on the net cause ppl like to argue over any and everything. Anyway I enjoy how you show older/lower hardware because we're not all buying brand new hardware.
Oof. So my GTX 1060 6GB actually performs much better and I'm running a 4790K.
I feel pretty happy about my 1060 6GB :)
I sold mine in hope of getting gtx 1070 or ti version for cheap, but used market is nuts
@@NexY92 just get a cheap Vega 56 for 200$. It consumes a little more but for that price is really good and beats the 1070
@@NexY92 i got a 1080 gaming x for 300 so i don't think its that bad
You should include vram and ram usage in your videos, there’s an option on msi afterburner and rivatuner
Regarding the crashs/bsods it's a problem with the new ryzen 3600 cpus/Nvidia I think they are going to release a new driver to correct the problem
“I tried to get rust to run but it crashed many time”
Yup, that’s my boi 👍
It’s not the card if you wondering
Saw one on eBay. Came to this video because I couldn't find benchmarks for it on my usual site. Thank you for the video.

Crazy purchase, a new rx570 8 gb is cheaper.
I still game at 1440P on a R9 390 from this era. It isn't ideal, but it does better than one might think. A 780 / 790TI / Titan vs 290 / 390 / 290X / 390X review would be interesting to see today.
Isn't 80°c the point where nvidia gpu's throttle? Perhaps the titan can pump out more performance if the fan speed was turned up to maximum.
In Kepler cards that wasn't yet a feature due to them being the early GPU Boost gpus. There was no real boost drop point instead it just ran hotter and hotter.
I think the max temp is 94c for these
RandomGaminginHD If i am not mistaken they shutdown at 94° C. I own a gtx 1080 and the max temperature in msi afterburner is also 94 but throttles from around 80° C from 1999ghz to 1930ghz
@@RandomGaminginHD temp target is 83C, shutdown temp is 94+. With a beefy cooler, GK110 can usually hit around 1200MHz, up from the ~900-1000MHz default boost.
@@rotarubogdan8521 That's not throttling. It still way above the base clock of 1.6 GHz, and 1.999 GHz is still higher than the reference boost clock of 1.75 GHz.
This gpu would still be a beast if not high end if new games were optimised for the titan... and imagine it have gddr6 memory!
They are. My bother updated hardware on his PC. New mother board, new cpu (i9 series) new memory sticks and kept his GTX Titan X. He can play all new releases including Cyberpunk with ease. He just finished Horizon released for PC no effort at all.

What arout RDR2 and GTA Online?
Waldherz FeuerClan GTA online is GTA V, and RDR2 isn’t on PC yet
the latest version of GTAV is a LOT more performance hungry than the launch version though.
@@My_Old_YT_Account There is a seperate GTA Online which you can purchase seperately and RDR2 is still their latest game in general. Which you could already play on PC..just not legal :P

Not really if one of these cards is still performing this well. Two would be doing great still and hitting 60 FPS on Ultra in all these games. He may even be able to run Cyberpunk2077 on Ultra at 60FPS with two Titans.
@Malachai Carter What I didnt know that. How ?
@Malachai Carter Damm cancer at 33.
I remember this card back then. People going crazy and then the 780 with the TI variant. Really brings back memories of people that still used to be around.
Love how you didnt kill the dog in GTA5 gameplay :)
Just handed my 980ti to my son which was still doing me proud, went for a 5700xt and thats blown me away with the performance, have a ryzen 7 1800x and think that will do till the 3000 drop in price.
How good u think is this 5700xt compare with a 2070 super ??
@@rafahdez2772 Looking at all the benchmarks its pretty close performance wise, its beats the 2070 hands down and for alot cheaper, i looked at both cards and went with the 5700xt for £385 which i think is a bargain
Love the look of the heatsync with the transparent glass/plastic over it. Funny when I was in high school I’d have killed for a Titan... now just a couple of years later my GPU is way better and didn’t cost nearly as much.
There is 2 types of ppl

Ultra People: fuck the performance i want to see nextgen graphics!

Curious how the absolute top-of-the-line card back in that generation had as much RAM as the _lowest_ card in the current generation.
Hm, no? Aren't the 16 and 20 series basically the same generation? Same architecture, similar release date, and matching performance stairs
curious how tech gets better as time passes

For the ones that are gonna buy a new GPU and don't want to waste money.
Most modern games ask for 4gb of GDDR6.
Please check this on all GPU's on the site of your choice.
Then, look at your budget, and quality. Make sure it's a good card that is your daily driver for 4-5 years.
I hope you found this helpful!
It can run 60fps ultra just fine... on Minesweeper. I just tried.
I remember a kid bragging he had bought this video card at the time for € 1300, - when it was new of course
To be fair if he was blowing money like that then, He probably has a 2080 ti by now XD
I've one of these myself, a relative handed it down to me after he upgraded his rig, currenly paired with a 3770, it lets me play anything i enjoy (primarily MMO's) although im not exactly pushing it to extreme settings, runs a little hot but can't complain :) , great video.
Such a badass card for its time, shame the Kepler architecture didn’t age well as an RX 570 for the same price will beat this old beast haha
Emesi Tech rx570 isn’t nearly as old
ahh i remember the kidney joke times
this thing last like 7 years and still capable of plays todays game id say it last 7 more years lol
RandomGamimgHD: Metro Exodus is probably one of the most demanding games - well ever!
Crysis: I'm still here!
How is crysis demanding past 2010 cards?
Crysis 3
This is funny: a 1200$ GPU is not suppose to be outdated only After 4 years..
PC gaming has become a very easy game for the developers of both software and hardware to play. Until the consumer starts turning to the console nothing will change.
@@Jafmanz That's a good answer
Well a titan is not really a gaming gpu. They are made for everything but gaming basically.
I still have one of these cards since March 2013 :)
I picked up an R9 390x for $85 a couple weeks ago.... userbenchmark claims that the r9 is 15% faster than the original titan, and swings even with a 6gb 1060. i love the used graphics card market.
Info is wrong. 1060 6gb and amd 580 8gb are more on par. Your gpu is old and ripped off. 1060 6gb or 580 8gb go for $100 used
I remember years ago when I was watching a streamer talking about his PC which had two Titans in SLI, one of the first times I realized how ridiculously careless a lot of streamers are with the money they make haha
I know someone who has 2 1080Ti in a PC he only uses for CPU rendering... then again, he plays Star Citizen and has virtual Spaceships for more than a new mid-range car.
MegaHellstrike those would still be able to crush games in 1080p
Back then SLI wasnt really good... Now with NVLINK SLI its way better as theres not one GPU as master and the other as slave but rather both working as if they were one and they even share memory now
I owned one of these back in the day, upgraded from my HD7950 3GB after I needed it for a second system and it was an absolute dream at the time
Damn I remember when this card just came out. Me and the boys were freaking out at school dreaming of having a titan. Seems like yesterday

Funny cause wasn't the 970 was nearly on par with the 780ti.
Mines still going strong, looking forward to upgrading at some point
Loving the new graphics for the average FPS, 1% and 0.1% lows! Makes everything really clear, without covering gameplay!
Minecraft will make your CPU Suffer, and Continuum shaders will Suffer Titan. .w.
Temps seem a bit too high and I think it might need some cleaning and a bios reflash.
That’s about what my Titan Xp runs at 100% fan speed screaming like a jet at stock (within 3-4x thermal limits, if you don’t max out fans it loses about 15% frequency and hits thermal limits). The blowers just suck (...and blow)
Really makes you realise how quickly high end cards like this age.
