did the directors change for s8? I was introduced to the show when s8 came out, and its the only season I've watched, it put me off from watching the rest
That was the year that HDR actually started to become used- and producers didn't know what they were doing - probably.
Knight of the 7 is basically a comedy
@SuryaGupta-te7fq No the directors were the same, but the show had long since run out of source material. The later seasons were stupid cos it was all the shows' writers and directors ideas, who chose to rush a simplified and illogical conclusion for a series whose source books still aren't complete. The books still being incomplete is the fault of the author, but the dumb replacement story the makers of the show went with is all on them.

It's not a natural death. In the book, he died of a cold, and in the show, he died of blood poisoning due to a wound.

@ill-eagle0155 That's mostly GRRM's writing. It's a pretty faithful adaptation. A lot of the exchanges are directly from the book.

I DO wonder if HBO did have GOT true to what GRRM was thinking, but then he saw how it played out on screen and thought "Seven gods no, that was a terrible idea."
@karmachameleon326 Iam tossing round the concept that he hasn't finished the books BECAUSE of how poorly the show ended. It's pretty obvious that most folk hated the way the show ended but my understanding is that the show's ending was loosely built around the concepts of how he intends to end the books. Yeah it was rushed and not fleshed out but most folk hated the big events, John shacking up with his Aunt then killing her, Bran getting the throne, John just fing off back to the wall and the whole defeat of the white walker army. Folk didn't hate these events because they were rushed or not telegraphed enough they hated them because they were just rubbish endings and Iam betting that these endings are or were going to make up his final books.
But at the same time , this epic universe wouldn’t exist without him so I am happy just to have it in general

I've realized that even with expensive special effects driven movies, it's the story, characters, and dialog that make them memorable. Big story or small story doesn't really matter. For example, here the Trial of Seven focused on Dunk and his struggles and you felt his struggle. The character is what was driving the action. It wasn't, "Wouldn't a zombie polar bear be really cool? Let's send our cast on a stupid, pointless mission so we can have one." Meanwhile, a man teaching a boy to sew and cooking an egg mcmuffin is 100% satisfying because it's a great bonding moment for people we like.

Shoutout to the writers and showrunner Ira Parker for sticking to the source material (sometimes even verbatim) and not trying to change things that don't need to be changed. And still being able to expand on source material with the same quality
