@@hubee2407 I do not. I have a few ideas though: check your Server invites that you've had. Either check in your browser history or check personal messages with people. You could also try looking for the server ID instead of a person's ID. When you download your Discord package, there should be logs of servers in there as well. In the channel file, type: 1 refers to a DM and either 2 or 3 would be a server/groupchat I think.
They actually added that feature on mobile (It's not on PC as far as I know), however you can't scroll back all the way to your first DM, only the ones you had in the past month or so.
Ik im seeing this way late but if they dont accept friends req then its not entirely over You can always /ban there id in a server with just yourself, then rightclick there name in the bans list and hit message, ive done this so many times and its saved my ass on a few of them
make a new server with just yourself, /ban the user id, then go into the server setting and under bans it should show it. then you just right click on the name and hit message and it should pull there dms up@@beatmoder

Make a server and add a mod bot such as carlbot 2. Do !ban (UID) 3. Go to banned users in the setting tabs 4. Right click and select either profile or messages 5. BAM you can now open their messages! This helped me open an old friend's DMs (I did the discord lookup, and tbh I really didn't want to add them just to look at some old messages) and I hope it can help y'all too :D

Yep it works. I thought I could speedrun it by copying the user's ID, but winrar actually has a string-finding feature where if you remember one of the words, you can narrow it down pretty quickly and find the person you're looking for. Thanks for the tutorial man, I really needed it.

Doesn't work anymore. Neither site can fetch deleted user's name and /ban command doesn't work on deleted users either... As if Discord purposefuly doesn't want you to re-open dms with them.

guys, you should search in the messages for a mention, because it doesn't show the id anymore, btw, when you add them as a friend, don't add the tag, it isn't necessary and discord id doesn't give it any more
Unfortunately one of my great, great real life friends moved, and so we friended each other on discord. I was being stubborn one day and didn't feel like adding their "new account" as a friend and wanted him to friend me instead. He also was being stubborn and said no, I kept saying no etc etc and eventually we never talked again. What is even odder is that he completely dissapeared from all of the internet since that exchange, and I cannot find anything on him. Hopefully I can finally get some answers if I do this. :/

theres a better method to doing this, at the very bottom of the message file there should be a thing called "index" if you open it on notepad it will let you see al the users you ever dmed or dmed you.

Its not possible to find Deleted Users anymore. You have to ask a friend whom was also in contact with them. Maybe they still have the DM channel open and can give you the correct ID.
if you go to pending and click on their name, then go to the three bubbles, you can see a "send message" button. You don't need them to accept your request :)

IT WORKS NVM, you just need their id, it would be a big help if the person you're trying to find is in a specific server before and ask a staff for their ID, they can just simply look at the message logs and they'll find the ID, then just enter the ID in the discord id site then u have their user, now just add and open the message, boom.
Hey I just fixed it. This might be because it was a message ID and not a user ID. I got my ID from my account data package and I just had to get a json viewer to see the participants ID and not the message ID, I was using the message ID which led to me getting nothing.

you can send them a friend request go to pending right click and click message and you can see your previous convo you can delete the friend request later
apparently if u clicked the X button next to someones DM's it doesnt delete, only makes it disapear for a while. just find their user and their number again and u can see the convo as long as u dont block them or legitimately delete conversation

i dont really close dms, but i always liked backreading my dms in socmeds except for discord. (it just auto closes my oldest dms with people who unfriended me a long time ago.)

Discord really needs to add a "previously closed" tab that lists out every DM you've closed, this way stuff like this isn't necessary

When I use the ID look up, it just tells me what the ID is which I already know and it just tells me when the account was made.

Its not possible to find Deleted Users anymore. You have to ask a friend whom was also in contact with them. Maybe they still have the DM channel open and can give you the correct ID.
