Ralsei showed a lot of confusing behavior in this chapter, and while I don't think he is malicious, I think there are some things he's hiding about himself and the world around him that might be concerning later. At the very least, it is good to hear that if you hug him on the swan, it's reciprocated here.
High probability that he’s Asriel. Also, a theory I just thought of; what if, while on the computer as a child, Kris had a pop-up ad from Spamton(or something similar) come up and scare the shit out of him, causing him trauma. Asriel came over and comforted him, telling him it wasn’t real and couldn’t hurt him. Then here it is, VERY real and actively attacking him, bringing back that past trauma and causing his random outburst of yelling. I’d bet dollars to donuts that if we weren’t controlling Kris, the character named Kris would not hesitate to attack Spamton out of trauma.

Absolutely same lol, so glad I got this on a blind playthrough, it made it less eerie, Ralsei felt like he really cared, too. He's still sus, of course. He seems to really be in-tune with the "game world" and making sure it's "functioning". And it still sucks for Kris that they're our puppet. But I like to think I am giving Kris a viable support network to fall back on....
For those who’s thinking that Ralsei might be hiding something intimidating or will turn his back against us soon, then let’s just hope that all of the hugs that we kept giving him since the very beginning until now might affect his behavior or decision. After all in the previous chapter, he was the one who said that *the way we treat others makes all the difference.*

It fits with Ralsei's title now being "Hug Prince" instead of "Dark Prince." I'm just sad I did Spamton NEO before Rouxls Kaard's fight because I missed this and I want it.

Kris yelling because they realised, should they remove their strings (soul) like Spamton, they would also die. So they gotta live with being controlled by us. And that's messed up (: Cute that Kris wanted a hug from Susie though.
With that in mind, it makes sense for chris to eat the entire pie, trying to heal themselves because of the damage that it means to take out your soul.
I think Ralsei's hiding a lot from both the player and Kris, but I don't think any of it is done in a malicious way or misguidedly. Toby's good at subverting expectations. We're used to the nice character having a really messed up bad side in movies and videogames, but what if this time Ralsei's still really nice but just needing to hide stuff because he fears what the player and Kris may do with the information? I think that he's very nice even if he's secretive, but maybe he has a really good reason to act so suspicious and strange.
To some degree he's also very self-aware, in the SnowGrave route the scene where Susie and Noelle go on the ferris wheel still happens, but the camera doesn't move from Kris and Ralsei and he quickly gets awkward and uncomfortable that it's not happening

I think he's just playing dumb so we don't notice he's aware of the player, since on both chapters he interrupts himself when we come back from being Susie. It may be that he doesn't know what to think of us yet, being that we're possessing Kris.
You have to remember that in Deltarune Us (players) and Kris are separate entities, and it's clear at this point that Kris doesn't enjoy being controlled against their will. I'm pretty sure that Ralsei is trying to save Kris from the player's control.
Kinda salty that I missed this. On my 1st playthrough I hugged Ralsei, on my 2nd I did the rude gesture but I only fought Spamton Neo on my 2nd playthrough and hit "No" when Susie asked if Kris was alright

That said, by that point I don't think we'll be controlling Kris anymore. He might just hug Ralsei to prove he doesn't need *OUR* hugs anymore mid fight. Which brings up the question, is the soul we are controlling Kris's soul in the first place, or did we somehow hijack their body with our soul (thanks Gaster) and they are using some of their remaining determination to regain control. And if its the latter, what the hell happened to Kris's og soul and why did ours get put in there?

You are a soul that is "connected" and build a body for yourself, then reality hits and you are told that you don't get to choose who you are, then your soul is put into Kris, with the voice you connected to saying that "Kris" is who you are, what your name is. My take on this is that you are the soul for Kris, but neither you or them agree that the soul matches the vessel it is in. With how much open lgbt rep is in this game, and the fact that canonicaly Kris uses they/them pronouns, it wouldn't surprise me if this was a nod to transgender people and gender dysphoria (feeling that your soul/brain doesn't match the body it was put in, causing pain from the difference)
Question is... does Ralsei know? Kris most likely knows, and Susie definitely doesn't. Perhaps Ralsei is trying to stop Susie from having an existencial crisis and to be Kris' fluffy stress goat due to already having an existencial crisis? The roaring _does_ seem pretty bad in comparison, and if this is the case, then Ralsei is kind of in character to take the time to try and calm Kris down, though the lonesome prince is obviously not very good at it...

True, and definitely intentional! That's probably the intented takeaway from this interaction, actually: Yeah, hugs and all, but Ralsei is shown bypassing the room bounds (twice!) while the other characters are even depicted as being constrained by them. Maybe Ralsei was so eager to make Kris stop feeling dread over his lack of free will that he dropped the facade by mistake?

It looks pretty weird for Ralsei just to end up in black space, I mean Susie didn’t notice anything odd when Ralsei was pushed back, but it’s still a pretty odd decision to just let him float weirdly like that. There could’ve been a convenient space right there or even he could’ve just been pushed behind Susie when she moves towards Kris. Just overall a strange as hell choice to do it this way, which makes me think it was on purpose somehow. @@dormitthings4773 I dunno. I know it's a weird thing to overlook in a game with so much attention to detail but it's hard for me to believe anything else. Besides, even if it were a sign of something, I Don't think we can remotely guess what it could be anyway.
I find it more likely that Ralsei wanted to make Kris better so much that he decided to faze trough walls, not that he's secretly evil. We don't really have any evidence of foul play from him at all, and it's to much of a cheap twist for Toby Fox to do that to us lol.
I suppose it's purely coincidence that he resembles a mix of Asriel and Toriel, the two people Kris loves the most? That his name is just an anagram for Asriel? That he knew Kris and Susie's names? That he knows where the unused classroom is in the school? No, no, this stinks of deception. The only question is if Ralsei is the mastermind or the pawn. Ralsei benefits from the cycle that has begun here. Each time a fountain is created, then sealed, his own kingdom expands. It wouldn't surprise me if the power of the sealed fountain is transferred to Ralsei's.
@@Bluesit32 Many of his behaviors are suspicious, but Queen also knows where the classroom is. It could be an inherent ability dark world royalty. Ralsei may also possess spells that allow him to perceive parts of the light world, since he is the most magically gifted darkner we have met thus far. He may know Kris and Susie's names because it was written in the prophecy or because he is intended to be an ideal version of Asriel, one who understands Kris and his new friends. It also seems unlikely that Ralsei would want his fountain to grow. After the queen fight and during the legend, his dedication to preventing an imbalance of light and darkness is clear. Some of his suspicious behavior could be a result of his current identity crisis, hence why he doesn't want to discuss what happened with spamton neo. Although this is purely speculation there are too many important details that we are kept in the dark about. Whether he is pure in his motives is impossible to know now. Subverting our expectations is a classic Toby move.

Remember while we can control quite a few of Kris's actions and the general vibe of their responses to questions, what they *actually* say is all on Kris. At the end of chapter one, if you call Toriel before heading home, it is Kris who tells her that they were with a friend. They say this again if you call Toriel in chapter 2 before heading to the Dark World.
@GoTi4No going off of the "Tea" scenario, Kris at the very least does like Ralsei as a friend, but slightly less than they like Noelle, which all makes sense. Ralsei likely still seems kinda dubious to Kris, but also still seems like someone they enjoy the company of and can sort of trust. Susie though? I'm positive Kris REALLY likes having Susie around, considering the +120 they get from drinking Susie Tea. I think Susie's friendship with Kris feels less forced for the both of them, which makes sense as they created a meaningful bond over the course of Chapter 1. It's really interesting how different Kris' relationships with Ralsei and Susie are, since Ralsei has mostly only just "been nice" to Kris without really understanding yet what makes friendships really special. He said so himself I think. I think the poor dude is just.. for lack of a better word, too shallow a person right now. He lacks a lot of actual life experience despite all the knowledge he seems to have.

@GoTi4No there is a video about every character drinking every person tea (Noelle tea, Kris tea, Susie tea, Ralsei tea), they heal different people for different amounts. (Noelle heals 400hp for drinking Susie tea for example)

The cat plushie dude on the first chapter mentions the knight with red text, and on the second chapter when kris breaks the tire at the end, toriel says “the tires… looked like they’d been slashed (and the slashed it’s with a red text)” so yeah it makes sense what you say
I don't think he's evil. He's definitely hiding something, major information. But he seems to really care about Susie and Kris. He's been alone for years, it can't be a act.
Honestly with how this chapter played out I feel _really_ bad controlling Kris, even though I’m trying to push towards the happiest ending I can get (giving out as many hugs as possible, completely pacifist, all that good stuff) Just hope I can free Kris from my control by the end and let him have his happy ending

If this series has taught me anything, it is to fear for my emotions. I know the fluffy friend isn't telling us everything, but I know it'll hurt when he does.
Why tell a traumatized person more about the hidden meanings Jevil and Spamton were talking about? If anything, I feel Ralsei is only giving out information as is necessary, since most of the time, elaborations can't be made without making the emotional states of others much worse. ... Imagine how Kris would feel, if they didn't have time to cool down, and were told about what their adversary meant; they likely wouldn't feel any better, which would be bad because, as a human, they're the leader of the party.
what i find interesting about this is that kris seeks a hug without player input, meaning that kris themself does seem to be a hugger after all! that makes me feel less bad about all the hugging i do in deltarune-i often worry about whether i'm like… annoying or hurting kris when i play, i guess, since we know that our actions and will are completely separate from theirs.

What I think was happening was that Kris actually does like hugs, but only from specific people. If someone like, in this case, Ralsei, hugged Kris, they'd be uncomfortable. But they ask Susie for one. The reason? Kris is more fond of Susie than anyone else in the Fun Gang. They actually like and trust her as a friend. And it could also have something to do with the type of hugs given. Again, for example, Asgore gives giant fluffy bear hugs. Kris might not be extremely comfortable with that, given Asgore saying they didn't like hugs. (I've had to do these things myself, so I've had some experience!)

Kris was too shy to give a hug back to Ralsei in front of Susie. Maybe that's why they turn to her for a hug? To throw a bit of laughs between the group to not make it awkward. We as the player my control Kris, but its cutscenes like this that show Kris what he feels. Maybe everytime he pulls us out, is for them to do what they want without you following them. I see Ralsei as a good counterpart of Flowey. -Flowey is "kill or be killed" while Ral is friend to all living things. -Both are fluffy goat boi. -Both have a level of awarenes above the other characters, but still not the greater scope. Flowey knows that it's all just a game but then there is Sans, who is above his view. While Ralsei knows that he world is in a closet and its inhabitants are objects, but then is the Spam guy who knows better, and even Kris who might know they are getting controles but cant expres it. -In the genocide route, flowey notice that, even beeing above the oters characters will, he cant handle Chara. You can see that Ralsei notice that things are deraling in the genocide route when he and Kris waits for Susie outside Noelle's door) - Flowey already have a background as Asriel (literal Prince of the underground) but become flat character who just wants to kill everything, while Ralsei is flat in the beggining (he is pretty much the Prince of nothing) but get molded by the player actions, just as he's castle n town. -Few characters seems to notice them. While Flowey hides, Ralsei simply... dont get noticed by some, like Noele. Its extra wierd because she asks to stay behind Susie wich means she CAN see Ralsei in front of her, but others flavor textes sugests that she not even know he exists...
Sans isn't above as Flowey at 4th wall awareness this is wrong. Don't forget besides Frisk, Flowey is the character who has most determination, determination gives you powers like time manipulation, 4th wall awareness and etc. He even encourages you at making pacifist route in game. He definitelly has more knowledge than Sans.
@@isimyok960 when im say that that is above, its not about know more meta-wise, but awerenes of the scope where they live. Flowey is a sociopathic child that have acess to the game mecanics similar to a player perspective and only see things as a game, while Sans's is a cientist who understands that he lives in a world inside another world; and there is unknow being consuming, reseting and deleting his world and there is nothing he can do (wich is pure cosmic horror stuff). Even not having the same meta acess, he's knowledge IS a level above, and he is so good in exploit the game mechanics that even Flowey gived up in face him

My theory is Ralsei is really a Lightener pretending to be a Darkener, which would explain why he didn't turn into a statue like Lancer or Rouxls. Which one, you ask? Asriel, of course.
He probably didn't turn into a statue because of the fact that he's a dark prince and also related to the fountain of Pure Darkness. It makes sense coz the PD fountain is basically the most original fountain and what not

One fun little thing i discovered with a friend yesterday that some people might not know, since i guess a lot of players played ch2 without playing ch1 in the same save file: The tank thing you build in ch1, as we all know, comes back in ch2, but depending on how it looks like it actually slightly changes the rouxls boss fight's attacks and the look of the mech-thing in the final pacifist bossfight Since lots of players start from ch2, they'll have the default tank, but if you acutally built one in ch1 it will come back in ch2 and have these changes
Damn, first playthrough I missed this battle completely, and on the second I did the fight before hugging Ralsei. Might play through it again, just for this honestly (and maybe some other secrets but mainly this)
while i do think ralsei is hiding things, i don't think he's evil. to be honest I'd be disappointed if he was. not only because he's my favourite character, but also because it'd be an obvious twist that we've already seen before with characters like flowey and asriel
Personally, I think Ralsei is hiding something from the PLAYER, not necessarily Kris. I think Ralsei is trying to help Kris attempt to separate themselves from the player. There's multiple moments where it appears like Ralsei knows we're there, and he also probably knows we're partially controlling Kris, so maybe him trying to brush stuff off is like him trying to distract the player rather than Kris themselves.
What if Ralsei has Kris’s and Susie’s and others’ best interest at heart, and that’s why he shields information from the Player? It’s possible that, if he is aware of game mechanics, he’s aware that he’s in a game, was intended to be a tutorial NPC, and aware of the existence of a Snowgrave/Weird Route where the Player could kill everyone, hence he distrusts Them and has the “so, that’s why” conversations with Kris when the Player couldn’t see? My money’s on Ralsei being the Shadow Crystal Holder of Castle Town, but the Player would only get to fight him in a Weird Route after the Player has corrupted Kris and killed Susie (as like a nod to Sans in the genocide route).

While Ralsei is the focus here, lets not ignore Susie being really concerned for Kris. Its so nice to see their friendship developing here and the two really care for each other.
I watched my friend fight spamton at one point but this didn't happen even though he hugged Ralsei at the swan. Makes me wonder if you had to hug Ralsei in chapter 1 as well?
I think Ralsei is being secretive from us the player and that means he has to be secretive to susie and kris which is sad when you think about how they are his first true friends and he cant even be open with them.
I think Ralsei is, like Queen was to Noelle, a darkner projection of specifically Asriel. Queen was like Noelle's overbearing mother (who also holds a position of power) while Asriel is probably filling the hole Kris has been feeling from Asriel being away at uni. Asriel and Kris sounded extremely close throughout all the dialogue in the game (Kris even respected Asriel's privacy regarding the room in Queen's place), Kris even got a bit upset when given a hot chocolate at the diner as that was something Asriel got for them. Ralsei appears to be the darkner version of Asriel who can go where ever Kris goes in whatever dark world because of this connection and isn't limited to just the castle. Maybe the ending of the Deltarune chapters exist as they do so far because his despair and loneliness is taking over (which was a big theme in Undertale along with determination).

Ralsei is strange in this chapter. He seems almost narcissistic about the “think of something you like, something soft” part, and I don’t really buy the whole “Titans are gonna happen LUL” story, it feels like he just said it to make opening dark portals seem more dangerous. I don’t know… for now he’s pretty adorable though

I think Ralsei's hiding a lot from both the player and Kris, but I don't think any of it is done in a malicious way or misguidedly. Toby's good at subverting expectations. We're used to the nice character having a really messed up bad side in movies and videogames, but what if this time Ralsei's still really nice but just needing to hide stuff because he fears what the player and Kris may do with the information? I think that he's very nice even if he's secretive, but maybe he has a really good reason to act so suspicious and strange.
To some degree he's also very self-aware, in the SnowGrave route the scene where Susie and Noelle go on the ferris wheel still happens, but the camera doesn't move from Kris and Ralsei and he quickly gets awkward and uncomfortable that it's not happening

I think he's just playing dumb so we don't notice he's aware of the player, since on both chapters he interrupts himself when we come back from being Susie. It may be that he doesn't know what to think of us yet, being that we're possessing Kris.
You have to remember that in Deltarune Us (players) and Kris are separate entities, and it's clear at this point that Kris doesn't enjoy being controlled against their will. I'm pretty sure that Ralsei is trying to save Kris from the player's control.
Kinda salty that I missed this. On my 1st playthrough I hugged Ralsei, on my 2nd I did the rude gesture but I only fought Spamton Neo on my 2nd playthrough and hit "No" when Susie asked if Kris was alright

You are a soul that is "connected" and build a body for yourself, then reality hits and you are told that you don't get to choose who you are, then your soul is put into Kris, with the voice you connected to saying that "Kris" is who you are, what your name is.
My take on this is that you are the soul for Kris, but neither you or them agree that the soul matches the vessel it is in.
With how much open lgbt rep is in this game, and the fact that canonicaly Kris uses they/them pronouns, it wouldn't surprise me if this was a nod to transgender people and gender dysphoria (feeling that your soul/brain doesn't match the body it was put in, causing pain from the difference)
Question is... does Ralsei know? Kris most likely knows, and Susie definitely doesn't. Perhaps Ralsei is trying to stop Susie from having an existencial crisis and to be Kris' fluffy stress goat due to already having an existencial crisis? The roaring _does_ seem pretty bad in comparison, and if this is the case, then Ralsei is kind of in character to take the time to try and calm Kris down, though the lonesome prince is obviously not very good at it...

True, and definitely intentional! That's probably the intented takeaway from this interaction, actually: Yeah, hugs and all, but Ralsei is shown bypassing the room bounds (twice!) while the other characters are even depicted as being constrained by them. Maybe Ralsei was so eager to make Kris stop feeling dread over his lack of free will that he dropped the facade by mistake?
I buy into a lot of theories people have had but I'd call this one a stretch, heheh. I'd chalk this one up to awkward cinematography. Probably wouldn't mind being proven wrong though.

It looks pretty weird for Ralsei just to end up in black space, I mean Susie didn’t notice anything odd when Ralsei was pushed back, but it’s still a pretty odd decision to just let him float weirdly like that. There could’ve been a convenient space right there or even he could’ve just been pushed behind Susie when she moves towards Kris. Just overall a strange as hell choice to do it this way, which makes me think it was on purpose somehow. But I don’t know what’s the point of showing Ralsei bending time and space when we already know he’s kind of sketchy.

@@dormitthings4773 I dunno. I know it's a weird thing to overlook in a game with so much attention to detail but it's hard for me to believe anything else. Besides, even if it were a sign of something, I Don't think we can remotely guess what it could be anyway.
I find it more likely that Ralsei wanted to make Kris better so much that he decided to faze trough walls, not that he's secretly evil. We don't really have any evidence of foul play from him at all, and it's to much of a cheap twist for Toby Fox to do that to us lol.

I suppose it's purely coincidence that he resembles a mix of Asriel and Toriel, the two people Kris loves the most? That his name is just an anagram for Asriel? That he knew Kris and Susie's names? That he knows where the unused classroom is in the school? No, no, this stinks of deception. The only question is if Ralsei is the mastermind or the pawn. Ralsei benefits from the cycle that has begun here. Each time a fountain is created, then sealed, his own kingdom expands. It wouldn't surprise me if the power of the sealed fountain is transferred to Ralsei's.
@@Bluesit32 Many of his behaviors are suspicious, but Queen also knows where the classroom is. It could be an inherent ability dark world royalty. Ralsei may also possess spells that allow him to perceive parts of the light world, since he is the most magically gifted darkner we have met thus far. He may know Kris and Susie's names because it was written in the prophecy or because he is intended to be an ideal version of Asriel, one who understands Kris and his new friends. It also seems unlikely that Ralsei would want his fountain to grow. After the queen fight and during the legend, his dedication to preventing an imbalance of light and darkness is clear. Some of his suspicious behavior could be a result of his current identity crisis, hence why he doesn't want to discuss what happened with spamton neo. Although this is purely speculation there are too many important details that we are kept in the dark about. Whether he is pure in his motives is impossible to know now. Subverting our expectations is a classic Toby move.

Remember while we can control quite a few of Kris's actions and the general vibe of their responses to questions, what they *actually* say is all on Kris. At the end of chapter one, if you call Toriel before heading home, it is Kris who tells her that they were with a friend. They say this again if you call Toriel in chapter 2 before heading to the Dark World.
@GoTi4No going off of the "Tea" scenario, Kris at the very least does like Ralsei as a friend, but slightly less than they like Noelle, which all makes sense. Ralsei likely still seems kinda dubious to Kris, but also still seems like someone they enjoy the company of and can sort of trust.
Susie though? I'm positive Kris REALLY likes having Susie around, considering the +120 they get from drinking Susie Tea. I think Susie's friendship with Kris feels less forced for the both of them, which makes sense as they created a meaningful bond over the course of Chapter 1. It's really interesting how different Kris' relationships with Ralsei and Susie are, since Ralsei has mostly only just "been nice" to Kris without really understanding yet what makes friendships really special. He said so himself I think.
I think the poor dude is just.. for lack of a better word, too shallow a person right now. He lacks a lot of actual life experience despite all the knowledge he seems to have.

Honestly with how this chapter played out I feel _really_ bad controlling Kris, even though I’m trying to push towards the happiest ending I can get (giving out as many hugs as possible, completely pacifist, all that good stuff)
Just hope I can free Kris from my control by the end and let him have his happy ending

So i haven't seen anyone talk about this, but you can get another glow shard in Queen's mansion by turning all the silver platters into UFO's in that one room.

If this series has taught me anything, it is to fear for my emotions. I know the fluffy friend isn't telling us everything, but I know it'll hurt when he does.
Why tell a traumatized person more about the hidden meanings Jevil and Spamton were talking about? If anything, I feel Ralsei is only giving out information as is necessary, since most of the time, elaborations can't be made without making the emotional states of others much worse.
... Imagine how Kris would feel, if they didn't have time to cool down, and were told about what their adversary meant; they likely wouldn't feel any better, which would be bad because, as a human, they're the leader of the party.

what i find interesting about this is that kris seeks a hug without player input, meaning that kris themself does seem to be a hugger after all! that makes me feel less bad about all the hugging i do in deltarune-i often worry about whether i'm like… annoying or hurting kris when i play, i guess, since we know that our actions and will are completely separate from theirs.
man, it must suck if you'd want to 100% a game like this without youtube videos to show you the alternative options then. i'm in the same boat, i know it's a game but i still feel bad about wanting to play it even without doing _everything._
What I think was happening was that Kris actually does like hugs, but only from specific people. If someone like, in this case, Ralsei, hugged Kris, they'd be uncomfortable. But they ask Susie for one. The reason? Kris is more fond of Susie than anyone else in the Fun Gang. They actually like and trust her as a friend. And it could also have something to do with the type of hugs given. Again, for example, Asgore gives giant fluffy bear hugs. Kris might not be extremely comfortable with that, given Asgore saying they didn't like hugs.
(I've had to do these things myself, so I've had some experience!)

I love how neutral Kris is to him-- meanwhile, Kris loves Susie, who they also only met yesterday. 😂 I think Kris has a bias towards monsters, so maybe Kris thinks Susie is just really cool. Ralsei looks just like a monster, so I wonder what puts Kris off about them. (I wouldn't say he's THAT different, but maybe being a darkner makes a lot of difference...)

I see Ralsei as a good counterpart of Flowey.
-Flowey is "kill or be killed" while Ral is friend to all living things.
-Both are fluffy goat boi.
-Both have a level of awarenes above the other characters, but still not the greater scope. Flowey knows that it's all just a game but then there is Sans, who is above his view. While Ralsei knows that he world is in a closet and its inhabitants are objects, but then is the Spam guy who knows better, and even Kris who might know they are getting controles but cant expres it.
-In the genocide route, flowey notice that, even beeing above the oters characters will, he cant handle Chara. You can see that Ralsei notice that things are deraling in the genocide route when he and Kris waits for Susie outside Noelle's door)
- Flowey already have a background as Asriel (literal Prince of the underground) but become flat character who just wants to kill everything, while Ralsei is flat in the beggining (he is pretty much the Prince of nothing) but get molded by the player actions, just as he's castle n town.
-Few characters seems to notice them. While Flowey hides, Ralsei simply... dont get noticed by some, like Noele. Its extra wierd because she asks to stay behind Susie wich means she CAN see Ralsei in front of her, but others flavor textes sugests that she not even know he exists...

Sans isn't above as Flowey at 4th wall awareness this is wrong. Don't forget besides Frisk, Flowey is the character who has most determination, determination gives you powers like time manipulation, 4th wall awareness and etc. He even encourages you at making pacifist route in game. He definitelly has more knowledge than Sans.
@@isimyok960 when im say that that is above, its not about know more meta-wise, but awerenes of the scope where they live. Flowey is a sociopathic child that have acess to the game mecanics similar to a player perspective and only see things as a game, while Sans's is a cientist who understands that he lives in a world inside another world; and there is unknow being consuming, reseting and deleting his world and there is nothing he can do (wich is pure cosmic horror stuff). Even not having the same meta acess, he's knowledge IS a level above, and he is so good in exploit the game mechanics that even Flowey gived up in face him

He probably didn't turn into a statue because of the fact that he's a dark prince and also related to the fountain of Pure Darkness. It makes sense coz the PD fountain is basically the most original fountain and what not

One fun little thing i discovered with a friend yesterday that some people might not know, since i guess a lot of players played ch2 without playing ch1 in the same save file:
The tank thing you build in ch1, as we all know, comes back in ch2, but depending on how it looks like it actually slightly changes the rouxls boss fight's attacks and the look of the mech-thing in the final pacifist bossfight
Since lots of players start from ch2, they'll have the default tank, but if you acutally built one in ch1 it will come back in ch2 and have these changes
Damn, first playthrough I missed this battle completely, and on the second I did the fight before hugging Ralsei. Might play through it again, just for this honestly (and maybe some other secrets but mainly this)

I got a theory the reason kris hugs raisei is that ralsei reminds them as asreil and kris misses him

while i do think ralsei is hiding things, i don't think he's evil. to be honest I'd be disappointed if he was. not only because he's my favourite character, but also because it'd be an obvious twist that we've already seen before with characters like flowey and asriel

Personally, I think Ralsei is hiding something from the PLAYER, not necessarily Kris. I think Ralsei is trying to help Kris attempt to separate themselves from the player. There's multiple moments where it appears like Ralsei knows we're there, and he also probably knows we're partially controlling Kris, so maybe him trying to brush stuff off is like him trying to distract the player rather than Kris themselves.
What if Ralsei has Kris’s and Susie’s and others’ best interest at heart, and that’s why he shields information from the Player? It’s possible that, if he is aware of game mechanics, he’s aware that he’s in a game, was intended to be a tutorial NPC, and aware of the existence of a Snowgrave/Weird Route where the Player could kill everyone, hence he distrusts Them and has the “so, that’s why” conversations with Kris when the Player couldn’t see?
My money’s on Ralsei being the Shadow Crystal Holder of Castle Town, but the Player would only get to fight him in a Weird Route after the Player has corrupted Kris and killed Susie (as like a nod to Sans in the genocide route).
I got confused when I came across this dialogue on my play through since I expected the usual other lines to show up, atleast this explains why it happened
While Ralsei is the focus here, lets not ignore Susie being really concerned for Kris. Its so nice to see their friendship developing here and the two really care for each other.
I watched my friend fight spamton at one point but this didn't happen even though he hugged Ralsei at the swan. Makes me wonder if you had to hug Ralsei in chapter 1 as well?
Did he answer "Yes" when Ralsei asked if Kris was ok? If so, that may be it.

I think Ralsei is being secretive from us the player and that means he has to be secretive to susie and kris which is sad when you think about how they are his first true friends and he cant even be open with them.
And I cant experience any of that because I rushed trough the story. Great.

I think Ralsei is, like Queen was to Noelle, a darkner projection of specifically Asriel. Queen was like Noelle's overbearing mother (who also holds a position of power) while Asriel is probably filling the hole Kris has been feeling from Asriel being away at uni. Asriel and Kris sounded extremely close throughout all the dialogue in the game (Kris even respected Asriel's privacy regarding the room in Queen's place), Kris even got a bit upset when given a hot chocolate at the diner as that was something Asriel got for them. Ralsei appears to be the darkner version of Asriel who can go where ever Kris goes in whatever dark world because of this connection and isn't limited to just the castle. Maybe the ending of the Deltarune chapters exist as they do so far because his despair and loneliness is taking over (which was a big theme in Undertale along with determination).

I love how even though we the player control Kris he has his own personality and emotions, maybe he is not bad although the final scenes show a genocidal-psychopath-murderer Kris actually just wanted a piece of Pie, maybe the scenes are taken out of context ... (?
Ralsei is strange in this chapter. He seems almost narcissistic about the “think of something you like, something soft” part, and I don’t really buy the whole “Titans are gonna happen LUL” story, it feels like he just said it to make opening dark portals seem more dangerous. I don’t know… for now he’s pretty adorable though
