Abe was my platoon sergeant. One of the best soldiers/person I’ve ever met. I was a panther for 6 years and when I was leaving he said, “ you are going to miss this place”. He was right. I went on to my next duty station and got out and now I dream of being a paratrooper again. It was the highlight of my life and I hope that when I die, I get to jump in heaven.
Being a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, was the best choice of my military career. Even at the young age of 64 years old, lol, it gives me a sense of pride, and accomplishment. Very proud to have served. Best way to start a military career is to go Airborne. It most definitely will open the doors if you wish to continue to Ranger school or Special Forces.
"No sky too high, no blast too fast, you call we fall..." I was young once, a Red Devil in the 1/508th. Going on four decades, I'm still close to those with whom I served. They need me, I'm there.
when army sent me from 82nd to leg in Germany reason only did one 3 year tour. Because in 82nd saw how should be done. When saw leg saw how not to do things.
I wasn't airborne, I was a red leg "fister!!". I miss active duty Army when I was in. I take my kids to the 82nd Museum from time to time, even my daughter ask me questions while my 2 boys run around.
100 years? Where the hell did they get this spokesman? 1940 was the Airborne test platoon. The birth of US Paratroopers. 2020 = 80 years. Love the video but this jackass REMF should have been vetted before he was allowed to open his cake eater.
The paratroopers of the 40s 50s 60s and 70s. Our airborne school was tough. They beat the shit out of us. Nowadays I hear kids say how easy airborne school is. A beret was something earned not given. Is a totally different armed forces Nowadays.
@@wadethoms650 absolutely that's why the confederate army never gave any medals. They would say medals were only awarded to the dead. Like the old military saying, the only heroes are those who never came back. Nowadays they want to make the national guard seem like they are green berets, they want to make women , gays, lesbians and transgenders, like real men. Women Rangers, is all bullshit. In the jungles we carried the m60 machine gun with ammo extra ammo can food binoculars gas mask, grenades, smoke grenades, claymore mines, prc 77 radio, water, plus or heavy 85/100 pound rucksacks, the mortars plt. Accomplishing 10 miles every 20 straight hour's. Afghanistan is not vietnam, the deserts are not the jungles, the taliban are not the battle harden North Vietnamese army.
When are you ever going to put an entire division sized force on the ground in 2020 with all the fighters and air defenses out there gunning for an American aircraft? When?
It really irritates me to see these officers wearing the beret wrong. They have been taught how to correctly wear it, they choose to do it thier own way. 1st Sergeant Erik Salo wears it wrong. He has it crooked on his head and he has it covering his right eye. He wears it crooked just so he can pull it down over his eye, but this goes against policy and training. Sergeant First Class Chris Abrahamson wears his correctly, and his appearance is more professional because he wears it properly.
At :50 this REMF opens up his cake eating pie hole incorrectly stating it’s been 100 years. Completely killed the video for me. Read your history before speaking for The Airborne. AATW!
My only regret is that I didn't know how much I loved the 82nd, and how great it was to be there, when I was there.
Amen, bro. Didn't know how great it was to be an All American Paratrooper till I left.
Ain’t that the truth.

Facts man
There are only two good units in the Army, the one you're going to and the one you left.

My Home away From Home. Now retired and I miss Ft. Brag
It is my dream to serve in the 82nd Airborne. My Great Grandfather served in the 82nd during WW2, jumping in Italy.
Same. My great grandfather was 82nd in ww2. Jumping in France I believe.
If you're 18 or over then there's only one thing stopping you, YOU.
