I just so happened to come across this video, and had to pause to write this. Holy smokes you are SOOO inspiring. I'm also a non-traditional student and just got into medical school this year. Thank you for this, and for giving hope to all of us who feel they can't succeed in this rigorous profession. I'm so happy I didn't give up. I took the MCAT 4 times. Got rejected. And here I am today, sitting on an acceptance and still going to interviews. Grit is EVERYTHING and you obviously demonstrate that.

I graduate in August with my BS in Clinical Psych and my first two years of college were so rough. I was failing and withdrawing from classes left and right and struggled a lot with my mental health . I got my life together and found my passion FINALLY. Planning on taking the GRE over the summer and planning to apply to PA school in the near future. I've tried so hard to bring my GPA up from the depths of hell and currently getting patient care hours as a nurse tech while also being a part of 3 clubs and volunteering on the side. Ive been down in the dumps these past couple of weeks because I feel like my GPA isn't competitive enough to get into any good PA programs but this video really makes me feel hopeful and more driven than ever before.

I feel uplifted and ashamed of myself while watching lol. I’m going into my senior year of college. No volunteer work, no clubs, & a b GPA. I have always dreamed of being a doctor, but I gave up on the dream my second year here in college. Just yesterday I decided that I’m not going to sit and sulk and just give up. I am going to use this year to get myself out there and boost my gpa. Apply to grad school and start studying for the MCAT. It’s so crazy that at only 20 years old I feel so behind on this process. Plenty Of Chocolate The informal route is taking the med school prereqs of your own accord. And preparing for the MCAT on your own or finding a prep course for that. You also will have to get letters of recommendation, shadowing experience and clinical hours by yourself too. A formal program helps you cover everything you’ll need to apply to med school. But if you’re entrepreneurial/self-motivated, it’s a lot cheaper to go informal.

LOVE THIS! One of my biggest things was just not having the guidance. I knew for a fact I wanted medical school but I didnt know really the right path in regards to tests, grades etc etc. Thank you for this!

Yes, I feel you! I think that's what discourages a lot of people from pursuing this career path. It's hard even when you have all the guidance that you need - add not having guidance on top of that and it seems almost impossible. I'm just grateful that I'm able to help bridge the gap even if it's just a little bit!

Feels daunting. I’ve been a nurse for a year and I’ve decided to go back. Need to take a few pre reqs first and I’m trying to figure out how to get extra curricular I’m as well.

Where i live we go straight into medical school once we finish high school. I decided to go to a public school(completely free), which has a one year admission course. After my first semester i got cold feet and decided to quit and I enrolled myself in a private university to study psychology. I'm supposed to start on march but I feel like I made the wrong decision, since I was so scared of how difficult med school was going to be. I think i'm going back to medicine, which means I'm going to be a year behind the rest of my classmates, and that made me really insecure but your video made me realized that anything is possible, and that being a year behind is definitely not the end of the world. Thanks for sharing your experience!

This was the probably the best 20 minutes I've ever spent listening to someone talk and share their story. You are extremely humble, inspiring and deserving of where you are in life. Thank you for this video! ❤ I wish you continued success!!!

Brittny thank you so much for sharing your story! I’m currently a senior in college, I graduate this year (undergrad) and I was really afraid of the whole entire process of applying/getting into medical school. I’m involved on campus, and I volunteer but i do not have any shadowing hours as of yet. Your story has really showed me that everything truly does happen in God’s timing! Thank you, and many blessings in your education toward becoming a doctor!!

I am literally, in aww, like words cannot even express how much you inspire me!
I am in my sophmore year at university and doing EMT training while doing my regular 20 credit hours on a quarter system and I been very overwhelmed and just felt like what if its all for nothing. What if I can't be a peditric surgeon cause my grades weren't high enough to get into medical school, and after watching your videos I just see how there are so many different paths you could take and still manage to reach your dreams no matter how long it takes. All i really am trying to say is THANK YOU for showing me hope.
p.s. this might sound a little creepy and possibly weird but I added your youtube channel's name to my inspo wall and told my friends I wanna start growing in life "thebrittnyway"!

You are very welcome! & I am very flattered that you are inspired by my journey and want to grow "TheBrittnyWay" but I'd much rather that you do it 'TheKatlinWay' because nobody can do you better than you can. It's your superpower!
