En fait l' école primaire englobe l' école maternelle (petite section à grande section ) + l' école élémentaire ( du CP au CM2 ) .Beaucoup de gens font la confusion même en France en parlant de la Primaire pour dire l' élémentaire mais la Primaire signifie également la Maternelle . Primaire = Maternelle + Elémentaire , Secondaire = Collège + Lycée .

Bonjour. We don't have this system in India at all. But why do you described in ages it's confusing for us. Please say as per standard wise. Like First std, second standard and so on...

India school is 1 class to 12 class. 12 years of school till age18 there after college start different programme 3yr 4yr 5yr

You mean for literature right? I know they study a lot of classics, authors like Voltaire, Rousseau, Camus, Sartre, etc. ;)
okay. was more interested to know about philosophy, history etc (not science).
So of course they're going to study all of classic philosophers, Plat, Socrates, etc. And they'll study history just like we probably would anywhere else, like European history, world history, etc

I have a question that in France public school they communicate with French or in English?
I'm very surprised to hear that a person as young as you has a parent that grew up in a time where age 13 was the minimum age to not have to continue with schooling. What year was the age increased to 16?
ah yeah the increase to 16 happened in 1959 so my dad was too young but I guess they were still used to doing that especially in the more rural parts of France.

They are backwards since 6 grade.

Yes in middle school and high school. 6e, 5e,4e,3e (middle school) 2nd 1ere terminal (high school)

I am from Pakistan my age is 16years I no know about french language can I take admission in french school or college.i know about english
we can't really help you with that. you should contact the schools directly and see what they need to know and to get from you ^^
I was 12 when I moved here and did a year of learning French. Throughout that one year, slowly I start to mix with the normal class (usual ones) and started taking some subjects like Arts Plastiques, Sports, Math, English, Spanish and so on. So it depends on your progress :)
The whole year of French class is called UPE2A. Unité pédagogique pour élèves allophones arrivants. That also kind of means that your classmate in that class (not in the normal class like 5ème and etc) don’t speak French as well :)

yeah we start going to university at the age of 18/19
Collège is frim 10/11 to 14/15.

ah la crèche is right after giving birth until before "la maternelle"
so between 2 months old baby and 3 year old todler

ah j'ai jamais entendu "le primaire" j'ai toujours dit "la primaire" et tout le monde autour de moi dis comme ça. c'est sans doute une histoire de région^^
@@Street_French On peut dire les 2 tout dépend de ce dont on parle , si on parle du "secteur primaire" on dira "Le" alors que si on parle de l'école primaire on dira "La".
"primaire" étant un adjectif et ayant exactement le même genre au féminin qu' au masculin on peut l' utiliser comme nom avec le ou la lorsque le nom commun juste avant est sous entendu , du coup on peut très bien dire La primaire ou Le primaire sous entendu La (section) primaire ou Le (secteur) primaire . ^^ .

Officiellement, Primaire = Maternelle + Élémentaire.
Tout comme Secondaire = Collège + Lycée.
ah ok^^ but in use, we say primaire for "école élémentaire"

for the country whose people invented the metric system they sure do have the weirdest scheme for the school years
CP, CE1, CE2, CM1, CM2, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Final
It's not so weird , school system in France is broken down into 2 parts : First is --> Primary school ( infant school + elementary School ) and 2nd is --> Secondary school ( Middle School + High School ). So when you are in the first (Primary) part metric system goes from "low section" to "CM2" ( low section , middle section , high section , CP , CE1 , CE2 , CM1 , CM2 ) CM2 is the last level of Primary School and then you have the 2nd part ( Secondary) metric system goes from "6 ème" to "Terminale" ( 6ème , 5 ème , 4 ème , 3 ème , 2nde , 1ère , Terminale ) "Terminale" = "Final" is the last level of Secondary School , this is the year you pass the final exam called ( BAC = Baccalauréat ), then this diploma ( BAC ) opens the door to university ^^.
You can consider that CM2= 7 ème , CM1 = 8ème , CE2 = 9ème , CE1 = 10 ème , CP = 11 ème , high section = 12 ème , middle section = 13 ème , and finally low section = 14 ème but these words ( 14 ème , 13 ème ect ect ) seem too complicated for little school children who do not even know how to count at this age , so we decided to call it ( low section , ect ect ... , CP ,CE1 .... CM2)
