    Absolutely saved my bacon, installed the same ballast on a 2021 Chevy Traverse and added the extra power wire to get it working. Saved a bundle. Fits perfectly.

    For the 3-pin power connector of the ballast, are the two outer power pins for each the high and the low beams? I am trying to test both the high and the low beams independently. Thanks!

      Is your headlight bi-xenon or standard xenon? If you have a bi-xenon headlight then the HID bulb does both high beam and low beam. That function is controlled by a solenoid inside the projector that goes up and down to move from low to high beam then back to low beam. Technically speaking you can test the solenoid if you want. But the HID bulb itself doesn't have a high beam or low beam function. On standard xenon headlights, the high beam bulb is next to the HID bulb and that bulb is not connected to the ballast. So you would have to test that separately.

    This is happening to my Cadillac CTS, I have no power at all to my headlight. My Daytime Running Lamps work on my headlight but not my HID Bulb. I’ve also checked fuses and relays. Could the ballast be the issue?

      If your headlight wasn't get any power then the DRL would not work either. The ballast could be the issue but you'll be saving a lot of time and money by checking the bulb first. Inside your HID bulb glass there is a separate piece of round glass. If that round glass inside is dark gray or black and is no longer mostly clear, then your bulb is bad. If that glass has some white or yellowish haze but you can still see through it, then it is okay. If it is okay, then the problem could either be your ballast and/or igniter. Get a ballast that includes the igniter and you should be okay (if it needs an igniter).

    My light tester doesn’t light up at all when I touch the pins

      You would have to use what I believe is called a 'continuity tester". It's the one with a battery inside. You can't use a circuit tester or voltage tester. These names are too confusing so I'm not 100% sure about this. But what you want to do is see to which pin the power goes to because that pin is connected to the body of the ballast. That's why you want the one with a battery inside. The empty ones are circuit testers and voltage testers.

    I bought a 2007 lincoln navigator and the high and low beams don't work

      I believe the 2007 Navigator headlight uses the same HID bulb for both high and low beam. This means that either the bulb is bad or the ballast is bad (or both). The bulb is easy to tell: if you look at the glass of the bulb, inside you will see a separate glass that is round, like a ball. If that ball inside is dark gray or black, and you can't see through it, then the bulb is bad. If it's mostly clear, then it's good. The ballast, unfortunately, has to be tested.

    Is the ballast required for both low and high beams?

    Would a ballast cause a dim headlight?

    • @automight1615
      @automight1615  Год назад

      Most of the time, when the ballast is bad, your headlight will not work at all. A dim light usually means the bulb is on its way out.
